Mercedes-Benz, Capital One, HSBC, Discover and seven other big firms are yanking their ads from Beck's show, boycott organizers said Wednesday.
"We applaud those companies that have recently pulled their support from Beck," James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org, said Wednesday.
"There are at least 57 companies who will not tolerate Beck's race-baiting comments."
The African-American political group went after Beck for declaring on his July 28 show that Obama is a racist with a "deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture."
About 145,000 members signed a petition asking Beck's advertisers to stop supporting him. And big companies like retailing giant Wal-Mart, Procter & Gamble, GMAC Financial Services, Best Buy, CVS and Travelocity complied.

I never pay much attention to advertisers and usually change channels during commercials. In this case, I am going to pay very close attention though, and will give my business to those who are willing to stay with him.
I have also heard that ColorofChange is lying and exaggerating the effectiveness of their boycott. If a lib is talking, he’s lying.
They'll get some advertisers to pull and then claim, “they're leaving him in droves.”
Yet Rush is still here and their networks are floundering
There are different types of media buys. Advertisers pay a lot more to advertise on specific programs. Other advertisers get cheaper rates by agreeing to have their ads shown on any program in a general time slot (i.e. weekday-daytime, prime time, graveyard shift, etc). Many of the advertisers you see during a particular program never selected that program to advertise on — their ad was just dropped in there by the network to fill ad time not purchased by program-specific advertisers. Just because all the ad time on Beck’s program is filled, doesn’t mean that program-specific advertisers haven’t beening pulling out, or that Fox’s revenue from the show isn’t dropping substantially. Any national network can always fill up all its available ad time — the issue is how much money they’re getting for it.
Just because you see an ad during a particular program doesn’t mean the advertiser chose to advertise on that program. See my previous post.

Thanks for the ad sales lesson. Would you care to tell us the revenue loss figures you speak of . Do you have internal add traffic reports tht we should know about.
I don’t work for Fox, so I don’t have specific figures, and I expect those are a closely guarded secret. I was just describing how TV ad sales work. A lot of people here seem to be considering boycotting or patronizing certain businesses based on whether they see their ads on Beck now, or whether they used to see their ads on Beck and don’t see them there anymore. I was just pointing out that it doesn’t work that way. If you can find information from a particular advertiser, saying that it has specifically pulled advertising from Beck’s show, then that’s significant information. But you can’t tell anything about an advertiser’s position re Beck just by watching to see what companies’ ads are being shown during the show.
yuk!
Tune in to see someone who truly loves his country...sees what is happening to it behind closed doors and is standing tall to do something about it!!! Glenn Beck!!!!
Actually it was more like listening to Jimmy Swaggart or Jim Bakker, but they’re ancient history. I really hope Beck goes back to speaking like a normal, intelligent person. I think he basically is just that, and I think he’s done a lot of good in the political arena via his show, but recently he’s morphed into something that’s more of a liability than an asset.
What did Beck say that was race-baiting? That Obama was racist? That’s his opinion. What happened to free speech?
I don’t believe Obama is racist. I believe he’s a Marxist. Are they going to take away my right to free speech, too?
You can’t call something “race-baiting” and then get away with trying to censor it. What the Hell is “race-baiting”? Having a negative opinion of a black man? Big deal!
Thanks, very informative.
Pretty sure the typo should have read: hire
Yep.
Glenn Beck really nailed this self-avowed communist, Van Jones. No doubt why the attack on Beck continues.
What the hell is the matter with you. America is in so much trouble that it will take serious Constitutional loving people to speak out. You obviously have a problem and if you don’t like Beck, then go somewhere else and don’t watch. Beck is emotional and he has reason to be.
