Pelosi most polarizing speaker since Gingrich: GOP poll By Michael O'Brien - 09/10/09 11:59 AM ET

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is the most polarizing person to hold that office since Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) ended his term as speaker, Republicans argued Thursday.

A new poll conducted by OnMessage Inc. for the Republican National Committee (RNC) showed Pelosi with high name recognition, and a net negative impression.

"I have seen one other speaker in my career with name ID that high, and it was Newt Gingrich," pollster Wes Anderson told reporters at a briefing on the poll's results this morning.

53 percent of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of the House speaker, while 42 percent maintain a favorable impression.

"Her image actually continues to deteriorate," Anderson explained. "Speaker Pelosi is seen as exceedingly out of step with regular voters."

The poll, conducted August 25-26, has a 2.82 percent margin of error.

“Pelosi most polarizing speaker since Gingrich”

On the other hand there has only been one speaker between the two.

How can someone with an approval rating in single digits be ‘polarizing’?? That sounds like effective ‘unanimity’ to me....

Last night as I was wathching Miller Time on BOR Dennis commented that Pelosi was blinking like Yul Brynner on a rainy day. I thought that was a great synopsis.
Nancy could best be described by her performance last night as Barack’s greatest chearleader. I lost count of how many times she stood and clapped when she wasn’t sitting in her chair grinning like a fool.

Interesting. One balanced the budget, the other drove it to $1.6 trillion annual deficit, continuing at unprecedented levels as far as the eye can see.

Apparently both are controversial. Gee I wonder why?

Yeah, I guess if one is a long time Marxist, it will hurt your popularity ;-)

Her approval rating among likely voters is a lot lower.

What does Nancy need with her private jets. She should use her broom.
