LAKE VIEW TERRACE, Calif. (KABC) -- It was an emotional tribute for the 1,200 to 1,500 firefighters that gathered early Friday morning to say their personal goodbyes to the two firefighters killed in the Station Fire.
Capt. Ted Hall and firefighters Arnie Quinones both died Sunday afternoon when their vehicle went over the side of a mountain.
..."It was just important to bring closure," said Paul Lowenthal from the Santa Rosa Fire Department.
"It's not only a family within your own station. It's a family across the state, across the country, so we all look out for one another, and take it seriously," he said.
A public memorial is set up for the firefighters are September 12 at Dodgers Stadium.

I created this map using USFS GeoMac...shows the extent of the fire as of this morning (yellow perimeter)...I have also included the previous burn perimeters in the area. Red of course means active burn (as of this mornings satellite pass), orange burned 12 hours ago, black 24 hours ago.
They are doing a major burn right now on the SE portion of the fire, at Newcomb Pass
I am interested in seeing how this plays out.
I heard a report last night that the Bomb Squad had been on the investigation.
Anyway, they will find who did it. They always do.
Very revealing, BK. It’s all wilderness. Did you use satellite imaging for all your color areas?
Thanks for the update.
What a nightmare :( I’m glad you’re safe and hope they can control this fire soon- arson is beyond evil.
Probably one of the usual suspects they have a file on.....
Thanks, SE Mom. It’s unbelievable someone could deliberately start this.
God bless the fire fighters. May they rest in peace and that their murder(ers) are brought to justice.
My idea of justice is having the purpertrator replant trees on an uphill slope for a lengthy period of time Then find a big burnt out tree, tie him/her to it and lite a backfire.
I found a smoldering pile of rags on Sepulveda in an area that had been cleared about 8 feet from a wooden fence next to houses. The rags weren’t there when I passed by earlier. That was arson, but the fire fighters didn’t seem interested. Still can’t figure that one out.

Thank you for the post and ping, LE.
Gone too soon. God bless the souls of Arnie Quinones and Tedmund Hall, and may Jesus hold their families close at this time.
They look like such great guys and will surely be sorely missed.
I really hope they catch the perps and try 'em for murder.
These wildland firefighters are unsung heroes. The job they do is unforgiving. We just had a wildfire within 1/4 mile of my home...spent 24 hours wetting everything down. Pretty tense for a while...the wall of fire looked like a tidal wave. The firefighters did a spectacular job and got it out when it had burned only 105 acres.
Another firefighter died about 2 weeks ago in Oregon (absolutely no news coverage!) clearing an illegal Mexican cartel drug crop.
Thanks for posting this. Can you please add me to your ping list for fires?
Thanks for the map too BK, awesome work.
You bet. I will gladly add you.
The observatory and Mt. Wilson have been spared. At the link above, there is a video of the 747 dropping tons of water on Mt. Wilson.
Oh its Arson...I thought it was the fault of the firefighter unions for not buy enough 20 million dollar water dumping planes (/sarcasm).
