"Don't take the great August and think it is an endgame victory.  What happened in August
is going to be required behavior of all of us for the remainder of this guy's first term."

"If Barack Obama really wants to help kids in school he will cut their parents' taxes and he
will cut the taxes of their employers."

"Van Jones is Obama.  Mark Lloyd at the FCC is Obama.  Jeremiah Wright is Obama.
There's no difference.  The only difference is that some of them make reckless public
statements, but in terms of what he believes, Obama's no different than Van Jones."

"In theory Obama's got the votes in the House and the Senate to pass any legislation
he wants and yet he's calling a joint session essentially of Democrats in Congress to
help him save face, is what this is about.  This is a display tomorrow night of great
weakness and it will be televised for the entire country to see."

"Obama was elected by a bunch of whiners who wanted him to take care of them.
That's who voted for the guy.  Well, and some guilty white people who thought that
maybe they could get rid of the nation's racial past by voting for the guy, but he was
elected by a bunch of whiners who thought he was going to fix everything."

"You go to the AFL-CIO rally that took place in Cincinnati yesterday and it sounded
like a campaign rally from the campaign of 2008.  It didn't sound anything like presidential."

"Barack Obama is Dean Wormer from Animal House and his administration is all
these elitist frat boy kids who think they're better than everybody else."

Uncool Cool

Continually repeat ...

It's not about me.
I'm the President.

Rush's Post-Vacation Monologue: Don't Get Giddy Over August, Folks
Obama's magic is gone, but we must remain vigilant.
September 8, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  I'm glad I'm back from vacation, there's no question about it, but I wish Congress was still on vacation.  I wish Obama was still on vacation.  I mean we are in deep, deep peril.  We are in deep peril every second.  I know, the speech, the little indoctrination speech to the young skulls full of mush starting right at the moment my first words were uttered.  After being gone for a little over a week there's Obama indoctrinating the young skulls full of mush.  The timing is not a coincidence.  We are not going to JIP it, we are rolling tape.  We've seen the transcript of the speech anyway.  We'll have some comments on it.

Great to be back here with you, folks.  Hope you had a fine week while I was away.  I see even when I'm gone the process continues.  The things that we set up fell right into place.  Great to be back here.  Telephone number, 800-282-2882, if you want to be on the program.  The e-mail address, ElRushbo@eibnet.com

Obama was in the recording studio to prepare for today.

(playing of Obama spoof)

And it's the Rush Limbaugh program on the Excellence in Broadcasting Network, an abbreviated week.  It's back to normal.

The National Football League kicks off on Thursday night with the Titans at the Steelers, and we had college football all weekend long and so forth, but we're back to normal.  Congress is back with the lowest approval ratings ever.  Unemployment has now hit 9.7%.  Youth unemployment is at an all-time record high of over 25% since records have been kept on that starting in 1948.  Nevertheless, President Obama and Vice President Biden keep telling us how their stimulus plan is working.  And now he's going to tell us tomorrow night how well Obamacare is gonna work.  The magic is gone, the bloom is off the rose here for President Obama, ladies and gentlemen.  This is speech number 112 on health care tomorrow night, speech number 112.  Every time he goes on television to make a speech about it the numbers plummet even further.  I expect this to happen again because substance has taken over the cult-like belief that people held in Obama.  The fact that he's a centrist is out the window.  Nobody believes he's a centrist, nobody believes that he's anything they thought he was.

Pew Research Center has a poll out.  It's in the LA Times.  Of all places, the LA Times.  He is fast losing support among white voters.  Now, make no mistake, that's not an accident that it's in the LA Times.  That's purposefully placed in the LA Times, setting up the notion that the criticism to Obama is all based on race, it's not based on substance.  That's the reason for the poll, and that's the reason to place it in the Los Angeles Times.

Now, Van Jones.  I was on Beck's show long before I went on vacation. We talked about this guy and another one just like him over at the FCC.  The FCC diversity czar is a guy named Mark Lloyd and I followed this a little while I was away.  I was over at the big island in Hawaii playing golf, that's the only place I went, one of the "57 states" I announced I was visiting before I left.  I'm reading all these stories, "How did this guy get past the vetting process and why didn't the press cover any of this?"   Look, folks, Van Jones is Jeremiah Wright, is Bill Ayers, it was not an accident that he's in the White House.  Van Jones is Obama.  Mark Lloyd at the FCC is Obama.  Jeremiah Wright is Obama.  There's no difference.  The only difference is that some of them make reckless public statements, but in terms of what he believes, Obama's no different than Van Jones.  That's why he was in the White House in the first place as the green jobs czar dealing with diversity and so forth.

The guy hates Republicans.  He's a Marxist; he's a communist; he's a 9/11 truther.  He's a wacko.  He's a nut.  He's one of these far left radicals, and Valerie Jarrett who is one of Obama's most trusted left hand, right hand people, put him in there.  The administration is full of people like this.  What's frustrating about this is that so many of us tried to warn the country about this long before the election took place all during the campaign.  The New York Times didn't report on it; the Washington Post didn't report on it.  Of course they didn't.  Why would you expect them to?  There's two reasons.  You know, Byron York has a piece in the DC Examiner today that is headlined: "Why Did the Press Ignore the Van Jones Scandal?"  I think people make a mistake in assuming that the primary reason they don't report on this kind of thing is they're trying to help Obama.  I mean clearly that is true.  But I think the far more motivating factor is their hate for us.

Remember, the Drive-By Media, the State-Controlled Media, the American left thinks that you and I pose a greater danger to them than any foreign enemy that's armed with weapons, including nukes.  We are the problem and any time we have success, they're going to do everything they can to blunt it or ignore it or discredit it or what have you.  Clearly they're trying to support Obama by not reporting the story, but they also don't want to report the story because they just hate us.  This is why I have always said, if you're looking for validation by finally seeing fairness and accuracy in the State-Controlled Media, you are forever setting yourself up to be disappointed, 'cause it's never, ever going to happen.  Bias is one thing, and it's undeniable that the Drive-Bys, that the State-Controlled Media are biased.  But the bias is not just what they love.  Bias is not just what they support, the bias is also what they hate and who they hate and who they dislike.  That's why they love to focus on some of the kookier conservatives out there, both in the blogosphere and in media to try to make them the focal point, spokesman, or what have you.

The bottom line is, though, that none of this is working.  Well, that's maybe too optimistic to say.  Their monopoly is gone. As we've repeatedly said, we're instrumental here in breaking up that monopoly.  But the American people have been informed of what's in the health care, not by the people whose job it is to tell 'em that but by people who are doing their jobs for them, us.  Now, I also read a piece -- I did massive show prep late yesterday afternoon and last night -- and I don't even remember who wrote this piece.  It might have been Quin Hillyer at American Spectator.  He said, look, it was a great August, but don't get giddy here.  Don't get all excited.  This is nowhere by any means over.  He made a point, I love seeing it because it's a point that I have been drilling home ever since Obama took office. All this chaos fits right into his plan: 9.7% unemployment is exactly what the doctor ordered.  All of this chaos, all of this disarray, is exactly within our culture, within our economy is exactly what he wants.  He thrives on it.  He's not unnerved by this.  He may be a little bit unnerved that the health care thing didn't happen as he planned it but he's putting the full-court press on this, and look at this:  "White House considers drafting health care bill."  This is from CNN on September the 4th.  And indeed on Wednesday night we may get the first ever announced set of details from Obama on the health care plan.

Now, why is that?  He hasn't had a plan that he could point to.  He's been letting Congress do all the dirty work.  But he wants to get this thing passed before the August recess.  It doesn't get implemented 'til 2013.  The reason he wanted to keep it hidden, of course, is because he didn't want anybody to know what was in it and what it was going to entail.  Now major changes supposedly are being worked on, but don't buy that.  Whatever they end up with, if there is a health care reform bill the Democrats in the House and Senate passed and sent up to hit the sign, it is a government-run health care plan. I don't care what kind of language they use to try to convince you that there won't be a public option, Barack Obama is governing against the will of the American people, and the purpose of the speech last night is to cast you as the enemy, is to cast the American people as the enemy while he attempts to cajole you and manipulate you.  His audience is really going to be more Democrats in Congress than it is the American people.  He's lost you on this issue.  He's lost you and he's lost 23 Democrats in the House.  Right now as we speak 23 House Democrats have said they're going to vote against if it's got this massive public option in the bill as it exists now.

Pelosi needs 38.  If 38 Democrats defect on the health care bill then she's in trouble in the House, after 23 announced defections as of now, but that could also change on a moment's notice depending on how arm twisting Rahm Emanuel and the boys at the White House want to be.  But I think we are well advised not to get giddy and understand 9.7% unemployment.  In Wisconsin, 86% of the people who called to check on their unemployment benefits get hung up on.  They're not getting any answers.  All home foreclosures, there's nothing decent happening in the US economy.  I mean even, folks, even where I live, Palm Beach, Florida, which is I think one of the top five most affluent ZIP codes in the country, the -- (interruption) no, no, it's not number one, Snerdley, Jupiter Island up the road is number one.  I don't know that we're number two, but we're in the top five, doesn't matter.  The local paper Sunday had a story on four or five people whose lives have fallen apart.  Not because of Madoff, but because of the economy.  Even here.  The point is there is no good news in the economy out there, and yet they're gonna pile this health care on top of it.

I'm telling you, Van Jones notwithstanding, Mark Lloyd over at the FCC, that's who this administration is and the sooner everybody realizes it the better.  Barack Obama does not want to change the United States within its current political system.  He wants to blow it up.  He wants to blow up the political system and completely remake it, and there those of us who have known this since early on in the campaign simply by knowing who his associates were, simply by knowing where he grew up and what he believed and things he did as a community organizer. More and more people are starting to figure it out but that doesn't unnerve him.  He doesn't mind governing against the will of the people.  He wants to make it so that you're powerless to stop him in the first place, and that's the objective.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I got an interesting e-mail here during the break.

"Dear Rush:  I've waited all weekend in a long day of labor for you to return to the Golden EIB Microphone with some words of hope -- and what do I hear you say?  Obama doesn't care that people are against his policies. He doesn't care about his falling poll numbers. He has us right where he wants us.  My question is: Why even voice our opinion and concern since it doesn't matter anyhow?  I'm totally stressed out and everything seems hopeless to me."  The author of this e-mail is a woman named "Linda."  Linda, don't misunderstand.  All I really want to say is: Don't take the great August and think it is an endgame victory.  What happened in August is going to be required behavior of all of us for the remainder of this guy's first term.  I'm simply trying to reiterate.

I feel like a broken record here because these are things we've been discussing since during the presidential campaign.  When I say he doesn't care about public opinion, I mean in the sense it's not going to change his mind.  He does care about his public polling.  The speech today was to try to get the polling up.  I mean, all politicians, all presidents care about that, but at the end of the day, look, he's out there on health care, he's saying, "Okay, the debate's been good, but it's time to end the debate."  Why?  Why is it time to end the debate?  'Cause he says so?  He's going to do a speech tomorrow night on health care and here's the bottom line.  He is so desperate to get the health care bill he's own resorting to telling us about it a little bit.  He doesn't have a plan, but he's working on one. He's going to tell us a little bit about his plan tomorrow night for the first time. That's how desperate he is to get something done.

Now, Linda, the point that I'm trying to make here is that this is a vigil, and we are all going to have to be vigilant and never let our guard down because what you hear from Barack Obama during times of his crisis like this is not what he really believes.  We have been successful.  But he is campaigning against the American people.  Look, where do you think all this talk about Nazis showing up at town hall meetings and unruly mobs came from? Where do you think this came from?  It came from the Oval Office. It came from the office of the president of the United States.  He knows what he wants, and he's going to find a ray weigh to ram it down our throats whether we like it or not.  Now, he would prefer to be able to use language that would make us all accept it.  And that's what this speech to the young skulls full of mush was all about today.

But there's all kinds of reason for hope.  I'm just saying: We are a nation that is a great nation, but we're in grave risk every day. This is an administration which is trying to turn this country upside down from the way it was founded and the way we grew up in it and the way we want our kids and grand kids to grow up in it.  As Quin Hillyer points out in the American Spectator... His actual point in that piece was: Hey, don't get lulled into a false sense of security here.  We're not dealing with Jimmy Carter.  Jimmy Carter was a buffoon.  Jimmy Carter tried to change the country within the political system.  Obama is not a buffoon and he is trying to change the company outside the political system.  He is reorienting it. All these czars? Nobody knows what they make. They don't fill out the questionnaires that cabinet secretaries do. They don't have get vetted.

Van Jones wasn't vetted.  They knew who he was.  It didn't matter. That's why there are czars so people don't have to get vetted.  But we're also working here with a media that has long ago cast aside it is responsibility.  And that responsibility has now fallen to, quote, unquote, the New Media.  The New Media for the longest time has been doing the job that the legacy media should have been doing.  And now we are the enemy.  And they hate us. And the last thing they want is for us to succeed.  So August was a great month, and it was a time for, being encouraged and so forth because it shows we can beat this stuff back.  I'm just saying it's going to be a constant daily battle.  We're only seven months into this administration.  Just seven months.  It feels like a lifetime already.  We're only seven months into it, and all these agenda items that he has in store, he hasn't given up on any of them.

Cap and trade, massive tax increases coming, this health care debacle.  One way to try to understand who's running the country is: If you remember all the sixties radicals that were blowing up bank buildings and wearing their tie dye T-shirts and so forth, they're now running America's higher institutions of learning. A bunch of them are in this administration.  This is their golden opportunity to get what they want.  And it's just gonna require a constant, ongoing, everyday exposure and exposé of who they are and what they're doing and it's going to be tough because there's still a significant number of people who don't want to believe the truth about the president of the United States.  People want to love their president.  People want to respect the president.  They want to hold the president in high esteem and high regard.

That's part of Americanism, and so it's a tough sell.  We've been convincing people, trying to convince people here for a year and a half, two years. And what's it really taken?  It's really taken Obama being who he is, which is not the way he behaved during the campaign for people's eyes to start opening up and even now there are people who don't want to believe it.  My optimism is not wavering at all.  I'm not by any stretch of the imagination feeling defeated.  All is lost. If that were the case, I would not have come back.  You know what?  If that were the case I'd go someplace and spend all my money before Obama is going to take it. If I'd cashed in the chips you wouldn't have heard from me again.

Obama's School Speech Explained
Falling polls forced him to make an insincere speech.

Parody Obama Speech:  Obama School Mess

YouTube:  Part 2:   Pres. Obama Speaks To American Students!  09/08/2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I had an opportunity here to listen to a little of Obama's cheerleader speech to America's young skulls full of mush; and I am here to tell you that he didn't believe a word of what he said, at least what I heard him say.  This was an inspiring, motivational speech. "You gotta rely on yourself! Don't let your failures define you. Nobody is born great." That's not true, by the way.  There are people who are born good at what they do.  I am doing what I was born to do, and I knew at eight I wanted to do it.  Champions sometimes are born.  You might want to be the greatest baseball player in the world and you might want to be the greatest golfer but you just don't have what it takes to be great. No matter what how hard you work, no matter how hard you work at it.

You have to find what you really love and what you're really good at then work hard at that.  But that's splitting peas.  He just gave a speech that he doesn't believe a word of.  If he believed anything he said today then he would not be trying to accomplish one item in his agenda.  His agenda is based on the fact that you can't take care of yourself.  His agenda is based on the fact that you are incompetent to make the right decisions.  His agenda is that you need guidance and you need leadership and you need somebody making decisions for you and you need a big government nanny because you're incompetent and incapable.  He goes out and tells these students, "It's all up to you. The country needs you. I want you to work hard." He used the word "I."  It's the middle of the day so I couldn't do a drinking game, but if this speech were given at night and I took a drink for every time he said the word "I" I would be inebriated.

"I this. I that. I'm doing my best to get you textbooks. I'm doing my best to get you a good environment. You gotta do the work."  He doesn't believe a word of this.  So why do this?  Why do this speech to the nation's skulls full of mush?  There are three reasons.  One: He's got to get those poll numbers up.  Let's go to the poll, the Pew poll that shows him losing vast amounts of support from white voters, particularly independents -- the precious independents!  The second reason, it's actually tied. The last two of the three are tied together.  It's to set up health care tomorrow night.  Set up the health care speech.  So here's a guy goes out... Remember, now, the Alinsky rule: "You speak within the realm of your audience's experience."  The American people want to hear children motivated to be good, to do the best they can, to work hard.

Okay, so go out and use the language and use the philosophy that makes your audience comfortable with you when your objective is the exact opposite of what you say.  Barack Obama wants as many of these kids in school to grow up needing government services as he can.  He's going to put tax increases on these kids to the point that their hard work is going to be pointless!  It's just absurd.  But he goes out and he makes this speech which was unlike any speech I've ever heard him give.  Again, I only heard probably a grand total of three minutes of it, but it's in direct contradiction to everything he believes.  It's in direct contradiction to everything in his agenda.  So he sets up things. He's got this big health care speech before a joint session of Congress tomorrow night -- which is a sure sign of panic, by the way.

He's got this joint speech, and it's going to come after this wonderful, inspiring, motivational speech to America's young skulls full of mush.  So the State-Controlled Media after this speech tomorrow night, "How can anybody disagree with this president? How can anybody say that this man does not want the best for his country?" after this speech to the young skulls full of mush.  The young skulls full of mush... Obama did do one right thing.  He kept it short here.  His speech was shorter than my opening monologue. Well, no. I actually took a break before he did.  But most of these kids probably just want to get to lunch and so forth.  But, remember, what he was originally going to do was tell them, "Write letters about what you can do to help me." That was his original intent. Somebody had to dial him back in, somebody reined him in. Somebody had to protect him from his own instincts.

So they got the teleprompter up there. The teleprompter put the right words. I'm telling you, he didn't believe a word of it.  He wouldn't have guys like Van Jones in his administration if he believed this stuff.  He wouldn't be talking about "green jobs" and all this garbage not gonna matter a hill of beans.  He would not be talking about nationalizing health care and trying to nationalize as much of the US economy as he can.  He wouldn't have taken over General Motors. He wouldn't be shutting down almost 90% of the Cadillac dealerships in the country.  He wouldn't be doing any of this stuff.  If he would leave us alone... You wait 'til you hear highlights of this speech.  We'll play some for you here before the program closes today, and you tell me when you hear it why he doesn't just get out of the way and tell us this? Why doesn't he give a speech to the American people? "We expect great things from you. Your country depends on you."  He doesn't say that, does he?  He says the country depends on him; the country depends on government. The country depends on "working together with our enemies." He apologizes for the United States. I'm telling you, this is a feint, a fake, and it's on to set up health care tomorrow night and get the poll numbers up because he does not believe a thing that he said to America's skulls full of mush mere moments ago.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  No, Mr. Snerdley, President Obama did not explain to the young skulls full of mush today why he opposes school choice for the poorest among them, unlike his own kids. He did not explain that.  He did not explain why he wants people to stay in decrepit, broken-down, rundown school buildings with worthless administration.  He did not explain. He said, "You gotta go out and take responsibilities for yourselves."  That was the theme of his speech -- which was not the original intent of the speech, by the way. The original intent of the speech was, you know, a "Dear Leader" kind of thing, right out of the pages of the potbellied dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-il.  That's what it was going to be.  You gotta think about me all the time, you gotta write a letter to yourself about how you can help me, and they finally said, "No, you can't do that."

So they go out with this thing today which sets up health care tomorrow night.  The theme of his speech today was take personal responsibility, which none of his policies encourage.  None of his policies even allow it.  You want to take care of your own health care?  No way!  You're going to get a government-mandated health care plan regardless, and you can't do anything about it.  You can't assume responsibility for your own health care. You can't assume responsibility for your own job.  You can't assume responsibility for your own car. "No, no, no! You're too stupid to do any of that."  So he goes out and tells these kids, "You've gotta take personal responsibility"?  He never even does that in his own life.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, here's something Obama said in this speech to the kids. "When I was young, my family lived in Indonesia for a few years and my mother didn't have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself Monday through Friday at 4:30 in the morning.

Now, I wasn't too happy about getting up that early. A lot of times I'd fall asleep right there at the kitchen table. But whenever I would complain my mother would just give me one of those looks and say, 'This is no picnic for me, either, buster.'"  Well, a question: Why didn't Mr. Obama's mother have the money to send him to the school where all the American kids went?  His stepfather worked in Indonesia as a government relations consultant with a big US oil company: Mobil.  I mean that surely was a high paying job -- and if he didn't make enough money, they coulda gotten help from Grandmom Toots who was the vice president of a bank in Hawaii and who a few years later was able to pay the very high tuition for Obama to attend one of the most expensive private schools in Hawaii.

And furthermore, why did Obama's mother have to do these lessons at 4:30 in the morning?  She doesn't seem to have had a job at the time.  But even if she had, why couldn't she have scheduled these lessons at some other time such as in the evenings?  Wouldn't making a young child get up so early hurt him in school later in the day?  See, I don't believe this for a minute.  This is, "I'm Abe Lincoln at heart.  I chopped wood over there in Indonesia after I got my 4:30-in-the-morning school lesson."  It's one of these fantasies he throws in there to make his speeches seem a little bit more dramatic. It's like that bogus claim that he met Michelle in college.  He didn't. Or his claim that he wouldn't have been born if his parents had not marched in Selma.  He makes this stuff up.  It's Clintonesque.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  And we have some sound bites from Obama's speech to the young skulls full of mush this afternoon in Arlington, Virginia, Wakefield haskrool.

OBAMA:  Every single one of you has something that you're good at.  Every single one of you has something to offer, and you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is.  That's the opportunity an education can provide.

RUSH:  Personal responsibility.  He does not believe in this, he doesn't even believe it for himself, but none of his agenda items rely on personal responsibility.  He would never give this speech to the American people.  "I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.  Every single one of you has something that you're good at, every single one of you has something to offer and you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what it is.  That's the opportunity an education can provide."  Great stuff.  Great stuff.  But that's not what he believes.  Here's the next sample.

OBAMA:  At the end of the day, the circumstances of your life, what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you've got going on at home, none of that is an excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude in school.  That's no excuse for talking back to your teacher or cutting class or dropping out of school.  There is no excuse for not trying.

RUSH:  Now, this is laughable.  I'm sorry if this sounds controversial, folks, but no excuses?  He was elected by a bunch of whiners who wanted him to take care of them.  That's who voted for the guy.  Well, and some guilty white people who thought that maybe they could get rid of the nation's racial past by voting for the guy, but he was elected by a bunch of whiners who thought he was going to fix everything.  That's why he's in trouble.  Everything he's done to fix something has made it worse and people are starting to scratch their heads.  Here's the final sample.

OBAMA:  This isn't just important for your own life and your own future.  What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country.  The future of America depends on you.  What you're learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.

RUSH:  He doesn't know how right that is because they're not learning the right stuff in school today.  They're not being taught about the nation's founding; they're not being taught about the founding principles in most of these schools.  They're learning self-esteem and conflict resolution.  The future of America depends on you.  This is a standard graduation line: the future of America is in your hands.  You leave here today, and you alone determine the future. Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.  But nevertheless he's out there saying this stuff that is just so foreign to his agenda.  I mean let him give this speech to the American people.  He never would.  It contradicts every aspect of his agenda.

Southern California, this is Larry, welcome to the EIB Network, sir.  Great to have you here.

CALLER:  Yeah, hi, Rush.

RUSH:  Hi.

CALLER:  I wanted to point out something that is being missed about what's going on before.  Unless you're a school administrator you wouldn't even know this.  Normally when something like this happens a request would come from the US office of education to the local school districts and give them the option of whether or not they want to put this on.  In this case it did not.  It came from the office of education directly to the teachers and principals, in effect bypassing the school boards.  The school boards are the ones that have, you know, in a democracy are the ones that traditionally made decisions about whether or not these sorts of materials would be provided to classrooms.  This is a very anti-democratic way of approaching this.  This has not been done before.  Anyone who's worked in the US office of education will know that this is not the routine way things are done.  You ought to send this through the school boards first to give them the decision --

RUSH:  Well, but I read that some school boards said that they were not going to carry this because the parents had an outrageous reaction to this, as they should have when the original intent of this speech was not anywhere near what the content of this speech actually ended up being.  I read that some schools in Chicago said we're not going to do this, we're going to tape it and may play it later.  From a practical application, what difference does it make, the process by which the speech was approved to be shown in classrooms?

CALLER:  Well, the difference is that if you go through the normal channels, the way this is normally done, you give the school board, which is elected, the decision whether or not to air this material.  In this case, the school boards were completely bypassed, the local administrations in the school district offices were completely bypassed.  This was not done by accident.  These decisions are not made at the US office of education by accident.  This is very clearly a message to local school boards that, you know, you elected officials, you do not count.  We're going over your heads; we're taking this directly to the teachers.  It's a very, very anti-democratic message.

RUSH:  Well, okay, going to the teachers union and so forth.  I may be missing something but I know it's anti-democratic, but what's new about this administration?  School boards would have probably said yes.  I mean it's the president asking, for crying out loud.  It's the content of this speech and its purpose that remains, to me, the important thing and the focal point.  I don't know if people realize just how opposite everything Obama has said previously and is doing this speech was, or is, in its content.  Personal responsibility?  Do you realize every agenda item he has is based on the fact that you don't have any, that you're not competent to have any.  And that you're not going to be given the power to exercise your personal responsibility.  I think it's a clear indication based on polling numbers and a lot of other things they know that they're in trouble. So again, it's Alinskyite, you come speak within the realm of the experience of your audience. He knows parents are upset, this is to calm them down, and the whole thing was just a fib.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  I'll tell you something, if Barack Obama really wants to help kids in school he will cut their parents' taxes and he will cut the taxes of their employers.  We all know the original lesson plan here to accompany this speech.  The politics of this ploy is now out in the open.  He got caught trying to get the NEA union surrogates, the teachers to begin the process of endearing Obama to the students, all of this going on out there while thousands, hundreds of thousands of Americans are losing their jobs or getting their salaries cut.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to spend just a little bit more time on Obama's speech to the schoolchildren today.  I'm really, really struck by how insincere the whole thing is based on who he is and what his agenda is.  He gives a speech of personal responsibility to a bunch of kids, a bunch of school students that he doesn't believe.  There is no personal responsibility in his agenda at all, and I think if he was going to be true to himself, he would have quoted one of his mentors: Frank Marshall Davis.  Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Communist Party in Hawaii, was one of Obama's mentors.  And he wrote about Frank Marshall Davis in his book Dreams from My Father.  This on page 41: "Finally he asked me what it was that I expected to get out of college.  I told him I didn't know.

"He shook his big head and he said, 'Well, that's the problem, isn't it?  You don't know.  You're just like the rest of these young cats out there.  All you know is the college is the next thing you're supposed to do and people who are old enough to know better who fought all those years for your right to go to college, they're just so happy to see you in there that they won't tell you the truth: The real price of admission.  And what's that?  Leaving your race at the door, Barack. That's the price you'll pay for going to college: Leaving your people behind.'"  Obama writes, "He studied me over the top of his reading glasses.  He said, 'Understand something, boy.  You're not going to get educated in college.  You're going to get trained. They'll train you to want what you don't need.

"'They'll train to you manipulate words so they don't mean anything anymore. They'll train you to forget what it is that you already know. They'll train you so good that you'll start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that [bleep].  They'll give you a corner office and they'll invite you to fancy dinners and they'll tell you you're a credit to your race, until you want to actually start running things. Then they'll yank on your chain and let you know that you may be a well-trained, well paid N[-word] but you're an N[-word] just the same.'"  Barack Obama writing the words of his mentor, Frank Marshall Davis on page 41, in his book Dreams from My Father.  Now, this is not a guy who believes what he told these kids in school today.

He would have been more true to himself if he would have quoted Frank Marshall and he would have told them, "You kids in school, you're being set up. You're just gonna be used. By me!  I'm the one setting you up and I'm the one that's going to use you. I need somebody to pay all these taxes that are going to be charged when the bill comes due from my programs. So I do want you to go out there and get a job, but I don't want you to get too good a job. Just be responsible enough to get one because I'm going to need you as taxpayers."  He gives this speech today while hundreds of thousands of Americans are losing their jobs or getting their salaries or hours cut back.  Back-to-school spending was way down in August. But Obama's meddling in the schools is way up.  Here's the problem, folks.  If Obama really wants to help kids he will stop depleting the private sector of capital.  He will stop raiding the private sector and trying to turn it into the public sector.

He'll start letting people and their businesses keep more of their money so they can help their own kids.  I'm sorta half glad here that Obama is misusing the local public school system in hopes of forming emotional bonds with young skulls full of mush, because I don't think he's fooling anybody.  Well, no, he is fooling some people.  But we can juxtapose the president's actions with schools with his behavior that has been proven to be hostile toward employers.  I think Obama must have skipped school the day they covered free market capitalism.  He shoulda suggested the kids study up on that.  I mean, he has done more to destroy the private sector... We're only eight months in.  He's a busybody authoritarian who can't miss an opportunity to tell everybody what to do and how to do it better.  The fact that he wants to insert himself into our businesses, our borrowing decisions, education, doctor visits, automobile production, hand-washing?

I mean, he told the kids to wash their hands! He wants to get himself involved in every aspect of our lives while telling these kids that personal responsibility is up to them.  This is not a country he wants to lead.  This is a country he wants to change.  This is a country that he wants to have an authoritarian, collectivist government -- with a very odd group of friends and influences from Bill Ayers to Van Jones, Jeremiah Wright, Frank Davis -- and parents are supposed to apparently get comfortable with this.  It's just an amazing thing.  And, by the way, you know, this is not the first time a president has spoken to school students.  Byron York today in the DC Examiner: "The controversy over President Obama's speech to the nation's [skulls full of mush] will likely be over shortly after Obama speaks today...

"But when President George H.W. Bush delivered a similar speech on October 1, 1991, from Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington DC, the controversy was just beginning. Democrats, then the majority party in Congress, not only denounced Bush's speech -- they also ordered the General Accounting Office to investigate its production and later summoned top Bush administration officials to Capitol Hill for an extensive hearing on the issue. ... [I]n 1991 most of the controversy came after, not before, the president's school appearance. The day after Bush spoke, the Washington Post published a front-page story suggesting the speech was carefully staged for the president's political benefit. 'The White House turned a Northwest Washington junior high classroom into a television studio and its students into props,' the Post reported."

Well what the hell was this today?  This was a setup for the health care speech coming tomorrow night before a joint session of Congress.

"With the Post article in hand, Democrats pounced. 'The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students,' said Richard Gephardt, then the House Majority Leader. 'And the president should be doing more about education than saying, "Lights, camera, action."'" My, how things change.  Obama goes out there, gives one of this speech, "Oh, this is wonderful! Oh, this is so cool. This is really great. This is a wonderful, wonderful thing." In the meantime, with Bush in '91, the Democrats wanted to investigate him.

RUSH: Ingrid in San Jose, California, I'm glad you called.  You're next on the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hello, Rush. It's been a long time.  Anyway, I had just turned on the radio, and I don't really know what you talked about as far as Barack Obama speaking to the children, but I find it really annoying that conservative parents keeping -- you know, are keeping their kids home from hearing the president.  And it's kind of pathetic. It's a pathetic example of how these people are themselves ignorant of what makes a democracy work.  You know, we listen to all these different views, and -- and to call names to people and because they don't agree with their -- their politics, whatever, is just so stupid, quite frankly.  And, umm, and then --

RUSH:  Well, let me help you out here.  You didn't hear what I had to say about the speech.  Let me recap it for you: He lied through his teeth!  He talked about personal responsibility when he doesn't believe it.  He urged these kids to go out and take responsibility to work hard and so forth when there's not one damn thing in his agenda that promotes that.  He would never give this speech to the American people at large.  Whatever parents took their kids out of school did so because the original story was he was going to have 'em write letters to themselves about how they can help him.  He also probably violated the United States Code because there are laws in place that the federal government cannot walk into a local school district and take over.  You gotta go through the local school boards and so forth.  And he didn't do it, and the parents, the ones you're talking about, have said, "You know, the government has too much damn control over my kids' lives at school anyway, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let some socialist radical have at them when they'd otherwise be eating lunch or skipping school.  If he wants to speak to kids in school let him go through the right legal channels." You want to talk about democracy? This guy is standing it on its head, Ingrid! Wake up, for crying out loud.  I'll talk to you in another ten years.  I think that's the last time you called.

RUSH: Miami, Tiko.  Welcome to the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Good afternoon, Mr. Limbaugh.  It is an absolute pleasure to speak with you.

RUSH:  Thank you, sir, very much.

CALLER:  Mr. Limbaugh, in reference to the speech that Obama made to the children, I think there's another angle or motive that I haven't heard you talk about, and unfortunately to their credit I think it was quite ingenious.  Last week the administration announced that Obama was going to be addressing schoolchildren but they didn't release or disclose what the content of the speech would be.  And this, of course, made a lot of conservatives worry about what he's going to say and it became the hot topic since Friday I believe last week on all the conservative talk radio shows.  Now today Obama comes out and he says things that appear pretty reasonable and it makes all those people that were worried about what he was going to say seem like a bunch of kooks.

RUSH:  Well, there's no question that there is an attempt by the White House to create that impression, but there was some advance information that they were going to have the students write letters to themselves about what they can do to help Obama.  There is a genuine reason for the outcry.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  You know, I'm going to be real interested to see something.  That speech -- we talked about it in the first hour today. The speech that Obama gave to the school kids of America today, that speech was 100% conservatism through and through, start to finish. He even mentioned the word "God" in it twice.  Now, if George W. Bush had done that, the left, within five minutes of that speech, would be outraged.  "You dare mention God in the schools?  What about separation of church and state?  And how dare you tell these kids personal responsibility!" It's fascinating to me that probably the only guy who could go into the public school system today and deliver a 100% conservative message including God, is Barack Obama.  And I will lay you ten to one that there's not one shred of criticism from the left about that directed toward him.  I'll bet you there's not.  That illustrates a bunch of things.  One of them is that preserving and promoting Obama at whatever price is necessary and called for.  Plus they also know he didn't mean it.  His own supporters know he didn't mean a word of that speech.  But the third thing that it will tell us is that the conservative message is not so much what offends people on the left as it is the people who articulate it.  There is a personal animus those people have.

RUSH: Matthew in St. Paul, Minnesota, hello and welcome to the program, sir.

CALLER:  Thanks, Rush.  You know, Obama's address to the nation schoolchildren was not the first time he told Americans to take more responsibility.  During the campaign he said black Americans need to take personal responsibility if they want to improve, not to rely on the government starting with fathers taking better -- more supportive role in their children's lives.  As a result, Jesse Jackson said he wanted to assault his manhood.

RUSH:  Well, I do remember that.  The Reverend Jackson did say he would like to neuter Barack Obama.  And it you're right, it was somewhat related to that message of personal responsibility, but still, Bill Cosby has delivered that message, too, and he's been excoriated.

CALLER:  Yeah, there's a lot of political fallout on that side of the aisle when you say stuff like that.

RUSH:  Well, but there hasn't been.  His approval numbers are only as high as they are because he's had no leakage whatsoever in support from the black community.

Obama Calls Joint Session of Congress to Save Political Face
America's real crisis is the economy, not health care.
September 8, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: CBS News: "President Obama has said in recent weeks that he still supports a government sponsored health insurance option."  By the way, Steny Hoyer is out there today say, "Ahhhhh, we may not need to have a public option in there."  Steny Hoyer. (interruption) I'm sure she knows. It's all part of the game. Pelosi is out there saying, "Oh, we're definitely going to have a public option."  Steny Hoyer is number two saying, "Oh, we don't have to a public option."  Obama is out there saying "he still supports a ... 'public option,' but he has stopped short of calling it a necessary element ... For tens of thousands of his supporters , that is not good enough. More than 70,000 former Obama campaign staffers[i.e., robots], volunteers and donors have signed a petition, spearheaded by the liberal group the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, saying as much. 'We worked so hard for real change. President Obama, please demand a strong public health insurance option in your speech to Congress. Letting the insurance companies win would not be change we can believe in.'"

So here's CBS News with a story that, "Oh, my gosh, Obama seen in trouble from his left side! Why, his supporters are upset that he's pulling out the public option. Oh, please don't do this, President Obama!" They want to make it look like he's trapped.  He's not but it looks that way.  "'Unless liberals rethink this premise, and fast, Democrats will squander their best chance in a generation to end the scandal of the uninsured, bring health security to every American family and begin the long-term process of getting national health costs under control,' writes Matt Miller, who worked for former President Bill Clinton." This guy says that liberals ought to forget the public option because the public option will doom this thing to defeat.  Matt Miller says we got a bigger problem. Get rid of it; it's going to go down. It's toast, essentially, if the public option remains in it.

Folks, if we end up with a government-run health care program, it's a government-run health care program.  If we get a bipartisan bill, if we get a Democrat-only bill, if we get a health care bill that Obama's going to sign, I guarantee you it's a government health care bill!  If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.  You cannot have the government do a health care reform bill and not have the government be involved.  The two don't go together.  It's a government health care bill. (interruption) The cooperatives, yeah, and, "How about the exchanges, Rush?  The health care cooperatives, the health care exchange."  It's just different words.  By the way, co-op, commune, all that stuff? Forget it.  The trigger? Well, yeah. Now, that's the latest trick and that comes from Ben Nelson.  I don't know that he knows that he's actually being used here as a ploy or trick.

They're saying, "We should have a trigger required before the public option kicks in, and that is only if the private sector fails in doing its job of providing health care for everybody.  The public option should be triggered."  Well, who the hell is going to decide whether the free market fails?  A little clue here for you, folks: Obama long ago decided that back in Hawaii.  He doesn't like the free market!  That's why he wants to do this.  All of this talk about the public option not being in it? Don't fall for it.  The whole thing is going to be a public option.  The whole thing!  This is just rhetoric consigned to set up the speech tomorrow night to make everybody think, "Oh, Obama is responding to the people."  No, he's not.  He's thinking, "Okay, how can we trick 'em?  They don't want a public option? Fine! I'll say I don't care about one."

But anybody with a brain knows that if you have a health care program that the government's in charge of what the hell do you have? You don't have the free market running it.  This business about the uninsured, let me tell you something about this.  I mentioned this once before, maybe twice.  We ran the numbers on this.  The number of uninsured in this country who are generally uninsured who want to be is 12 million.  That's the closest anybody can come to it.  It's not this mythical figure of 47 million. The 47 million includes illegals, Martians, and any other group of people the Democrats can throw in there to try to evoke a little sympathy.  But some people don't want health insurance and choose not to buy it. They're young. They'd rather go out and buy a plasma LCD display, whatever.

Maybe save up from an extra container of McNuggets, whatever. They don't want health care.  So they don't buy it.  Some people work at a place that doesn't have it. There are 12 million people that want it.  Now, do you realize that every year we could insure -- for between 25 and $35 billion, we could insure -- everybody in this country that's uninsured.  That would accomplish the primary objective. The primary objective is, "This country is so unfair! It's just so cruel that 47 million people are without health care insurance," but there aren't 47 million who don't get health care.  A whole life people get health care whether they're insured or not.  It's called the emergency room.  But despite that, $25 billion or $30 billion to insure the 12 million uninsured?  You got that money sitting there in the unspent stimulus.  Why not just go get it from the unspent stimulus?

Why do we need a trillion dollars?  We need a trillion dollars because Obama wants there to be no personal responsibility to health care, except... Well, he's not going to know how personal responsibility and lifestyle. You're going to have that dictated to you, too.  That's what this is all about is trying to get as much power over every aspect of every individual's life as possible.  That's who the guy is. That's why the speech to the kids today about personal responsibility was a trick. It's a scam and it's a joke.

RUSH: Look, let's look at this speech tomorrow night.  Let me use that as a mechanism for explaining this.  The president of the United States has called for a joint session of Congress to solve his personal political crisis and to further damage the US economy.  It's all about him.  It is all about trying to make his audience tomorrow night think the opposite of what he intends to do.  What is the special occasion for Obama's address to Congress?  These are very rare.  The special occasion isn't for a State of the Union address.  We have not been attacked.  Congress is not counting electoral votes.  Now, there are reasons to call Congress together for an address by the president, but why call for an address to a joint session of the Congress regarding radical change in the way Americans receive health care?  When Obama has the votes, in theory he's got the votes in the House and the Senate to pass any legislation he wants and yet he's calling a joint session essentially of Democrats in Congress to help him save face, is what this is about.  This is a display tomorrow night of great weakness and it will be televised for the entire country to see.

As president, Barack Obama tried to cram a scheme to fast track socialized medicine and ration care through Congress in less than two months and a plan that still would not be implemented for four years.  It has been a spectacular political failure.  This is the equivalent of the Hindenburg crash and burn.  The only difference is there's no media out there reporting on the crash and burn.  That's the special occasion for calling Congress together for a semi rare joint session.  Obama's failure to muster the votes from his own party to pass a bill that would effectively seize one-sixth of the American economy and allow Washington to control virtually every aspect of our lives from publicly funded abortions to withholding end-of-life care, that's what this speech is about tomorrow night.  The American people collectively have said they like their private insurance.  They would like to see free market solutions and improvements to private sector health care.  They do not want the kind of third-rate medical care we see in Great Britain.  They don't want any part of it.

So, again, what is the reason for this unusual call for a presidential address to a joint session of Congress?  It's not to announce his failure.  Nope.  The purpose is demand that Congress override the wishes of the American people.  His speech tomorrow night, regardless how it's worded, is going to be a plea to the Democrats in the Congress, the House and the Senate, to override the wishes of the American people and to give him, Obama, what he wants so he can save face and have that monument built to himself.  He has a personal and political crisis on his hands of his own making.  The only real crisis facing this country at this time is economic in nature.  Specifically, the private sector has been half destroyed by the president's own hand.  The bills that he has asked for and signed have damaged the private sector's ability to create new jobs.  As a result, millions of Americans are out of work, families are suffering, there's no hope and change on the horizon, millions of employers are fighting to keep their businesses afloat, and he calls a joint session to get his rear end out of the bacon.  It's all about him.

He isn't calling for a joint session of Congress to deal with your pain, to deal with the economy and the lackluster future.  He's not asking the Congress take steps to get out of the way of the private sector such as tax cuts.  The president is calling for a joint session of Congress so that they can pass a debacle of a piece of legislation that will prevent the total collapse of his image to his own party.  The unbelievable part of this is that the plans Obama has for our health care system will add to the economic malaise that we are in.  His health plan will explode the deficit and create more joblessness and that's what Obama will be asking Congress to do tomorrow, make the economy even worse.  Because the priority is asking Congress to help him save face as a leftist, partisan, radical politician and further damage of American economy, because that's what's going to happen.  That's the practical end result.

I don't care what government program, war on poverty -- when you read the legislation of the war on poverty did you see anywhere in that legislation, "Oh, and this will destroy poor families, this will destroy the black family," did you see it in there?  No.  Wasn't in there.  When the left tells us, "There aren't any death panels in there, there's no end of life," oh, really?  It doesn't have to say it to be in it.  Welfare, the war on poverty, we were supposed to wipe out poverty and all we did was wipe out the black family.  But that wasn't the intent of the legislation, was it?  Just like in this health care bill, the words "death panel" may not be in there, but I'll damn well assure you there's going to be one.  There can be no other way.  So you got an economy that's plundered, you have an economy that is tanking, you have no hope on the horizon for job creation, and this guy is calling a joint session to get his rear end out of the bacon to save his image with his party and to get this health care bill passed so he can build a monument to himself.

RUSH:  All right, back to the phones, Punta Gorda, Florida, this is Bruce.  Thank you for waiting, sir, you're next.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.  Over the weekend I was with three of my neighbors and they're all medical doctors, not Ph.D.s.  Their big question seems to be with the 40 million people without health care insurance, regardless of reason, with potential of maybe 30 or 40 million more individuals that have union health care and corporate health care, if they all go over to the government-run program, excuse my French, but where the hell are all the medical doctors going to come from?

RUSH:  Well, this is a question everybody is asking.  If you enroll all of these new people with insurance and you start squeezing the doctors, which is what Obama's plan is, meaning reduce their reimbursements, where you going to get the doctors?

CALLER:  Well, they say right now they're pretty up to their eyeballs with patients and to throw this many patients upon them is going to create havoc in the system and that's what the program Obama's pushing is not telling you.

RUSH:  Well, a lot of people have figured this out.

CALLER:  Well, I wish the lay people had because down here in Punta Gorda, Florida, we have a lot of seniors and they really aren't aware that it might take a heck of a lot longer to see a doctor if they --

RUSH:  Wait a minute, now.  I'm sorry, but who the hell is showing up at these town hall meetings?  I think more people than you know are aware of all of the impending disasters that are in this plan, whether it be end-of-life counseling or the death panels or shortage of doctors and so forth, people are well aware that this is not good and they don't like it.  If they don't know the specific business about doctor shortage, they know enough to make them oppose it.  The deal about doctor -- again, what's frustrating is the market will take care of this if you leave it alone.

CALLER:  Yes.  That's true.

RUSH:  But when Medicare and when the government is telling doctors what they're going to get paid and how often they're going to get paid, more and more doctors are going to opt out of Medicare.

CALLER:  Well, I think they'll not only opt out of Medicare, the talk down here with my neighbors, three of them that surround my house say that they're just going to get out of the whole medicine business.

RUSH:  I've heard some doctors say that, too, but --

CALLER:  You don't believe it?

RUSH:  Well, no, it's possible.  We're in a heated, passionate moment, and if you put that much work into something it's cause you love it.

CALLER:  Rush, can a doctor then go on their own and whatever the government system has let that doctor just see some patients on his own or will he be too liable for whatever?

RUSH:  Well, see, now, that's an interesting question.  Under the House plan, there would be a severe penalty for this.  Once you opt out of any federal plan, Medicare or whatever, you can never get back in it.  But see, that's something too, that's already happened.  There already are doctors who have opted out.  There are doctors who charge a retainer.  They have a clientele of patients that they can handle, they charge a retainer and then you pay whatever it costs for whatever you need, and this is how they're opting out of the system.  But this requires a certain income level to be able to afford to see doctors this way.  But the messes that exist in the health care system exist precisely because of the government being involved and forcing solutions that are not market based.  And eventually people just say, "I can't live under this, I can't go being reimbursed 20% of what it costs me to provide treatment, or 50%, and I can't wait three months for it when they decide to pay me, the patient load here, these people coming in for every little nook and cranny that's wrong with them and so forth."  It's just a mess, and it's only going to get worse.  I don't doubt these guys being honest with you that they're that frustrated.

Obama's Angry Labor Day Picnic
The president flashes some fury in AFL-CIO speech.
September 8, 2009

YouTube:  Obama Rages to Cincinnati Crowd

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I watched a little bit of Obama yesterday in Cincinnati at the AFL-CIO picnic, and it struck me. I had the sound down. I'm reading closed-captioning. He looked mad. He looked angry giving this speech.  We have some sound bites.

OBAMA:  Some people have already forgotten how bad it was just some months ago.

FOLLOWERS: (angry murmuring)

OBAMA: You noticed that? They've got sort of selective amnesia.

RUSH:  What?

OBAMA:  A financial system on the verge of collapse!

FOLLOWERS: Yeah!

OBAMA: About 700,000 workers losing their jobs each month.  The worst recession of our lifetimes, threatening to become another Great Depression.  That's why we passed an unprecedented Recovery Act, and we did it without the usual Washington earmarks and pork barrel spending -- and, Ohio, it is working!

RUSH:  It is not! (laughing) It's not working, and there were earmarks galore in this thing.  This is a total fabrication.  All of that is a 100% laughable lie. (laughing) It's working?  They saved the economy? Seven hundred thousand workers were losing their jobs. It's still 600,000. I don't think the 700,000 was accurate, either.  It's always been more. Three million people have lost their jobs since this guy's "recovery plan."  It's working! And he followed it up with this.

OBAMA:  On Friday, we learned that the economy lost another 216,000 jobs in August -- and whenever Americans are losing jobs, that's simply unacceptable.  But for the second straight month, we lost fewer jobs than the month before, and it was the fewest jobs that we had lost in a year.  So...

FOLLOWERS: (cheering)

OBAMA: Make no mistake, we're moving in the right direction.  We're on the road to recovery, Ohio.  Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

FOLLOWERS (chanting) Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Yes, we can!

OBAMA: Yes, we will.  Yes, we are.

FOLLOWERS (chanting) Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Yes, we can!

RUSH:  All right!  I have made a decision.  When I go into a powerful monologue someday in the future, I'm going to do it with reverb like this guy does.  I'm going to make my voice sound godlike like he manages to do in all his speeches.  Yeah, I'll put some fake Greek columns up behind me here so that you can see them on the Dittocam. (interruption) What do you mean? What did it sound like? You mean the "yes, we can" chant?  What do you mean? I heard it.  What do you mean, what did it sound like? (interruption) Mmm-hmm. Oh, that sounded like a rally from an earlier time in history.  The whole thing had to be trumped up. They had to have a director and a choreographer say, "Okay, cue the audience: 'Yes, we can.'"  This is surreal.  It is surreal because none of this, none of this is true -- and the idiots in that audience, half of them without jobs, are just sitting there applauding all of this! (laughing)  Yeah, let's see.  Oh, one more before we go to the break.  This is Obama on health care.

OBAMA:  I've got a question for all these folks who say, you know, we -- we're going to pull the plug on grandma and this is all about illegal immigrants. You've heard all the -- all the lies.  I've got a question for all those folks.  What are you going to do?

FOLLOWERS: Wooooooo! (applause)

OBAMA: What's your answer?  What's your so-lu-tion?  And, you know what?  They don't have one! Their answer is to do nothing.

FOLLOWERS: (applause)

OBAMA:  Their answer is to do nothing, means more Americans dying every day just because they don't have health insurance.

RUSH:  Whoa ho-ho! The life expectancy is skyrocketing in this country.  More Americans are dying 'cause they don't have health insurance.  Patently untrue.  And there are all kinds of alternative proposals to health care, and he knows it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: All right, to Bloomington, Illinois, David, as we go back to the phones, great to have you on the Rush Limbaugh program, sir, hello.

CALLER:  Hello, sir.  Let me just give you a second, I'm actually a truck driver.  Let me turn it down so you can hear me better.  There we go.  Yeah, I was just going to let you know that you've done it, finally.  Your operators union, Teamsters Union, not the union itself, but the members are defecting, and you're in the teamsters' trucks.  They're listening to you.  They're listening to you and Hannity, all of you.  We're listening to all of you.  The union heads have become just like the government, and they no longer care what their people want.  They just want what they want.

RUSH:  Okay, so basically what you're saying to me is that you're sensing that union rank-and-file membership is starting to turn away from Obama?

CALLER:  Yep, yep.  Between the Second Amendment and the health care issue, 'cause I mean some of us have got really good health care, and it's not because the union gave it to us, it's cause the company gave it to us.

RUSH:  Well, but the union is claiming they got it for you from the company.

CALLER:  No. We have --

RUSH:  Wait a minute.

CALLER:  We have okay insurance --

RUSH:  Wait a second.  Are you here to tell me that you know members of the Teamsters Union who are saying good things about the company?

CALLER:  Yes.

RUSH:  Oh.  That is new.

CALLER:  Yeah.  It's because we are sick of the union leadership not doing what we want.

RUSH:  Well, you know, I know this is anecdotal.  We don't have any scientific data to confirm what you're saying so we could only hope that it's true.  I can tell you though that over the course of my sterling 21-year career I've had calls from various groups of people that are devoutly devoted to the Democrat Party.  "Rush, it's changing.  It's changing out there.  A lot of people are waking up."  And the numbers on Election Day don't change.  But in your case, in the Teamsters Union case, the rank-and-file is one thing, but your money is taking from you just like the government takes from everybody else.  Your dues go to the leaders and the leaders are going to give it to the Democrats and then you, of course, are going to be pressured to vote Democrat one way or the other.  If they get a sense you're not going to then they go out and get ACORN guys to show up and do it all.  But it's heartening news if it's true.  I wouldn't be surprised.  I think everybody watching what's going on here ought to be saying, "Whoa!  We made a big mistake last November.  This is not what we intended and we're putting the brakes on."  I think everybody ought to be standing up.

Everybody ought to be outraged and scared to death for the future of their country, if not for themselves, for their kids.  But sadly we're not at that point yet.  You go to the AFL-CIO rally that took place in Cincinnati yesterday and it sounded like a campaign rally from the campaign of 2008.  It didn't sound anything like presidential, and, of course, to get that crowd, to get that kind of crowd sounding supportive of Obama he had to go out and get one of his largest support groups.  This was not a cross-section of American voters.  This was the AFL-CIO picnic that he chose to attend out there.  That crowd was put together specifically for the "yes, we can" chants and to make it sound like it was a campaign rally.  It's all imagery because that kind of energy for Obama does not exist anywhere in the country.  It does not exist.  If it were genuine, then there wouldn't be these town halls happening as they are.  All of that stuff, that AFL-CIO picnic -- you may be on to something out there, David -- because if that sentiment was of its own and genuine, then Obama wouldn't be in trouble.  But he is.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Kathy in La Porte, Texas. I got 45 seconds and I wanted to get to you.

CALLER:  Yes.  You wanted confirmation.  I'm a United Steelworkers member and we're listening.

RUSH:  So...?

CALLER:  Wanted to ditto the truck driver.

RUSH:  So the Teamster who told us that more and more rank-and-file union people are starting to have some doubts about Obama and are listening to this show and others...?

CALLER:  Absolutely, yes, sir.

RUSH:  And you're agreeing with what you're hearing, I assume?

CALLER:  Yes, sir.  Definitely.

RUSH:  Well, now, what's turned your mind here on Obama?  Obama was the guy, the savior, the guy you voted for, this was the guy that was going to make it all good again.  What happened?

CALLER:  Well, personally I did not vote for him.  I voted independent.  But, those of the union that did vote Democratic became very, very concerned when Bush signed in, what was it, a $708 billion stimulus package before Barack Obama's presidency.  That's when we started getting really concerned for our children, our grandchildren, our great-grandchildren.

RUSH:  And the great-great-great-great-great, you're right.  Absolutely.  Keep it up.

The Great Gibbs Screws Up the Animal House Food Fight Analogy
Citizens have started a food fight against the elitists.
September 8, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Every time the American people rise up and protest something that Obama does, in this case the parents of America getting all upset over the speech to their kids in school today, the White House insults them.  Here's Robert Gibbs yesterday on board Air Force One en route to the AFL-CIO picnic in Cincinnati.  By the way, I watched a little bit of that.  Obama yesterday was livid.  Did you see that speech at the AFL-CIO?  He was mad as hell about things.  You can tell that some of this stuff is indeed getting to him.  Anyway, here's what Gibbs said.

GIBBS:  It's a sad state of affairs that many in this country politically would rather start a -- an Animal House food fight rather than inspire kids to stay in school.

RUSH:  Everybody wants kids to stay in school.  It's in the Democrat-run school districts that people are dropping out and not being educated.  And this, by the way, was not about inspiring kids to stay in school.  The original intent was inspiring kids to help Obama.  But do you remember the food fight in Animal House?  Somebody needs to tell Gibbs that Americans loved the Animal House food fight.  It's one of the favorite parts of the movie.  You seen it, Dawn?  All right.  Let's remember what happened here.  Why did audiences like the food fight so much?  I'll tell you why.  Because elitist control freak, arrogant frat boys were secretly working with the jackass dean, whose name was Wormer, to get food thrown on their preppie clothes and their snotty, stuck-up faces.  That's why people liked it, because the elitists got it handed to them.

So when Obama had seen lesson plans drawn for teachers to jam down elementary children's throats, Americans didn't bend over and say, "Thank you, sir, may I have another?"  Gibbs made the perfect analogy here with the Animal House movie, he probably didn't even realize it.  Barack Obama is Dean Wormer and his administration is all these elitist frat boy kids who think they're better than everybody else lauding it over everybody. He's working with an elitist fraternity with members in it like Van Jones and Bill Ayers and the State-Controlled Media, and their goal is to run the campus, the country, for their own benefit, and the rest of us are just a bunch of Blutarsky slobs not smart enough or cool enough to be in their fraternity.  The last time I watched Animal House the joke was on Dean Wormer and these arrogant frat boys.  The food fight that we're having -- if that's what Gibbs wants to call this -- the food fight we're having now isn't hurting anybody.  It has the whole country laughing at people like Obama and Gibbs who think they're too cool for the room.

Oh, by the way, I see that Peggy Noonan has finally come around and realized something I pointed out during the campaign:  Obama is not cool, he's cold.  He's a cold, ruthless, calculating guy.  And do you remember the circle of irony in that movie Animal House, at the end of the movie John Blutarsky, who was played by John Belushi, the character John Blutarsky went on to become a United States Senator.  Do you remember at the end of the movie, the guy that started the food fight at all of the elitists -- Gibbs, you're an idiot, you're a flat shoed bird brained idiot, you have just used the perfect example.  We are, we're the frat kids that are not cool.  Your boss is Wormer, you're one of the assistants, and the rest of your administration is a bunch of too-cool-for-the-room frat boy, exclusive elitists, arrogant, impudent snobs looking down on us, and you want to ram your little agenda down our school kids' throats.  And rather than bending over and saying, "Thank you, can I have another," we said, "Keep your words out of our schools."  Then you have to backtrack, Gibbs, had to do a speech Obama doesn't believe.  Obama had to deliver a speech that was entirely conservative in its message, 100% conservative in its message.  Why?  Because this is a conservative country and the only way Obama can get his leftist agenda is to make people think he is not who he is, but he's got a problem with that 'cause he's got guys like Van Jones all over his administration.

NEA Promotes Obama Propaganda
He has politicized the National Endowment for the Arts.
September 8, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to review some things that happened while I was gone sound bite-wise.  August of 2009, what we have here first up is a conference call between the editorial page's Kerry Picket at the Washington Times, and the spokesman for the National Endowment for the Arts, Yosi Sergant.  And the conversation here is about a conference call in which the NEA tried to recruit artists to push the Obama agenda. And the Washington Times' Kerry Picket says, "I understand there was a conference call on August 10th that the NEA invited producers, artists, marketers, et cetera."

SERGANT:  The NEA didn't invite.  We were a (garbled) called... There was a third party that was the invitation.

PICKET:  I'm wondering if you could send me if possible a copy of the invitation.

SERGANT:  Ummm, it didn't come from us so I don't -- I don't have it to distribute.  You would go to them for that.

PICKET:  Uh-huh.  So who was the third party?

SERGANT:  I believe it was Michael Skolnik, the Corporation for National and Community Service.

PICKET:  Michael Skolnik?

SERGANT:  No, he's -- he's the third party.  But the corporation set up the conference call and who conducted the conference call.

RUSH:  Now, there is separate audio which has just surfaced, and this Michael Skolnik guy who works for Russell Simmons, the hip-hop, the rap guy, Russell Simmons. The Skolnick guy says that the White House and the NEA asked him to set up this call.

SKOLNIK:  This is Michael Skolnik.  I am based in New York, and I'm a filmmaker for the past ten years, but currently serve as the political director to Russell Simmons.  I have been asked by folks at the White House and folks at the NEA about a month ago, a conversation that was had.  We had the idea to -- I would help bring together the artists, independent artists around the country.

RUSH:  Now, what this is all about is the Obama administration using the NEA, a bunch of union people in their community organizing efforts to help propagandize the Obama agenda, all of it.  This was all brought up -- and this is part and parcel of left wing radicalism, this is part and parcel of the things about the Obama administration that numbers of people have been trying to point out for years, that they're not who they say they are. This was a propaganda effort today to make this speech at the school.  Even though the rhetoric was all conservative, the purpose of this speech today was to set up the health care speech tomorrow night and to blunt any criticism of that speech. "Well, he made such a great speech to the kids. He just wants the kids to be so well off and so forth."  So they talked about this Sunday on the roundtable of ABC's This Week and here's what George Will had to say about it.

WILL:  Recently there was a conference call arranged by the National Endowment for the Arts with a representative the White House for potential grantees or actual grantees of the federal government getting subsidies. The theme of it was how the arts community could help advance the president's agenda.  And I don't know how many laws that breaks, but I'm sure there are some.

RUSH:  The NEA, the National Endowment for the Arts.  So clearly there were laws broken in doing things like this, and all this stuff is taking place behind the scenes, and the interesting thing about it is it's no different than the White House organizing the union appearances at town halls.  The great thing about all that was that people showing up to protest health care at the town halls were just average, ordinary American individuals and going to websites finding out where they had to go, what time things were. They were showing genuine, real passionate opposition to the program.  The Obama people -- there was a story right before I left that his youthful supporters just aren't anywhere here. They're not showing up. Where are they?  Where are they out there for the Obama agenda?  It's all having to be organized 'cause there's no real, genuine passion for the agenda.

There may still be cult-like passion for Obama to help him get things done, but... It's all a positive sign because it indicates, you know, where the country is.  And the country is not anywhere near where Obama sees it and wants it to go.

Don't Doubt Me:  Democrats Push Health Care at Kennedy Memorials
Tears from heaven and prayers for gov't health care.
September 8, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let's go back and relive August 28th, 2009. On this program, I made a prediction about the Ted Kennedy funeral.

RUSH ARCHIVE Lots of storms in the East Coast.  You got Tropical Storm Danny moving up there, and you got other storms moving in.  I'm just waiting. In fact, I'm going to make a prediction to you.  Somebody like Andrea Mitchell (NBC News, Washington) or Chris Matthews (who on Wednesday proclaimed Barack Obama the last remaining Kennedy brother)... I will predict to you that sometime this weekend somebody in State-Controlled Media will tell us that these East Coast storms, that Tropical Storm Danny arriving just in time for the Kennedy funeral is symbolic of the heavens crying for Ted Kennedy.

RUSH:  And, lo and behold, we have two winners.  We have Andrea Mitchell and we have syndicated radio talk show host Stephanie Miller commenting on the weather and the death of Senator Kennedy.

MITCHELL:  This driving rain is (voice breaks) perhaps the perfect weather for such a sad day, the tears of heaven coming down.

MILLER:  Perhaps God crying over, uh, Senator Ted Kennedy.

RUSH:  Don't doubt me, folks. Do not doubt me. I mean, right there in my prediction: Somebody like Andrea Mitchell will say that the rain at the Kennedy funeral symbolic of the heavens crying for Ted Kennedy.  Here, listen again. I made the prediction, play sound bite number two again.

MITCHELL:  This driving rain is (voice breaks) perhaps the perfect weather for such a sad day, the tears of heaven coming down.

MILLER:  Perhaps God crying over, uh, Senator Ted Kennedy.

RUSH: I also predicted, ladies and gentlemen, that throughout the Kennedy funeral service, the memorial service, that we'd get constant mentions of health care and, "Do it for Ted!" Lo and behold, here's a montage of a bunch of people from Friday, August 28th, and Saturday, August 29th.

GRANDCHILD KILEY KENNEDY: When people think of Ted Kennedy, they think about the man who changed the lives of millions by fighting for THE better health care.

CARDINAL THEODORE MCCARRICK: ...By his passion  for adequate health care.

FATHER MARK HESSION: ...The needs of the poor, social justice, health care.

JOE KENNEDY II: If people don't have health insurance, you stay in the race.

SENATOR CHRIS DODD: ...Every American, regardless of the economic status. be granted the right to decent health care.

BOSTON MAYOR TOM MENINO: We will have reforms in health care for Ted Kennedy.

VIETNAM VETERAN JOHN KERRY: He labored with all of his might to make health care a right for all Americans, and we will do that in his honor.

OBAMA: ...A veritable force of nature in support of health care.

MAX ALLEN (GRANDCHILD): For what my grandpa calls the cause of his life -- in every part of this land, that every American will have decent quality health care as a fundamental right, and not a privilege -- we pray to the lord.

CONGREGATION: Lord Hear Our Prayer.

RUSH:  Don't doubt me.  Do not doubt me.  And, remember, I caught hell for saying this was going to happen. Last summer, last April, I caught hell for saying this is going to happen.  And the reason I caught hell is 'cause they knew I was right, not because they thought what I said was inappropriate.

Remember:  Van Jones is Obama
These radical cohorts of Obama show us who he is.
September 8, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  We'll start on the phones here in Port Byron, Illinois.  Sherry, thank you for waiting.  You're up.

CALLER:  Thank you, Rush.  Mega dittos.  I just want to know if your listeners and just the rest of the country has fury over the fact that our president chose to be advised by a communist.  Van Jones is a communist, and his divisive speeches were not unknown to President Obama.  Just because he wasn't vetted by Congress doesn't mean that Obama didn't know who he was dealing with.  He selected this man.

RUSH:  Well, yeah, that's why I said at the beginning of the program in talking about this, Van Jones is Obama.  Van Jones was not vetted.  He was a czar, and the czars are not vetted.  They don't have to fill out the seven-page questionnaire.  Nobody knows what they get paid.  They work directly for Obama.  Valerie Jarrett, who is at Obama's right hand, as close as she can get with Michelle sitting there watching, is the woman who picked out Van Jones.  And Obama knew who he was, and he's an avowed communist and so forth.  Obama's mentor was an avowed communist, Bill Ayers.  You know, it's a tough thing to say because people don't want to believe this about their president.  They just don't want to believe it.  It's going to take more and more Obama actions for this to be clearly seen.  And then you've got State-Run Media, which refuses to report on any of this, until the resignation happens, then they go after right-wingers for making it happen.  "We gotta find out who these people are, we're going to investigate these people," and so forth.  And that's because they hate us as much as they love and support Obama's agenda.  Defeating us and keeping us from being influential is as important to them as advancing Obama's agenda is.

So my point to people is that Van Jones is Obama is Van Jones.  There's another Van Jones at the FCC, the diversity czar there, Mark Lloyd.  He's another one of these people.  Valerie Jarrett is one of these people.  A lot of these czars, Ron Bloom from the Service Employees International Union who is the car czar and is now the manufacturing jobs czar.  They are Obama.  Well, yes, I'm frustrated about it, Snerdley.  Snerdley ask if I'm frustrated about it because I warned people about this during the campaign.  Yeah, it is what it is.  I also know that people don't want to believe this kind of thing about their president.  If Obama is sounding like a god and a messiah during the campaign and somebody's out there saying, "Don't be fooled by this, folks, we're dealing here with a hard-core leftist radical who wants to basically overthrow this country's institutions," people don't want to hear it.  And then you've got the State-Run Media out there, "Limbaugh is just a creep, just a kook, just da-da-da-da-da."

So, yeah, I get a little frustrated by it 'cause I'm not surprised that guys like Van Jones end up at the White House, I'm not surprised that guys like Mark Lloyd are over the FCC.  I'm not surprised that hardcore leftist radicals have been appointed to positions with no accountability.  They do not have to undergo Senate confirmation.  I'm not surprised at all.  I mentioned to you that I was invited by President Bush on my birthday, January 12th, to go have lunch, a farewell lunch at the White House.  And he told me he's going to have all these czars and they're not going to be accountable to anybody.  Bush told me this on January 12th, and I came back and I told you this, "He's going to have all these czars," and how did Bush know?  Obama told him.  Obama told him he's gonna go the czar route.  Obama's not intimidated by anything.  He's not intimidated by people knowing what he's going to do.  P people don't want to believe it.  They have to see it and they're starting to see it now.

And, you know, there's another thing, too.  I keep hearing, like on my golf trip, I can't escape this.  I went out with like-minded guys, and even these guys were saying, "Rush, it's not going to matter, the media still says what the media says and the media still doing this, and media still portrays you as a wacko, most people think you're a wacko, and we're never going to make any headway here."  I said, "When was the last time you watched ABC's World News Tonight with Charlie Gibson?"  "Well, I never watch it."  "When's the last time you watched the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric other than when I'm on it?  "I haven't seen it a long time."  "When's the last time you watched the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams?"  "Well, I don't when to watch it."  The audiences for these shows are down the tubes.  Fewer and fewer people are watching.  Now, the New York Times audience, they don't know about Van Jones, if that's all they read and there are some people who still watch the evening newscasts, but I guarantee you they're trending upward in the age demographic, but they're not the all powerful monolith that they used to be.  And I think it's incumbent on people to understand here that progress is being made and there's reasons for optimism, but it's not a time to let down your guard.

When I say these people are going to govern against the will of the people, it's not just these people, it's liberals forever.  Clinton had to governor against the will of the people to get what he wanted.  They all do.  Liberals cannot ever be honest about their agenda.  They cannot ever be honest about what they're going to do.  They always have to use conservative language to advance their ideas.  This is not a leftist radical country.  It is not a country that's in Obama's image.  The only thing is he doesn't care about that.  Most politicians who wanted to go down in history as great would understand what the people want, understand when they've overreached and govern accordingly, that's what Republican politicians tend to do.  With Obama, it doesn't matter to him.  In fact, I'm going to keep saying this 'til I'm blue in the face, all this chaos, all this unemployment, all this worsening economic news, it's by design!  It is necessary.

Old Media Outrage Over Van Jones
Brokaw and Friedman denounce the Internet "sewer."
September 8, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  This is hilarious.  This is Meet the Press on Sunday.  During the roundtable David Gregory spoke with Thomas Friedman of the New York Times about the resignation of Van Jones, and Gregory says, "In this information age, you could be a target real fast."

FRIEDMAN:  David, when everyone has a cell phone, everyone is a photographer.  When everyone has access to YouTube, everyone's a filmmaker, and when everyone's a blogger, everyone's in the newspaper. When everyone's a photographer, a newspaper, and a filmmaker, everybody is a public figure.  Tell your kids, okay, tell your kids, okay, be careful.  Every move they make is now a digital footprint.  You are on candid camera.  And unfortunately the real message to young people from all of these incidents, okay, and I'm not here defending anything anyone said, but from all these incidents is, you know, really keep yourself tight, don't say anything controversial, don't think anything, don't put anything in print.

RUSH:  Oh, really?  Van Jones, he can run out and talk about all of these horrible, rotten things that Republicans are and it's just the Internet's fault, it's bloggers' fault, the Internet, you can't trust what you see out there.  These are the people who purposely distorted what Mark Steyn said on this program about a cult-like belief that Obama was setting up the students, said he was employing cult-like policies of Saddam Hussein, when he said just the exact opposite.  He said, "I'm not saying it's like --" they purposely misreported.  There's so much misreporting, there's so many errors in mainstream media today, and these guys are worried about the Internet.  This all boils down to the fact that one of their guys got caught by us and they don't like that.  They have in their minds, they have the sole proprietorship in destroying people's careers and lives.  Ted Kennedy can do it to Robert Bork, he can try it with Clarence Thomas, but we cannot expose an avowed admitted communist radical like Van Jones.  And then of course the dean, the dean of network newscasters, Tom Brokaw, weighed in.

BROKAW:  A lot of people will repeat back to me and take it at face value something that they read on the Internet.  And my line to them is you have to vet information, you have to test it the same way you do when you buy an automobile, or when you go and buy a new flat screen television, you read the consumer report, you have an idea of what it's worth and what the lasting value of it is, you have to do the same thing with information because there is so much disinformation out there that it's frightening, frankly, in a free society that depends on information to make informed decisions.  And this is across the board, by the way.  It's not just one side of the political spectrum or the other, it is across the board, David.  And it's something that we all have to address, and it requires society and political and cultural leaders to stand up and say this is crazy.

RUSH:  Well, the only problem, Tom, is that everything that was uncovered about this guy happened to be true!  And you guys ignored it all, Did your best to ignore it, and you only reported on it once he resigned.  And, by the way, do you believe this story that Obama had no role in the resignation?  I don't buy it at all.  And Tom Friedman, he weighed in to finish up, and this I think typifies the thinking of the old media.

FRIEDMAN:  The Internet is an open sewer of untreated, unfiltered information, left, right, center, up, down, and requires that kind of filtering, by anyone.  And I always felt, you know, when modems first came out, when that was how we got connected to the Internet, that every modem sold in America should actually have come with a warning from the Surgeon General that would have said "judgment not included."  That you have to upload the old-fashioned way, church, synagogue, temple, mosque, teachers, schools, you know, and too often now people say and we've all heard it, "but I read it on the Internet," as if that solves the bar bet, and I'm afraid not.

RUSH:  So you people are idiots, you don't have the capacity to understand what you read, whether it's true or not, you need filters, you need the professionals, you need the experts like Tom Brokaw and Tom Friedman and so forth.  The Internet is an open sewer of untreated -- and every damn one of these guys works for someplace that has a very vivid Internet presence and every damn one of them has bloggers.  NBC's got bloggers; MSNBC's got bloggers; the New York Times has a big website where they've got bloggers.  So I guess it's an open sewer for them, too.  They just can't stand it.  Their monopoly is gone, they just can't stand that they are not the ones anymore to get to determine what's news and what isn't.

You're not supposed to have the opportunity to be this informed, that's the real problem.  You know too much.  This is threatening democracy in their arrogant, conceited view.  Every modem sold in America should come with a warning from the Surgeon General?  Who uses modems anymore, for crying out loud?  Do you use a modem, Brian?  I'm sure some people do, but every modem should come with a warning from the Surgeon General that says "judgment not included"?  That's right, and you're not capable of making your own judgment.  We have to let Tom Friedman and Tom Brokaw make judgments for you.  They're the ones that are qualified; they're the ones that are highly trained; they're the professionals.  You're just a rube, an idiot.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, Tom Brokaw, Tom Brokaw and Tom Friedman say, "Well, the Internet's a sewer out there.  Need to regulate it. We're the ones that he trusted and so forth." You know, I have a joke that I play on people.  I'll tell people that I heard a news story; I'll just make something up that's just totally false and wrong.  They say, "Where you hear that?"  NBC News!  I make a joke out of the fact that NBC News has any credibility whatsoever.  Brokaw and his ilk are out there saying, "You can't trust it if it's on the Internet." The truth of the matter is you can't trust it anymore if it's on NBC.  This is what more and more people are learning.

"It's the middle of the day so I couldn't do a drinking game, but if Obama gave this speech at night and I took a drink for every time he said the word 'I,' I would be inebriated."

HICCUP!

I just read Sarah Palin's op-ed about the health care debate.

The day before the "big speech".

The day before, and all of tomorrow the networks and papers will have to deal with it.......heh heh heh.......

The Pres. must be furious. Rush must be delighted. Bet he leads off with it tomorrow.

I just read it as well. It was a great piece that was short and to the point.

That is Sarah's job at the moment — to be the spokeslady for the GOP.

Rush will definitely cover it tomorrow, and it will no doubt be one of his lead pieces tomorrow.
