I am putting out a call to Catholics all over the country whose children attend Catholic schools. Please call your pastor and the diocesan superintendant of schools on Tuesday morning and ask if Obamas brainwashing and propaganda address for the Socialist Party of American will be shown at your Catholic school.
Demand that it NOT be shown, if they have plans to do so. Many Catholic schools are showing this film wihtout the parents knowledge or permission. What is the request that the children pledge to help Predient Obama if not an attempt to pre-empt parents and recruit your children into Nazi-style youth groups. This guy is a predator.
It seems to me that Catholics (and others) send their children to Catholic schools and pay thousands of dollars in tuition because they want an alternative to government run (failing) schools.
Please express your disapproval with this.
I didn’t realize Catholic schools would be showing it. Parents have to get on this!
BTW, the “help the president” part was taken out, but it’s still not right to have a US president addressing all children in all schools, regardless of what he says. We don’t have a federally controlled educational system here in the US, we don’t have a “Dear Leader,” and Catholic schools should certainly know this.
Catholic schools, with VERY FEW exceptions, are nothing but hotbeds of liberal indoctrination...the sole exception being possibly (and only possibly) the pro-life issue. They, for the most part, attempt to indoctrinate our children not in orthodox Catholicism, but a slightly watered-down form of liberation theology.
If you have your kids in Catholic school because of faults in your public school system, so be it. If you want your kids to become “social justice” activists (with all the implications of that word), by all means keep them in your Catholic school. But if you expect the kids to be taught orthodoxy, be very, very, very careful. Make sure you know, in particular, what is taught in their religion curriculum and in their social studies curriculum, as well as pay particular attention to what their reading assignments are in their English curriculum.
This is not a universal condemnation of all Catholic schools...but you need to be just as careful when your kid is in a Catholic school as if your kid is in a public school. (That is, unless you want to pay thousands of dollars to have a flaming liberal turned out from school)
My Daughter (in 4th Grade) goes to a Catholic School (here in Omaha).
I have already contacted her Teacher and she indicated that she’s not going to be taking part.
But...Yes everyone should be vigilant!
Actually, that was one reason I took my kids out of Catholic school. This was a long time ago, of course, back in the 1970s and 80s, but even then they did not teach orthodox Catholicism and were big on left-wing activism. I felt I’d rather have my kids getting this from public school teachers than from people who seemed to be official representatives of the Church.
Things have improved now, slightly, at least. For one thing, many of the radical orders of nuns that ran these schools have imploded or gotten out of the education business (probably because they’re too elderly to teach anymore!) and some of the lay people who are taking over are actually much more orthodox. But a lot remains to be done.
You’re right, it’s necessary to be very careful when you send your kids to Catholic school. You can’t take it for granted.
I talked to our elementary school principal of Thursday at Open House and asked him if he was planning to show it and he said no, you cannot do that without the prior permission of the parents anyway. The next day he sent home a note with the schoolchildren saying it will not be shown. High school we haven’t heard from yet. The Catholic school doctrine (from K-12)where I live (Cincinnati) is pretty conservative, but the Catholic colleges are looney tunes Liberal. I don’t know how t he colleges justify it. I know ex-nus who are gaa-gaa over the likes of John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and Obama. WTH.
Our parish doesn’t have a school. It does, however, have a Jesuit pastor - his Sunday sermons toe the Obama line, down to and including weekly lectures on ‘Social Justice’ and ‘commemorating’ 9/11 with a ‘social service’ for others.
Even the Sunday version of the Union Leader has an editorial in favor of Obama’s propagandizing school children. The UL is a far cry from what it used to be. The front page story today quotes NH residents as being more concerned with their ‘personal’ debt than the ‘federal’ or ‘government’s’ debt. No where in the story is it pointed out who is on the hook to pay the ‘government’s’ debt. Way too many are still starry-eyed over BHusseinO, including McQuade the publisher.
If both public schools and Catholic schools are teaching error, it would be better to send the kids to a public schools so they wouldn’t have their souls endangered and their minds filled with the effluent of religious charlatans.
Earliest a.m. Mass + Homeschooling is probably the best solution.
Catholic Schools here are not showing it according to what I have been told.
Obama is overexposed on both TV and Youtube already. If he merely wants to encourage children to stay in school and get good grades, then he ought to produce a PSA (Public Service Announcement) and let the parents hear what he says. Although, I find it laughable for someone who has his own grades sealed, to be so arrogant as to think he is the chosen one to deliver such a message to anyone.
