In case of a swine flu pandemic the French government has a plan to introduce emergency measures that would gut legal protections for citizens, the daily Liberation reported Tuesday.
According to documents provided to the daily by a judges' union, the plan would extend the period police can keep a suspect in detention without charge or a hearing before a judge to up to six months.
Suspects would also not be able to contact a lawyer until after spending 24 hours in custody.

Listen up, America.
The left always wants us to be more like France ...
That is the problem with emergencies, they are often a open door for the unscrupulous, whether politicians or other more common criminals, and to prey upon the innocent.
Why would they want to detain someone for 6 months if the flu runs its course in only a few days?
Oooh, I know. Because these dictatorial proclaimations (in France and elsewhere) have little to do with flu-prevention itself.
Including the guillotines.
The ‘powers that be’ in France will use this to jail their enemies. The government induced panic will shield the abductions. The secret courts will shield the trumped up charges. And during the six months detention they will ‘disappear’ or reportably die of flu in jail.
Why just six months? The flu scare can only be stretched for six months. After this much time it will be spring and the end of the flu season.
France sounds pretty tame compared to what’s already in the works here. http://www.24medica.com/content/view/429/2/
Obomba and his communists are watching this carefully.

I have no doubt whatsoever that is the plan for here as well. All of this hype, and yet it is less deadly than typical seasonal flu.
Already here? Wasn't there a thread in the recent days about one of the states already about to pass a bill eliminating the few freedoms & liberties that do remain?
They'll do this for just about any kind of emergency they can conjure up.
