The latest American Tea Party Express attracted thousands of residents Monday as they descended upon New Lenox Labor Day morning.
The unexpectedly large crowd caused traffic to be backed up a quarter-mile on Interstate 80 as well as forcing some participants to park one-half mile away from the Commons Performing Arts Pavilion in New Lenox.
Police indicated a crowd of 8,000 to 10,000 people showed for the event, far more than they were prepared for or anticipated. Despite the snarled traffic, the event went smoothly with little problems for an event of this size.
It was obvious this event had a different flavor than typical political rallies; young and old attended, Democrats and Republicans attended as well as everyone from bikers to lawyers battled the traffic congestion on a beautiful day to take part in The Tea Party Express.

Illinois I think. Small town web newspapers need to learn to put their state and country on their websites. Not a day goes by that I don’t read an article from a paper in a city, and they never tell me where they are located. Put it in the banner or something Web News People! :)

If we do not see REAL progress by Congress in cutting spending, jettisoning the idiotic health care bill, and so forth, we need to cause major traffic problems in D.C. on the day of the State of the Union Address early next year. That will get their attention!

New Lenox is a far southwest suburb of Chicago, close to the city of Joliet. Right in Obama’s backyard, so to speak.
