After months or "reorganizing," the rubber hits the road today at the Palm Beach Post. By the end of working hours, some 20 newsroom staffers will be gone in the latest round of buyouts/layoffs.
Some have already packed their bags and taken the reduced severance package. Award-winning feature writer Christine Evans left on her own volition recently and is now teaching at a private school. Photo Editor Pete Cross took the buyout early as well. So did Deputy Metro Editor Maria Garcia. A few copyeditors were given the heave-ho last night.
Updated: Resigning and taking the package is Assistant Metro Editor Alina Lambiet, who refused the "culture editor" job offered her in the reorganization. Notified today that her position was being cut was reporter Christina DeNardo. I will update as the day goes along and have been told that notifications will be finished in early afternoon.
This latest round of layoffs will bring the newsroom total to under 150 from a high of about 320 at one time. I'll update this post as news comes in.

A New Twist on Old Question: Who Can Be a Journalist?
Christine Evans?? The Newspapers lost a liberal reporter and the school gained a liberal teacher?
A few less liberals to generate propoganda (make up news) employed. Good bye.
Hope the door hits ya where the good lord split ya on the way out. And empty the trash can, too, while you’re at it, i’ll toss in a coupon for a free Subway sammich so at least you have food for a couple days.

20 newsroom staffers who, no doubt, voted for HUSSEIN.
Some of you Palm Beach FREEPers ought to stand outside the paper today with those “How’s that Hope & Change Workin’ for ya?” signs. :)

Starbucks Beckons.
More good news!
Was this rag involved with “reporting” the Rush Limbaugh addiction issue?
Yes, they were in the big middle of it. He mentioned the newspaper by name several times on his show, IIRC.
