SAVAGE is BANNED from the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA!

Posted on 09/10/2009 9:21:39 AM PDT by ggrrrrr23456

Just heard on Savage's home radio station, 910 KNEW, that they will be dropping his 3PM to 6PM PST slot in favor of the Armstrong and Getty show!

I am interested to see what his reaction will be to this one...

First banned in Britain, and now in his own hometown???

KSFO already has America’s Morning News - Melanie Morgan used to be on KSFO for years and years.

Poor decision on their part. Michael Savage is the best talk show host of all.

He is not a mouth piece for either side.

IIRC, Savage has changed radio stations in that area before.

It is a station decision.

Considering his ratings, another station will probably pick him up.

Who's next to go? Glenn Beck?

. KNEW! Make nice, nice radio!

Like Mark Williams being dropped from Sacramento KFBK -- did widdle management get weally, weally scared of the radical Muslims? Radical gays? Radical Hispanics? Who? All of them it's likely.

Armstrong and Getty would ge great to listen to on my drive home. They have one of the best morning shows I have ever heard (they are broadcast simultaneously on both an SF Bay Area station, and a Sacrmento station - so they cover a wide market area).

They are not technically Conservative (all of the time anyway), and sometimes tend more toward what I would call libertarian. However, even when they are being non-Conservative, they do not annoy me, which is very rare (they are even capable of doing “congenial” interviews with people such as Willy Brown - something I would never be able to do). Much of their commentary on various events/issues is very funny, and at other times very honest, forceful, and Conservative. They cover a variety of topics - such as entertainment, music, and sports - not just politics and current events (although politics and current events are their main focus). It is a very interesting show. I have never understood why they have not gone national.

I have not ever heard the two talk hosts from LA who are replacing Savage, but I have heard OF them.

Savage annoys me more and more as time passes, and so I don’t lsten to him very much anymore. Rush is far and away the best Conservative talker out there, and once he says it, that pretty much covers it. Everyone else, Hannity, etc..., with the exception of local SF Bay Area Conservative host Lee Rodgers, basicly sounds to me like they are just expanding on, or repeating, whatever Rush said earlier (admittedly, that could be because they all agree on the issues so their “take” would tend to be the same on any given story, however, I still think that Rush says it best).

Either way, now that there are three Conservative-ish talk stations available in the SF Bay area, plus a Catholic Radio station, the need/desire to listen to Savage has decreased greatly.

I'm trying to remember when this might have happened on KSFO.

It may have been before Limbaugh moved from KNBR. KSFO had Lee and Mel on from 5:00AM to 9:00AM. Maybe Jon and Ken were on from 9:00AM to noon? KSFO had Geoff Metcalf on from noon to 2:00PM, then Jim Eason from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, then Savage from 4:00PM to 7:00PM.

Eventually, Limbaugh moved to KSFO because of getting bumped for baseball all the time on Sports Talk KNBR (Gary Radnich took over the spot), Metcalf got dummped for Dr. Laura, Eason retired and Savage started doing his national show separately from the Bay Area show, then Savage moved to KNEW and a series of fill-in hosts took over the 4:00PM-7:00PM slot until Brian Wilson from Washington DC took it permanently.

Eventually Brian Wilson was replaced by Brian Sussman when Sussman left TV.

From the website:

"Why did you take Michael Savage off the air?"

Here's your no-spin direct answer; we have decided to go in a different philosophical and ideological direction, featuring more contemporary content and more local information. The Savage Nation does not fit into that vision.

Judging by the comments, nobody is happy about this decision.

You've got to be kidding me.

For sheer raw intellectual Conservative analysis and insight, I have not heard a Conservative talker who is Rush's equal - even if he is off his peak of a few years ago.

He also plays doo wop, jazz, and swing music.

More than you might think. I’ve listened since around 1997 or before. His local popularity is what led to the national syndication of the show. Just to provide a comparison, another station tried going national with a morning talk show guy, Ronn Owens, who’d been on air locally for many years before Michael Savage appeared, and it flopped, probably because he was too boring and too liberal.

He’s the only person on radio who will talk about Shakespeare, philosophy, the best meatball recipes from the Bronx, etc.

was not sarcasm. and, yeah, word do have meanings otherwise communication is not really possible. everything is not relative. i may well be the only freeper who does understand sarcasm. would never dream of clearly labeling sarcasm as sarcasm and assuming that my readers are stupid.

Thanks. I am not sure this is a very big deal . . he will probably land another spot in SF Radio.

Michael Savage has marginalized himself over the years and is not as influential as Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, or even Mark The Shouter Levin.

I like to listen to Savage now and then. He has the very worst opening theme “song” of anyone in the business. The guy is a bit quirky, but interesting. I can’t listen to Mark levin more than 5 minutes a day.

“Intellectual Conservative analysis” — Rush Limbaugh? Oh, man, you’re killing me. I might never stop laughing.

Successful he may be, but intellectual he ain’t.

If the decision is a result of FCC pressure, then it is a ban.

I'd be surprised if the FCC gave two rips about Savage.
