Deconstructing the Speech
Posted By Kurt Schlichter On September 8, 2009 @ 1:53 pm In Politics
A close reading of the Presidents speech to schoolchildren today reveals some notable things. As a trial lawyer, its professionally interesting to see how he makes his case and to see what case he is actually making. And as the father of a new kindergartner and a toddler, Im interested in seeing how he goes about trying to influence our children not because Im paranoid about him influencing my kids but because Id like to learn how to do it myself.
Lets start with some statistics. My computer counted 36 uses of the word I and 15 uses of the contraction Im in 2,367 words. The subject is supposed to be school, but that word only appears 25 times. So, the subject is the President.

What about the phrase that I saw on one thread —
Where the Americans attended school
I think it has the words
slip up
in the title.
Only if you make an assumption: that the god in question is the G-d of Abraham.
It was the meeting with some students BEFORE the speech that has me concerned.
He told a student he wants Universal Health Care and believes he will get it.
Scold, scold, scold. Obama bored them to tears. That’s good for me.
I didn’t see he speech, but did it go something like this?... I am um uhh school uh umm good errr uh um kids uuuuhhh errr drugs ummm uh err healthcare umm erer uh rascist ummmm errrr whitey ummmmm bad ummmm republicans errrrr ummmm gotta errr ummm uhhh go.
Was it broadcast?
I believe they did the right thing by dropping the plan for teachers and releasing the speech beforehand.
I have no problem with his speech. I think it said some good things.
Nope, he read every word off a teleprompter, as usual.
Well someone here has missed the point.
What band played before and after Pappa Obama’s chat with the kiddies? It sounded like a big pep rally.
Explain it to me. Obviously I’m too ignorant to get it. He said, “I” alot?
So what? It was an uncontroversial speech. It said some good things.
I don't see how the kids stayed awake through the speech, though. It was pretty uninteresting and bland.

Although the Dept. of Education removed the one most objectionable item in the lesson plan, they did keep the rest of the plan. It seemed so condescending. Like teachers won't be able to figure out how to incorporate the _resident's speech into their classes.
Oh, and there was a closed door meeting with some "students" before the speech. It leaked out that one "student" asked about health care.
My bet is Sean couldn't name 10 of the 36 countries that actually have "universal health coverage."
Hi, my name is Sean. And my question is, currently 36 countries have universal health coverage, including Iraq and Afghanistan, which have it paid for by the United States. Why can't the United States have universal health coverage?
Kurt Schlichter dissected the speech succinctly. If you’ve failed to understand his article and point, I can’t help you.
Or define universal coverage
My bet is Sean couldn't name 10 of the 36 countries that actually have "universal health coverage."
My bet is that "Sean" (if he exists and isn't an Obama-Propaganda-Productions invention) is the son of an illiterate obama voter and couldn't name 10 countries.
I disagree with his dissection.
I have no problem with the speech.
Granted, we don’t know that it is the original speech, but I have no problem with the speech Obama gave.
THAT’S what I said.
IMO - I had concerns with the study guide and the idea that parents wouldn’t know what he was saying, but problems with this speech...
to quote the bard
much ado about nothing.
“much ado about nothing.”?!
Hardly, given the fact that Obama broke protocol, yet again, and failed to allow the local school boards to decide whether or not the board members wished to approve this speech for the children in their communities. A further undermining of local authority.
The study guide (now why would Obama wish to have teachers follow a study guide? This is rhetorical, of course) was(?) reconsidered due to the fact that there was a chorus of opposition questioning Obama’s motives, and rightly so, concerning this speech.
The undertones in his speech further reveals his agenda in undermining parents and local authorities (as if the students need Obama’s condescending reminders to listen to their parents and teachers).
This surrogate role he has assumed leaps beyond the role of our President.
As mentioned earlier, Kurt Schlichter deconstructs Obama’s speech succinctly. You have failed to understand the all encompassing motive behind Obama’s speech.
