WASHINGTON – Aiming to boost his hometown of Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, President Barack Obama is bringing Olympic athletes to the White House next week and sending a senior adviser to Denmark to lobby Olympic officials, White House officials said Wednesday.

By the way, there is a good chance Rio de Janeiro may not get the 2016 Summer Olympics. Because Brazil will host the 2014 World Cup of men's soccer, the IOC fears Brazil could not afford to host the World Cup in 2014 and the Summer Olympics just two years later.

Right now, the two leading contenders are Tokyo and Madrid, with Chicago being third.

Your comment is wrong, it won't be 'monopoly money'. If the games lose money the property owning, taxpaying, residents OF CHICAGO will be footing the bill. The city council passed that bill yesterday. It was a mandatory condition for Chicago in order to be considered by the IOC. London(?) already agreed to the same dumb thing.

btw, there's a side story to this that everyone is missing so far. We all know Daley is an anti-gun psycho. BUT there are Ten (or 12) SHOOTING EVENTS in the Summer Olympics. So somehow this little legal issue will have to be 'solved' :-)

And IL State Gun Laws also have to addressed too. Some Bulgarians will have to figure out how to get an IL FOID Card. No card, no shooty
