COMMENTARY
OKLAHOMA CITY The more we here at Red Dirt Report learn about President Barack Hussein Obamas speech to Americas school children (grades 7-12) on September 8, the more alarmed we become.
Our Dear Leader, (a.k.a. Barry Soetero, a.k.a. Son of Promise, Child of Hope) in an unprecedented move by any other president, will be addressing the youth with his high-minded notions of globalism, collectivism and swords-into-plowshares-styled hand-holding.
Sounds swell, eh? Nothing could be farther from the truth. This creepy, touchy-feely, political Harmonic Convergence of Big Brother-styled indoctrination is being forced upon school children and their teachers. In fact, students are encouraged to read propaganda books about Obama, like Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope by Nikki Grimes and Jonah Winters Barack.
So, will the children be encouraged to study the U.S. Constitution? The struggles faced by our Founding Fathers? Or stories of Americas unique place in the world? Doubtful.
According to WhiteHouse.gov, As children across America go back to school, President Obama will deliver a national address directly to students on the importance of taking responsibility for their success in school on Tuesday, September 8 at noon (EST) at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia.
According to the Guided Discussion that are supplied to teachers to follow Obamas speech, students are urged to comment on what resonated with them following the speech. They are asked to comment on the three most important words of the speech. They will be asked if they are inspired and challenged by Dear Leader.
We see that in Moore, Okla., the Moore Public Schools will be off for the day as part of a pre-scheduled site improvement day. Superintendent Debbie Arato told Red Dirt Report that they have had this site improvement day for the past five years "and it doesn't have anything to do with the president."
Arato added that the address to America's students will be recorded and shown to students at a later time. Moore Public School students will have a chance to opt out if their parents do not wish them to view it, Arato said.
Regardless of whether it's viewed or not, where does The White House get off trying to push its agenda on the youth of America, particularly in light of the crippling problems facing our economy, the ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and other pressing national issues.
Its crazy. If it were an address about physical education, something President Bush encouraged, or pushing reading or working harder in class, that would be different, perhaps. But in light of Obamas 2008 call for a powerful, strong, well-funded civilian national security force, this Sept. 8 address to the students reeks of tyrannical behavior. We already know Obamas Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, in his recent book The Plan, wants compulsory universal service forced on all young people. It appears Obama is preparing the youth for their austere, fascistic future. They have plans for you, all right.
Of course, if history is any teacher, we know that dictators and tyrants love to reach and mold the minds of the youth. Look at the Hitler Youth. Look at the young people in Italy under Mussolini. Its frightening and people are fortunately starting to speak out, particularly here in Oklahoma where not one single county went for Obama in 2008.
And as noted in a Tulsa World story today, state officials, primarily Republicans, are not pleased with Obamas speech.
This is something youd expect to see in North Korea or in Saddam Husseins Iraq, said Sen. Steve Russell, R-Oklahoma City.
And from Oklahomas congressional delegation comes this comment from U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, R-Oklahoma City; President Obama needs to stay out of the classroom and fouc on the very real concerns facing the American people.
But will the rest of the country pay attention? Will they tell the White House that they will not be indoctrinated by a community-organizer-turned-president who surrounds himself with Chicago political thugs, leftist goons, shrill eugenicists, grubby SEIU dirtbags and commie subversives?
Well, in the Tulsa World, districts in states including Texas, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Virginia and Wisconsin have decided not to show the speech to students. Others are still thinking it over or are letting parents have their kids opt out. And the White House has reportedly dropped a portion of the post-speech discussion regarding how kids can help Obama.
Good to hear it.

Deal?
“According to the ‘Guided Discussion’ that are supplied to teachers to follow Obamas speech, students are urged to comment on what ‘resonated’ with them following the speech. They are asked to comment on the three most important words of the speech. They will be asked if they are inspired and challenged by ‘Dear Leader.’”
Will the students be allowed to identify and discuss the rhetorical “tricks” employed? Will they be encouraged to critique the speech and its content? Will they be asked to play Devil’s Advocate? That would be a much more powerful educational experience than blind fawning.
“Dear Leader” indeed!
Ah, so it’s an experiment

Another good subject is science. You really don't need good scientific data just a lot of your friends (see economics above) touting the crises of -say- global warming. You can create mumble-jumbo reports like the ones saying man is the cause of global warming because the polar temperatures should have been two degrees lower this year. All you have to do is put down a bunch of fancy numbers in a glossy report and people will buy it. And if it preaches the right message, you'll probably get government funding just to make it look more official. Don't let people confuse you just because you can't forecast today's weather.
Then there is always Social Studies to learn. However, don't go too far back to WWII like that nasty Glen Beck. Just study the Kennedy dynasty and compare how I model it.
When you're all through with your education don't worry that there are no manufacturing jobs in the US. Heck, we're a service country. You won't mind working at a fast food joint because we'll raise the minimum wage to $10 an hour and give you free health care to boot. Of course we can only afford that until you're 45 but, hey, you'll want to make room for the next batch of kids. After all, it's your civic duty.
After the speech, kids will be presented with little red neckerchiefs and designated “Young Pioneers.”
The all-knowing Pappa Obama will instruct his little minions to follow him obediently. The little ones will be expected to make their Pappa Obama pledge?
If I still had kids in school I would go to the office and tell them I want my written blanket permission placed in my child’s school folder. Then I would tell my children to opt out of anything that comes along. In other words, for me and my children I would switch it to where OUT is default and “in” is what needs to be up for grabs. I would also get them to print this option in the PTA newsletter which goes out to parents, or I would bring it up at a PTA meeting. PTA is an underused “weapon”.
