How many are expected?
I read that there were almost 5000 bus unloading permits which would suggest about 200K people being bussed in.
I have changed my plans to allow much more time to get there by car!
Don't even TRY to drive downtown. Park at the Metro.
My guess is 500K to 1 million
I’m a little disappointed to read Michele Bachman is not on the list of confirmed speakers. She has been listed as one of the speakers to be there, all along, until the ‘confirmed’ list comes out. Not cool.
ANDY - Nina correct, try parking in one of the N. VA metro stations. A lot of FReepers from the convention will be getting to the Pentagon City station between 9:15 - 9:45. Not sure where parking is but is a business district so there should be a lot.
RE numbers attending. Yep, I think 500,000 is a good solid estimate, with at least half of that by bus. Now not all buses have requested drop off access from the Park Service, but the 5,000 buses is real close to the number I heard.

There were 10,000 people in New Lenox, IL yesterday and the ChiTrib TOTALLY ignored it...still no news story as of this morning’s on line edition...

Typically folks coming from S park at the Springfield Metro, just S of the Beltway, and take Metro into town. Commuters do it on a daily basis.
There’s a very large parking garage at that station. IIRC, parking is free on Saturdays.
That puts you on the blue line. You can take the blue line straight to the Metro Center Station (half hour ride, $2.35 each way) Those trains run about every 15 minutes on weekends.
Exit toward 13th Street, then walk to Liberty Plaza on Penn Ave.

Assemble as States
· No formal organization or reserved space for states
· Please bring state flags
· Look for your state, find folks from your state
Conduct
· We must clean up after ourselves and leave the walk/gather areas spotless
· We must be "Above the Fray"
· Live by: "What would mama say?" (i.e., if she knew what came out of yo mouth!)
· Keep your temper, do not allow yourself to be baited by trolls (that’s one of their tactics. They want to get us angry, video-tape it, and use it as propaganda).
· Stay nice no matter what
· No firearms or anything that looks like firearms (DC Police takes this seriously)
Security
· FreedomWorks has also organized our own security by former military volunteers
o They will be wearing distinctive T shirts
· Beware of infiltrators
· DC Police will be watching from rooftops and will have undercover officers mingling with patriots. They’re on the lookout for any unusual activity/agitators.
· Every security measure has been taken
Flags
· Must be on wooden poles: no metal
· Must have 2 blunt ends
· If you bring small flags with pointed ends, cover with eraser heads or foam
Safety
· We will have first aid station staffed by Drs/RNs:
· First Aid back packs will march with us
Where we meet
· We are not on the mall (there is a Black Family Reunion on the mall that day)
· We meet across from Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Ave (map @ 912dc.org)
Non Marchers/Disabled
· There will be an area for those who will not be marching roped off in front of stage
· Event is very aware of and accommodating of wheelchair/disabled folks
· Will have full sign language translations for all speakers
March
· There will be a clear path of travel, marked with signs and volunteers to show the way
· Colonial re-enactors will lead the way!
· What to bring
o Cannot bring rolling coolers:
o Bring Anything you can carry (strollers and wheelchairs exempt)
§ Back packs, bags, water bottles, a mister, munchies

OK, now I remember what "Freedom Plaza" is... across from the Willard, the JW Marriott and the Ronald Reagan Center (and I think the White House Visitors Center is nearby as well). Got it!
