Sen. McCain and Valerie Jarrett React to Obama's Speech [lauds Obama, says GOP want bipartisanship]
CNN / Real Clear Politics ^ | 2009-09-09

(snip)

SEN. JOHN MCCAIN (R), ARIZONA: Well, I thought the president is eloquent. I thought he had a lot of passion.

(snip)

MCCAIN: I hope he gets a bill. I hope we can sit down together and do the things that all of us agree on. And there are a number of things that are -- that we can agree on. And I think the American people, obviously, want that.

I don't know what the administration and the Democrats will insist on. Facts are stubborn things. The bills so far have had no bipartisanship associated with it. They were drawn up by Democrats and Republican amendments were rejected. So there's going to have to be an entire change of atmosphere here in order for us to get something done in a bipartisan basis.

(snip)

L. KING: But you don't believe there will be a death panel, though, do you?

MCCAIN: No. I do know that portions of the House bill were removed -- or one of the bills that's winding around here, which may have intimated such a thing. But -- and we know there's some questions about some of the manuals in the Veterans Administration.

But, look, instead of doing that, can't we sit down together and work together?

That might be a thought.

Damn bipartisanship to Hell!!!

As Rush has preached for years, bipartisanship is surrender in today’s Washington. Reagan could do it with the Congress he had back then. Today, DemRats play for keeps, politics as bloodsport, every concession leads to more aggressive tactics, more retreats.

Damn bipartisanship to Hell!!!

Gee whiz, everybody thinks McCain is a spineless dunce just ‘cause he endorsed his opponent during the election. After all, that could happen to ANY.....spineless dunce.

At breakfast this morning a couple individuals asked where we'd be at this point had McCain won the presidency. I suggested we may be just as bad off, if not worse.

Congress would likely still be controlled by Democrats. That means any healthcare legislation would likely be from them and be little different than what we have. Add to that the fact that JM's administration would likely be willing to embrace their bills, and would carry more RINO support than we've seen thus far. I doubt there would be anywhere near the GOP disaffection with Democrat policy, as hit-and-miss as it has been, had JM been POTUS.

And that doesn't even address the stimulus or other legislation such as Cash for Clunkers. Does anyone believe we'd be much better off?

John McCain is the gift that keeps on giving..for the Democrats. They adore him, because he is one of them. When people ask me who I voted for I say Sarah Palin. John McCain, every time I hear his voice, every time I see his face, I want to hurl. So he thinks there are no death panels, what does he think HR3200 is..so no death panels hey Mac, how about Dr. Zeke and his Complete Lives System. Good Lord, is THIS the best the Republican party could do, rally around this good for nothing. No wonder the Republicans lost, but hey, the GOP still backs McCain and refuses to get behind Sarah Palin, you all seeing a pattern here

So he thinks there are no death panels...

In other words, he just called Sarah Palin and pretty much the entire conservative movement a bunch of liars.

Bipartisanship is only an expression of the rhetoric and process of ‘sharing’ the carcass of the US more evenly between the two existing parties. This is unlikely to occur...Ob adminis. has not ‘reached’ out to the Republicans since April....and, certainly not as much as it has ‘reached’ out to Islam. The central banking system of the US is on life support, and, all other issues are an unwelcome distraction from that reality. Expanding insolvent, failing federal health programs exponentially is no answer.

“Zombie, unionized, bureaucratically monitored” MDs will not be looked upon kindly by the public when they are faced with them.

You clearly don’t understand how things work here in Arizona (and other states as well).... McCain holds big power with the most powerful here in Arizona and the people running against him are very weak... odds are slim and none that he will lose and he knows it, which is why he continues to be such an a-hole.

McCain is what happens when you love the institution and forget the purpose of the institution.
At one time, Unions, the UN, and Congress were good and necessary. Sadly, that time is long gone....
