The Obama White House is blaming inadequate vettting for the misguided appointment of environmental adviser Van Jones. But while the White House undoubtedly missed some of Jones repugnant statements, it would be hard to imagine hiring anyone who has been in public life without knowing his reputation.
Moreover, Jones statements are tame compared with those of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., whom Obama considered a mentor for 20 years.
Jones, who became an adviser to the White House Council on Environmental Quality in March, resigned late Saturday after generating mounting criticism during the past week. Known by the unofficial title of Green Jobs Czar, he issued apologies for calling Republicans a**holes during a videotaped address in February and for signing a petition in 2004 supporting the 9/11 truther movement, which intimates that the Bush administration may have been involved in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.
During the 1990s, Jones described himself as a Communist and worked with a group dedicated to Marxist and Leninist philosophies. He has blamed white polluters and white environmentalists for steering poison to minority communities. In 2005, he drew a distinction between white and black youths involved in shooting incidents by referencing the 1999 Columbine High School massacre.

To be appointed to a White House job, candidates are screened by the Secret Service for arrest records and outstanding arrest warrants. The FBI verifies an applicants background and checks on whether he has ever been a member of a terrorist group, for example. But none of these reviews addresses political statements, which White House staff should check.
Valerie Jarrett, one of Obamas closest advisers, has acknowledged recruiting Jones.

We need to POUND THIS HARD...IT'S THE VETTING PROCESS (OR LACK THEREOF) THAT WE NEED TO POUND...AND OUND...AND POUND...THE WAY THE COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS AND LEFTIES MAKE A PHRASE AND STICK TO IT...SHOULDN'T EVERY ONE OF THESE CZARS FROM NOW ON BE REFERRED TO AS AN "UNVETTED APPOINTEE" OF THE oBAMA ADMINISTRATION?
Red herring.
They vetted him just fine.
That’s why they hired him.
“They vetted him just fine. Thats why they hired him.”
Pretty much my point. We need to call attention to the fact that the vetting process is ignored for those that are so repugnant that they could never possibly pass, and are brought into the government this way. About ten percent of the public understands this. And, no, he wasn’t vetted...we need to be clear about that so others understand that, too.
What's new? Obama blames everything on someone else. It's never his fault!
Jarretts late father-in-law Vernon Jarrett worked closely with a certain Frank Marshall Davis in a Communist Party front in late 1940s Chicago.

Obama alter ego Valerie Jarrett pays tribute to Jones before a friendly audience earlier this year: "Oooh. Van Jones, alright! So, Van Jones. We were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House. We were watching him, uh, really, he's not that old, for as long as he's been active out in Oakland. And all the creative ideas he has. And so now, we have captured that. And we have all that energy in the White House."
"He did agree with that statement and he did sign on to it," Berger said in a phone interview with Rosen. Berger said the group's "original board members individually confirmed all signatories that had signed on to the statement." Asked by what means the confirmation was obtained, Berger said: "They did it through email or on the phone."
An administration official said Jones never hid his controversial associations or remarks from the White House.
“Fox News correspondent James Rosen spoke with 911Truth.org spokesman Mike Berger on Friday and Berger said Jones knew what the petition said and agreed with its contents.”
I heard this...he was EMPHATIC about this...hwo did he sound when all the other news organizations interviewed him? hmmmmmmmph
You have it exactly right. Conservatives need to pound hard, not on the vetting process, but on the radical communists surrounding Obama. Obama is himself a radical communist. He has to be outed by showing that he has surrounded himself by radicals.
Yep, Just like Obama. Unvetted.
This is a huge key. It has to be proven for the people, that Obama knowingly and willfully recruited a radical communist, and has surrounded himself with radical communists.
“Yep, Just like Obama. Unvetted.”
Unvetted and unknown. All the idiots in the country who keep referring to him as a genius because he was “the first Harvard Law Review” blah, blah, blah...should be reminded that a lot of “firsts” have no significance beyond that...the “first black ballplayer in Boston Red Sox history” was “Pumpsie” Green (who ironically had a brother, Cornel, who was a great athlete - Pro-Bowler for the Dallas Cowboys)...who SUCKED and was out of baseball before he was 30...absent his course work, written grade scores and SAT’s etc., we don’t know who this guy is...but I’m going out on a limb and saying he is closer to being Pumpsie Green, not Cornell Green...
Not just quiet, but quiet since April. Five months. And still quiet. They wouldn't have been quiet if he'd appointed a communist.
It is not too much of an oversimplification to say that fascists are but right wing communists. they are both socialistic totalitarians.
>>>> And, no, he wasnt vetted...we need to be clear about that so others understand that, too. <<<<
Not sure I understand your point.
He was “vetted” by the White House, they liked what they saw, they hired him.
They knew his background, his statements, his writings, his beliefs. It all passed muster. Their kind of guy.
Who are you suggesting is supposed to perform the “vetting” you’re speaking of?
“They knew his background, his statements, his writings, his beliefs. It all passed muster.”
No, it idin’t. They did not impose their own “rules” for vetting...they are now admitting there was no filled out questionnaire...they broke their own guidelines for vetting this post. He was therefore NOT vetted by them, he was given a pass. The investigation to be called for now is, how many more are there they have done this with? Or, I guess, we can shrug our shoulders and let them get away with it...is that what YOU are suggesting?
You have taken the bait.
There was no “mistake.”
He was their kind of guy.
And the lamestream will continue to paint this as a story where a guy *oopsied*, used a mean word to disparage GOP senators and that caused him to be relieved of his position. Sheesh.
Van Jones got what he wanted.
Governor announces environmental job training program
WORK: Governor says program is largest in U.S.

Billing it as the largest state-sponsored green jobs training program in the nation, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Monday announced a $75 million program to train 20,000 workers for environmental jobs.
“We will need more workers to install the solar panels and insulate the homes and do all those things that we will need,” Schwarzenegger said at an announcement at Los Angeles Trade Technical College.
“We have two major problems in this state,” he said. “We have high unemployment. That is crisis No. 1. Crisis No. 2 is the environment. This Clean Energy Workforce Training Program attacks both those problems.”
Money for the program comes from a variety of sources, including $20million from President Obama’s recovery initiative, $12 million from the Public Interest Energy Research Program, $5million from the Employment Development Department and $23million from a public-private partnership.
“This is the largest program of its kind in the nation,” Schwarzenegger said. “It will allow people to get a career and a job that will allow them to support their families.”
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who accompanied the governor, praised the effort as an example of how to leverage federal funds to develop programs.
None so blind, etc.
