Palin Sticks to Her 'Death Panel' Claims in WSJ Op-Ed; Lib Columnist Tells Media to Ignore Her
Newsbusters ^ | September 9, 2009 | Jeff Poor

She's been ridiculed by the so-called masters of the universe in the mainstream media for warning President Barack Obama's health care proposals could result in one of one of her loved ones having to stand in front of one of "Obama's death panels" to determine their "level of productivity in society" to see if they are worthy of health care. But despite the criticism, she's not backing down from those statements.

Aside from submitting written testimony to the New York State Senate, as Noel Sheppard pointed out for NewsBusters on Sept. 8, Palin wrote an op-ed that appeared in the Sept. 9 Wall Street Journal explaining that Obama has in the past said he wanted to eliminate "inefficiency and waste" in the system, including in an Aug. 15 New York Times op-ed.

Gov. Palin: "Common sense tells us that the government's attempts to solve large problems more often create new ones.
... Mr. Obama wants to eliminate inefficiency and waste: He's asked Congress to create an
Independent Medicare Advisory Council—an unelected, largely unaccountable group
of experts

charged with containing Medicare costs.
.... Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned
that the Democrats' proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care
by—dare I say it—death panels? ....
the fact remains that the Democrats' proposals would still empower unelected bureaucrats to make
decisions affecting life or death health-care matters. Such government overreaching is what
we've come to expect from this administration.

The more the libs bash Palin, the more they convince me that she is a dangerous opponent of theirs.

Hmmm....and who’s more credible than Palin, Obama? Mitt Romney? I’ll stick with Sarah.

Me, too.

Romney has the heart of a rino/moderate and obama has the heart of a statist/socialist. Both can and will say anything to be elected and then do what's in their heart. Not good.

Sarah Palin appears to have the heart of a Conservative and says and appears to do what her heart tells her. She may not be a perfect candidate, no one is. But until someone better comes along, I'm voting for Sarah...AGAIN!

The libs can’t ignore her. They hate her too much and when they bash her, they get lots of attention. A pretty good op-ed by Sarah, BTW. It is funny, as smart as the media claims to be, they still don’t even comprehend what Sarah means by ‘death panels’. The media seems to think she literally means their are panels which are labeled ‘death panels’ in the bill. Sometimes I wonder if the MSM is capable of reading and thinking at the same time. And they think Sarah is the dumb one.....

Lots of so-called Indpendents hate her as well. To them hunting animals for food is worse that snatching an unborn child from its womb.

They know she’s right. What leftists always object about is when someone tells the truth about them or their policies.

My FOUR YEAR OLD understands the concept of unlimited demand for a “free” good or service.

I told her she should explain it to the president.

The media ignore Sarah? I don’t think they have the restraint to do so. LOL

This woman shines with raw, magnetic political talent. She is a clear and present danger to the Statist agenda and has the ability to dismantle the left for many years to come.

This op ed is outstanding and got me fired up this morning; she brings me hope...real hope. She is one of the common folk and continues to impress with her grasp on domestic issues. In time, her acumen with foreign policy will develop- I am sure her private inner circle briefs her weekly.

The state media tried to tarnish her beyond repair....they did a damn good job. Still, my guy instincts tell me that independents can come around and embrace her if she continues to impress with op-eds, speeches, and appearances.

She is the antidote to Obama poison. If he continues to be exposed for what he is and continues to swim in his stunning arrogance the country at large will be clamoring for a new administration in 2012.

And the thing is, she doesn’t talk over your head with political double talk-—you know how politicians and laywers are.

She speaks as one of us, just as concerned as the average citizen should be, she realizes she’s in a situation where good, bad or indifferent, she has a “microphone” and is using this opportunity to speak on behalf of us “common” folks. She’s Real.

The problem for the media is that it is too late to ‘ignore her’. She is drawing the curious to her Facebook, is writing a book that is going to be a bestseller and whenever she starts her speaking tours she is going to draw very large audiences and that goes for tv appearances as well. She is a draw and that is very damaging to them. It is good to see her be a significant voice in opposition of this radical agenda. She is a heroine.
