WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is tapping a member of his auto industry task force to advise him on manufacturing.

Obama chose a Labor Day union picnic as the backdrop to announce his selection of Ron Bloom as senior counselor for manufacturing policy. Bloom planned to travel to Cincinnati with Obama for an afternoon announcement at the AFL-CIO event.

Bloom was senior adviser to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner as part of the auto industry task force since February. Bloom, a Harvard Business School graduate, previously advised the United Steelworkers union and worked as an investment banker.

Bloom will work with the National Economic Council to lead policy development and planning for Obama's work to revitalize U.S. manufacturing, the White House said.

Obama's speech to union members was the first of at least three speeches this week.

If I was looking for advice on manufacturing, union or investment banking experience is the first thing I'd be looking for. If you're going to change the way things are made, might as well go with someone who doesn't know how they're made in the first place.

Another UNCONSTITUTIONAL appointment. We need to stop this UNCONSTITUTIONAL crap now, not try and roll it back when it gets entrenched.

Very interesting! - one of the primary reasons for the closing and moving overseas of U.S. manufacturing companies, has been the suffocating pressure and power of organized labor - and that's a fact!!!

I’m beginning to think obama’s delivering on that “transparency” promise. His motives and his ideology are very, very clear. :)

I think we have to admit that we are NOT the manufacturing capital of the world.

What we do have is great natural resources....which will support other USA industries.

For example...The lumber industry and housing...Naw....we let the forests burn...that keeps firemen at risk, kills man and beast alike and pollutes the atmosphere way beyond what my car is doing...

What ever happenbed to common sense.

Yes, but investment bankers can help raise the funds needed to move.

So Obambi is going to fire up Marine-1 and then AF-1 to take himself and Bloom all the way to Cincinati to make the announcemnet when all he needs to do is do a perp walk out to the back yard and say “Hear is my new Czar”.

Another Radical. Visit Wikipedia to find his support for Labor Zionism:

“Labor Zionism (can be described as the major stream of the left wing of the Zionist movement. It was, for many years, a significant tendency among Zionists and Zionist organizational structure and the major stream of the Zionist movement. It saw itself as the Zionist sector of the historic Jewish labor movements of Eastern and Central Europe, eventually developing local units in most countries with sizeable Jewish populations.”

The existence of such a position and title alone should be raising flags all over the place.

just cementing in union support for 2012

don’t think the Baraqqis will go down easy

if we can capture the House in 2012 maybe we can use the budget process to cut off funding for czars?
