How much are the King's Courtiers (Czars) costing us?
Self | 9/07/09 | ACH

First (and last) Vanity

What is the cost of King Barack's Court:

OK, for those among us who own small businesses, let's put our heads, experience, and talents together to analyze the cost to us for the King's Court, just like we would do if we were thinking of opening a new office:

Now, let's see, if each of the Czars has a salary of $150,000, plus benefits of 35%, that's $202,500 each. In round numbers that means $8,100,000 per year for 40 Czars (rounding up...one must anticipate expansion...)

Then let's add another $100,000 each for travel, meals and entertainment.

Now, let's assume they each have a nice office of about 1000 sq. ft. at Washington, D.C. prices of say, oh about $5.00 per square foot. That's $5000 x 12 = $60,000 = $2,400,000 for all of them.

Let's just give their hard-working staff the same amount of space, shall we? That's another $2,400,000

Now, let's add staff for each of, oh shall we say, five people? And let's just do a simple "average" salary for each staff member of $70,000. So, that's $350,000 per Czar. But wait! There's more! Let's not forget the benefits for the staff. That's another $122,500 per Czar.

Then, there's travel for the several "personal assistants" on the staff. So, let's figure two staff members also travel whenever the Czar travels. Just to be conservative, let's add another $100,000 for staff travel.

Lost yet?

Oh, and we can't forget the standard costs of running an office. You know, the stuff like paper, ink cartridges, telephones, and so on. Just to be conservative, let's figure about $2000 per month for that. That's $24,000 per year per Czar.

OK. Now, let's add it all up:

Czars = $8,100,000 in salary and benefits Travel= $4,000,000 Private Office for Czars=$2,400,000 Staff = $18,900,000 for salaries and benefits Office space for staff=$2,400,000 Office supplies=$960,000 Travel for (2) staff=$4,000,000

Here's the total bill all you nice folks who pay taxes are footing for King Barack the Mild's Czars:

$40,760,000 and in case you need help reading that, it's 40 million 760 thousand dollars and it doesn't include limo services, gym memberships and so on...

Now, fellow FReeper business owners, tear the above apart. Find the flaws, the missing pieces, and let's start spreading the news about what the King's Courtiers are costing us.

Didn’t W. have a WH staff that was about 2/3 the size of Clintoon’s. What is it with Democrats and their battalions of lackeys?

The green czar had a budget of 30 billion if what I read is correct

The real question should be how much do each have for a budget and what is the oversight of that budget.

Supposedly they have staffs of 10. The cost continues to mount.

“Find the flaw”? Simple, you forgot the Government Self-Aggrandizement and Inefficiency Factor which ranges from 5x to 10x. Bump your $40 million/year up to $200 million/year and you’ll probably be within spitting distance of the real number.

Of course, you’ve the Government Multiplier Effect which means that $200 million probably has the ability to cause a $20 BILLION disruption to the economy through distortions of markets, the creation of perverse incentives, and outright subsidies and paybacks to cronies.

Is there any chance that capturing the House in 2010 would allow the budget process to cut off czar funding?

FRANKLY AMERICA, I DO NOT GIVE A DAMN” ...

is the exact attitude Obama exudes. After all since he believes he is the anointed one ... why not?

the media have empowered his every decision/action.

It is time to turn our displeasure to the media that we see doing the bidding of Obama.

We must hurt them where they live (pocketbook/money, reputation, viewers)

organize and follow through with a boycott of all the programs where they appear and write.

It will only be effective if many concerned people actually do it.

Think about it.

King Obama is a communists and doesn't give a damn how much he spends. Look at he has done in these first few months, billions and billions. No way to stop this rotten piece of garbage.

Probably safe to figure there is nothing nice in DC for five bucks/sq ft. Never mind that if there is the govt couldnt find it.

When figuring the cost of a new business, it’s best if you attempt to figure everything out, cost wise and then double it. You’ll probably be pretty close. So doubling the Czars costs may be closer to the real costs.

Congress could yank funding from the Executive Office if they wanted to rein this in. Frankly I’m surprised the RATs in power haven’t made such moves to reinforce their own fief as they are wont to do.

I read somewhere that they each get 10 staff but I don’t know if it is true.

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) has introduced the Czar Accountability and Reform Act (H.R. 3226) to cut off the salaries of these czars (estimated at $172,000 plus their staffs of 10+ people). It's unlikely that the Democratic Congress will let this bill see the light of day.

H.R.3226

H.R.3226 Title: To provide that appropriated funds may not be used to pay for any salaries or expenses of any task force, council, or similar office which is established by or at the direction of the President and headed by an individual who has been inappropriately appointed to such position (on other than an interim basis), without the advice and consent of the Senate.

$40,760,000 ...

That is a lot. It is, however, only the direct, out-of-pocket cost. The real cost is the long-term, possibly permanent damage they can do to our nation and economy.
