After a summer of healthcare battles and sliding approval ratings for President Obama, the White House is facing a troubling new trend: The voters losing faith in the president are the ones he had worked hardest to attract.
New surveys show steep declines in Obama's approval ratings among whites -- including Democrats and independents -- who were crucial elements of the diverse coalition that helped elect the country's first black president.
Among white Democrats, Obamas job approval rating has dropped 11 points since his 100-days mark in April, according to surveys by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. It has dropped by 9 points among white independents and whites over 50, and by 12 points among white women -- all groups that will be targeted by both parties in next year's midterm elections.
"While Obama has a lock on African Americans, his support among white voters seems to be almost in a free fall," said veteran Republican pollster Neil Newhouse.

Unfortunately, there is little the people can do about this malignant mistake (yes malignant because the cancer has spread throughout the executive branch) till 2012 at which time it may be too late. Unless something unexpected happens on the birth certificate front or OZero really steps on his crank big time or simply implodes under his own rhetoric, it is over IMO. Even were the GOP to retake one of the houses in 2010, the other house and the Oval office can thwart any tinkering with any of the junk laws they pass. Therefore, we MUST keep up the pressure on our “elected” representatives, even the most radical left of them, for them to do the right thing.
I actually agree with you on this. Blacks are not going to vote Republican and pandering to them will accomplish nothing other then alienating white voters. Republicans should start pandering to whites they way democrats pander to non-whites. Instead we get an idiot like McCain who wants to amnesty tens of millions of non-white illegal aliens who will vote democrat forever.
What about raised white letter tires? Are those racist too?
That is not quite accurate. Blacks will not vote for black republicans. They’ll vote as a bloc for whoever panders to them more.
Unfortunately, there aren’t enough whites in America to win national elections anymore. The fastest part of our population is Hispanic.
By the way, McCain was by far the strongest candidate that the GOP could field last time. It is hard to win elections when the Republican President has lost control of the economy and sent it into a tailspin.
Don’t forget it was Bush who decided to nationalize Chrysler and GM, not Obama.
They should be banned for the sake of consideration of color.
If there is more than one color on a tire, than someone may be offended by them.
A color should be chosen and a decree signed by those in power to keep the peace without offense. { ; > 0
There are enough whites to win elections if you pander directly to them. We might have lost 2008 anyway because of the economy and Bush fatigue but that doesn’t mean we would lose 2012.
And if McCain is the best we had in 2008 we better find some better to run for us.
I agree with you.
Combine union members, govt employees, and dead voters with minorities and illegals and the Baraqqi coalition remains quite formidable.
We should have better results in off year congressional elections when the Messiah hisself is not on the ballot.
Well, I guess my pickup truck will be racist for a while since I just bought a new set of raised white letter tires.
There is some reason for us to be paranoid about the innocent words we use in conversation.
A while ago, I was talking to my sister and used the word “niggardly” which is a perfectly legitimate word and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with race. It just means stingy. My sister called me a racist for using a perfectly good word.
Nowadays, anyone who tries to use the word “niggardly” will probably end up losing their job or be reported for being a racist.
By the way, McCain was by far the strongest candidate that the GOP could field last time.
I rest my case
The only way I can agree with you is that we need to make Affirmative Action and Racial Quotas cutting edge issues.
Right now, the Republican Party won’t touch it, they are fearful of being called racist by the New York Times and NBC News.
no that proves he likes to wash the car.
Yeah, I have been chastised for the same.
When someone is "stingy", one should just state their annoyance by saying "you really are the N word aren't you".
It really is getting out of hand.
I stand corrected. Duncan Hunter would have been the strongest Republican candidate, and would probably carried all fifty states. My bad.
“I saw a white guy in a WHITE car today. This proves that all white people are rascist!”
HEY, I’m white and I drive a white car, too. I guess that means I’m a racist, as well / sarc off.
They should run against
illegal immigration
legal immigraton (reduce and select for quality)
affirmative action
racial quotas
hate crime and speech laws (which seem to only apply to whites)
freedom of association restrictions
That is mighty white of you.
That is too funny. thanks
