Obama: Time for 'bickering' is over on health care(No it's NOT, Mr. President! And you ain't KING!)

Shaking off a summer of setbacks, President Barack Obama summoned Congress to enact sweeping health care legislation Wednesday night, declaring the "time for bickering is over" and the moment has arrived to protect millions who have unreliable insurance or no coverage at all.

Obama said the changes he wants would cost about $900 billion over decade, "less than we have spent on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and less than the tax cuts for the wealthiest few Americans" passed during the Bush administration.

In a televised speech to a joint session of Congress, Obama spoke in favor of a provision for the federal government to sell insurance in competition with private industry. But in a remark certain to displease liberals, he did not insist on it, and said he was open to other alternatives that create choices for consumers.

Obama said he remains ready to listen to all ideas but added in a clear reference to Republicans, "I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it's better politics to kill this plan than to improve it."

In an unusual outburst from the Republican side of the House chamber, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., shouted out "You lie" when the president said illegal immigrants would not benefit from his proposals. The president paused briefly and smiled, but from her seat in the visitor's gallery, first lady Michelle Obama shook her head from side to side in disapproval of the interruption.

The arrogance keeps on being displayed.

He does not think we live in a Republic wherein we discuss issues.

He thinks he rules by fiat.

Ya gotta wonder, did this kind of BS work for him in his earlier life?

A little pipsqueak like him bullying his way through life should have been beaten to a pulp long before he left Indonesia.

This kind of BS is how the Illinois General Assembly (where he spent his first 8 years in public office) works. It’s also how Cook County and the City of Chicago work.

There was never a time for bickering. But there’s a necessity for debate, and lots of it, starting with whether or not the President’s vision is the vision we should be pursuing.

why is everyone worried about illegals on health care? Congress has already decided to grant amnesty next year so that would then qualify them for health care. Is that right?

obama is right. The time for bickering is over. It has been for a long time.

Now is the time for him to acknowledge he and the other liberals were wrong. It's time to get past this and move one.

Their proposals are inadequate and too expensive for this country or any country.

What they are wanting is not something conjured up from superior minds. It's crap.

I'm happy other countries aren't applauding his suggestions.

Where are the folks from Germany, where he went to compaign? I don't hear them standing up for him.

obama is right, he was wrong.

One of the most irritating things about the The Wun is the way that he keeps using baby words that denigrate his opponents - “bickering,” for example, about people who have, serious substantive disagreements with him or with his Dem minions. It’s this patronizing tone that absolutely makes me see red, particularly when it is coming from one as stupid as Zero.

Yep, best that I can figure is that Obozo never had his d*ck knocked in the dirt. Figuratively and better yet, literally. Would have done him a world of good

I hear these “sheeple” saying they’re for O-boy’s plan. Can anyone tell me just what exactly is his plan? No, because there ISN’T one! There are 5 or so floating around congress and O won’t even say which one of THOSE he likes.

When you point this out to idiots they, with that glazed look on their face, “Whatever he wants to do is better than nothing.”

He states that every other industrialized nation has better health care. What nations would that be? I wish I knew so I coulg go there when I need medical care. I could wave at all those coming here as we pass each other.
