Valerie Jarrett - Also Raised out of Country

Jarrett was born to American parents James E. Bowman and Barbara Taylor Bowman in Shiraz, Iran, where her father, a pathologist and geneticist, ran a hospital for children as part of a program where American doctors and agricultural experts sought to help jump-start developing countries’ health and farming efforts. When she was five, the family moved to London for one year, returning to Chicago in 1963.

As a child she spoke Persian and French.

Jarrett got her start in Chicago politics in 1987 working for Mayor Harold Washington[6] as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Finance and Development.[7]

Jarrett continued to work in the mayor’s office in the 1990s. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, during which time (1991) she hired Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama, away from a private law firm. Jarrett served as Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development from 1992 through 1995, and was Chair of the Chicago Transit Board from 1995 to 2005.

Very few EOP officials are required to be confirmed by the Senate, although there are a handful of exceptions to this rule (e.g., the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and the United States Trade Representative). The core White House Staff appointments do not require Senate approval. The staff of the Executive Office to the President is headed by the White House Chief of Staff.

Is this a prerequisite for admission to the inner-inner circle?

I don’t believe that being born abroad really says anything about a person. What are her politics?

He wanted her in the Senate so he could have a sympathetic ear to Iranian issues, remember?

Jarrett is a member of African-American and Chicago royalty. But her story and her life begin in the Middle East, not the Midwest. She was born in 1956 in Shiraz, Iran, about 570 miles south of Tehran. Her parents moved to Shiraz, known for its poets, wine and flowers, as part of a program that sent American doctors and agricultural experts to developing countries to help jump-start their health and farming efforts. Her father was on the staff of the brand new Nemazee Hospital, where Jarrett was born. “Every memory from Iran is a very happy memory,” Jarrett told me in an e-mail...(video) article was scrubbed after this turned up...

Valerie was instrumental in many of the czar choices. She and Obie are tight.

She needs to be ousted along with her boss.

Her F-I-L was connected to Frank Davis, friend of Stanley Dunham in Hawaii, and Bill Ayers’ father was a client of the law firm that some of them worked for. The connections to Barrack go back to Hawaii, then to NYC, and on to Chicago.

Isn’t she one of the UNACCOUNTABLE CZARS?

As long as her parents were American citizens, why would it make
any difference or why would it even matter that she was born out of country?

I dislike everything about this woman and her boss, but I don’t think
it’s important that she might have been born out of country.

Jarrett is a long time admirer of Van Jones.

Would you need anything further about her politics?????

Living out of the country through age 6 or 7 hardly constitutes being raised out of the country. What’s relevant is what she has done during her adult life.

“I dislike everything about this woman and her boss, but I don’t think it’s important that she might have been born out of country.”

I think the point being made was that it seems to be preferable in elitist circles to have been raised outside of America, speak other languages, etc. The left still revels in telling us Sarah Palin just got her first passport in ‘07...the poor ignorant hick...

Okee dokee, I’ve got it now. I thought it was similar to the “out of country thing”
they tried to do to McLame, being born in the Canal Zone and all.

Thanks for the info.

Is it just me, or does this whole administration have loyalty issues?
