Man On Terror Watch List, Murder Suspect Arrested

Both Men Arrested During 'Operation Rolling Thunder' SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Spartanburg County Sheriff called a week-long special traffic enforcement effort named Operation Rolling Thunder a success.

Spartanburg County was just one of several agencies from across the state that took part in the week-long enhanced traffic effort along I-85 and I-26.

Some of the people pulled over during the effort were wanted on serious charges.

Sheriff Chuck Wright told reporters that deputies picked up a man wanted on a murder charge in North Carolina. He said he was found with an AK-47 on him.

"This weapon right here, it's a killing machine pretty much," the sheriff said as he pointed to the weapon.

Unfortunately, Frank Lautenberg wants to put anyone he wishes on the “terror watch list” for the purpose of overturning the second amendment. Read Senate Bill 1317: “Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009.” It permits the Justice Dept. to declare anyone it wishes a TERRORIST, without the necessity of providing evidence or proof.

I guess this dragnet makes up for the good sheriff's unauthorized $1.3 million expenditure on repair of his cruiser fleet over the last three years. I guess the rules of bidding and procurement does not apply to those in authority. To add insult, the county has its own repair facility. Finally, the lead agencies in this enforcement sweep were the SC State Police and SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED), not the sheriff's office. Still is good to get the vermin off of the street.
