WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama had a blunt status update for America's permanently wired youth on Tuesday: your Facebook postings could come back to haunt you.
Obama's advice to a group of high school students followed reports that prospective employers may be mining social networking sights for background information on job applicants.
He offered his nugget of advice to a student at an Arlington, Virginia school who asked him in a roundtable how he could get to be president.
"First of all, I want everybody here to be careful about what you post on Facebook, because in the YouTube age whatever you do, it will be pulled up again later somewhere in your life," Obama said.
"And when you're young, you know, you make mistakes and you do some stupid stuff.
"I've been hearing a lot about young people who, you know, they're posting stuff on Facebook, and then suddenly they go apply for a job, and ..."

BHO has taken the First Amendment Online for a ride. Brace yourselves or let's chit-chat as much as we like about him.
Something we agree on. Today’s youth, and adults for that matter, are so willing to post so much personal info on social networks, including pictures, that will one day haunt them.
Where can I find the text of his ORIGINAL speech before the changes?
With him stupid thigs on Facebook would include any statement critical of Democrats or himself.
I think he should mind his own business.. Like you..
But apparently, an inability to spell can still get you a job at the AP.
Hints of Van Jones....
Does this include the stupid posts by the stupid Cambridge Police Department or just from the other Stupid People?
I don’t know ... Facebook and Twitter have seemed to work pretty good for Sarah Palin.
Spelling apparently counts for nothing these days. My manager doesn’t know the difference between “to” and “too”, and *I* am *his* freakin subordinate!
IOW be invisible like I was. Nobody knows nuttin’ ‘bout me and I ain’t gonna tell.
sounds like he is speaking first hand about how his administration weeds out job applicants
those critical of the dear leader need not apply for fed govt jobs
ever
How is it that he forgot to mention that the White House has put out bids for a contractor who will mine all of Facebook for email addresses and whatnot? There has been a thread here on FR about that if IIRC.
lulz. “these children posted stupidly”
Source for the 3 photos above: New Black Panther Party Jerry Jackson's MySpace page.
Note: the page has very recently been deleted (~7/30/09) and now only exists in the following linked Google cache version, thus the long url:

UPDATE! (Aug 3, 2009): The MySpace cache version has been dramatically altered and no longer contains the troubling images above and others like them. However, the following linked Washington Times article has several screen captures of the original page, although, for some reason, they apparently do not include any of them waving the guns around. Perhaps they do, I just didn't see any on my first attempt.

Although it [The New Black Panther Party] says it sees capitalism as the fundamental problem with the world and revolution as the solution, the new party does not draw its influences from Marxism or Maoism as the original party did. Instead, in a carefully-worded, roundabout form of ethnic nationalism,[8] they say that Marx based his ideology and teachings on indigenous African cultures, and that the NBPP therefore need not look to Marxism or Maoism as a basis for their program, but can look to ideologies that stem directly from those African origins.

I thought he was addressing elementary school kids. Most Kindergarten & 1st grade kids aren’t posting anything stupid on the internet that’s going to keep them from getting a job. Unless Van Jones has been posting since he was six.
What pansy @ss guns those black panthers are holding. They’re proud of THEM?
