Poll: Republican ahead in Kentucky race
The Hill ^ | September 4, 2009 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 09/04/2009 4:02:53 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Secretary of State Trey Grayson (R) leads both of his Democratic opponents in the battle to replace retiring Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.), according to a new independent poll.

Though he is known by fewer Bluegrass voters than either Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo (D) or Attorney General Jack Conway (D), Grayson leads both by slim margins.

Grayson outpaces Mongiardo by a 45-41 percent margin, while he leads Conway 46 percent to 40, according to the Research 2000 survey taken for the liberal Daily Kos website.

If Gayson is leading narrowly in a Kos poll, then his lead must be greater in the real polls.

There is more good news in this poll: Trey Grayson is not as well-known as the Democrats who are running, and he still leads them. And it’s notable that this poll was conducted on behalf of a very liberal organization.

Libs will cross-over and vote for him over Rand.

Good point. This liberal-sponsored poll also shows that Obama is highly unpopular in Kentucky.

Speaking of KY, I see the generally-regarded-as-safe Ben Chandler took a “bribe” from Charlie Rangel. The GOP in the 6th district should recruit a strong challenger and play that to the hilt.

AMEN to that! Oust ALL the Dems in KY, but of course there must be patriotic “real” Americans to replace them.

“The GOP in the 6th district should recruit a strong challenger and play that to the hilt.”

Here’s a name that comes to mind for me.

If the name looks familiar to you, it’s because his father & namesake ran against Scotty Baesler in 1992.

Daily Kos has actually been polling pretty well according to pollster.com. They ranked 7 out of 23 in calling the 2008 election, ahead of all the media polls except CNN, which was ranked just ahead of it at 6th. Rasmussen and Pew tied for first.

Most of the MSM polls were near the bottom.

Apparently the only declared candidate is a funeral director.

I email my thoughts to my representative, Ben Chandler, on a regular basis. I am currently waiting for answers to 2 questions...
How much did Rangel give you? When are you returning it?

Chandler refused to hold open townhall meetings this summer. He had a couple of “invitation only” events.

He is extremely weak. He proudly voted for cap and trade. Never mind that the great state of Kentucky is a coal producing state.

I will be doing everything in my power to get him defeated!

Half the battle is getting a viable candidate, which we don’t currently have. When we give these guys a pass or run desultory opposition, we don’t do our cause any favors.

Why wasn’t Rand included in the matchups? I’d like to see those numbers too.

He was, but it wasn’t mentioned in that particular article.

Thanks.

Not bad for a first timer but he has (more) work to do.

He looks like he’s cut out of a 1950’s era billboard.
