They're Lying!...

It occurs to me that if there is no relevance to the truth that your opponents words invoke, then why dignify them with a response? I'll tell you why, death panels are just exactly what we will get with zerocare. In order to make socialised medicine work, you have to cull out the difficult cases with arbitrary bureaucratic red tape and the expected level of gov't incompetence. That all by itself will kill off plenty of undeserving and underserving seniors and other burdens to the system. So, who is lying?

This does not add up. They are busy destroying private enterprise. Profit making free enterprise is where they get the tax loot to fund the Marxist Programs they love..If they kill the free enterprise profit system where will they get the money to pay for the stupid programs? Tax Loot only comes from profits. The more profit the more Loot.

We need to tell government to fix the programs they already run before taking more on. (A solution to fix many programs is to stop funding them and let them fade away into the sunset.)

Of course they are lying. Simple facts of modern medicine dictate that someone somewhere that is paying has to make the decision to stop treatment.

We have the technology to keep someone alive forever. We can breath for them, work all their organ functions for them, and even pump their blood for them, indefinitely. If someone somewhere in government wasn't deciding to eventually stop treatment you would have literally millions of welfare patients sitting on life support indefinitely.

Whoever is paying the bill eventually gets to decide when to pull the plug. That's just reality. That's why it is so important that the government not be the one paying the bill, it's one thing for a relative or even an insurance company to decide, because the government can help protect us from them... but who is going to protect us from government?

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel:
Principles for allocation of scarce medical interventions
http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/PIIS0140673609601379.pdf

Random decisions between someone who can gain 40 years and
someone who can gain only 4 months, or someone who has
already lived for 80 years and someone who has lived
only 20 years, are inappropriate. Treating people equally
often fails to treat them as equals.

"Undesirable priority to infants over adolescents and young
adults; ignores other relevant principles"

From the table on page 373
"Outcome measure disadvantages disabled people; age
considered as modifying value of individual life-years,
rather than from standpoint of distributive justice; defi nition of
instrumental value is too focused on economic worth, and could justify bias towards heads of household and other “traditional” social
positions; does not incorporate many relevant principles"

"Reduced chances for persons who have lived many years;
life-years are not a relevant health care outcome; unable to deal with
international diff erences in life expectancy; need lexical
priority rather than balancing; complete lives system is not
appropriate for general distribution of health care
resources."
