Chris Healy, chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party, called Obama's speech "perfectly appropriate" and predicted that children would be excited to hear it.
"I think people have got to relax," Healy said. "There is plenty to criticize the president on when he's speaking to adults. But he is a role model and a historic figure, no matter what you think of his policies. He's a smart person and he's a product of education himself."
With GOP Chairmen like this, who need Democrats?
Let Chris Healy let you know how you feel about his comments:

Yeah right. Really appropriate. NOT /sarc
I wonder why there are no elected Republican office holders in Connecticut?
Not directed at you, montag813, but at that numbnut Chris Healy.
Many. Matthew Daley for one. He's running against Joe Courtney in the second district.

Thus proving that Chris Healy is an idjit and that the GOP State Central Committee members who elected him are idjits. Any wonder why Connecticut is doing soooooo well?
You familiar with this putzhead, Pete ? Between him and Rell, it’s no wonder the CT GOP is swiftly headed towards doing its best impression of the deceased MA GOP.
RINOs, all.
Glad to hear it. Hopefullt CT will wake up along with the rest of America. Joe Liberman “ain’t” the answer either and obviously Dodd is not.
Healy is generally one of the good guys up here. Anyone familiar with him would understand that.
beyond that, I’m too busy working to comment on it.
There is just too much good news for Conservatives in Connecticut ... it is hard to believe the developments, really.
With RINO’s Simmons, Shays, and Nancy Johnson out of the way, the doors have opened for a new crowd of conservatives to emerge.
Matt Daly for Congress, district #2
Debicella for Congress, district #4
Bernier for Congress, district #5
Caligiuri and Schiff running for Senate.
Word is that Rell is retiring.
It is stunning how the RINO’s really aren’t a problem right now.
Just close to primaries to ensure the conservatives win.
If Healy is a good guy, I’d hate to see what a bad guy is in the CT GOP...
How are RINOs not a problem in CT ? You still have Rell, and Simmons is still the leader for the Senate nomination. Puzzling comment.
Rell ain’t running and Simmons will only win if the conservatives flop. IF OUR CANDIDATES REFUSE TO RAISE MONEY AND REFUSE TO ORGANIZE A CAMPAIGN, IS IT SIMMONS FAULT?
In recent years, the rule seemed to be “conservatives are not allowed to even run.” The RINO’s were an obstacle. SO we had NO candidates at all! (Without Healy, we probably would not have Daly and Bernier and Debicella as candidates.)
RELL is not even a RINO. She is a center-left placator. She never identifies herself as being a Republican. She is a non-partisan independent. The GOP does not want her. The RINO’s don’t want her.
If Rell’s not running, it’s news to me. She’s listed as a candidate for next year, with no Republican challengers. If she wins again, she’ll become the longest serving Governor in state history since the Federalist Jonathan Trumbull, Jr. (1797-1809).
Rell not running ... you can say you heard it on freerepublic first. Pro-family folks are supporting Amann (D) and Fedele (R - Lt. Gov.) or state Rep. Cafero (R).
RINO’s will unite behind McKinney, state Senator who opted out of race against Himes (D CT-4) because of the expected Rell drop out.
I DID NOT GET THE MEMO THAT CONSERVATIVES ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE OVER CONNECTICUT POLITICS. How is that going to happen since conservatives rarely participate in Conn. politics?
My note to CTGOP:
Every election cycle I give thousands of dollars to republicans/conservatives running for office and yet I give nothing to the state party. This is exactly the reason why.
Had no concerns been raised by conservatives President Obama and his socialist crew would have had school children writing essays on “how they can help their President”. This is not only anti-American, a sort of swearing allegiance to the POTUS, but it is weird as well. The POTUS should not be having personal relationships with millions of school children.
If he wants to go to a school and talk to some students, fine. If he wants to establish interpersonal relationships and asks for allegiance from the students that’s downright strange and yet you guys don’t even recognize it.
Once again in the next election cycle I will send donations totalling in the thousands to conservatives and the state Republican Party will get nothing.
I realize this won’t break your heart but I just wanted you to know anyway.
Regards,
