Suicide top cause of death among 15-34 years old

Suicide has become the primary death cause among people 15-34 years old in China, Deng Xiaohong, vice director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Health, said on Thursday, the Chongqing Evening News reported Friday.

Deng announced the finding a few days before World Suicide Prevention Day which falls on September 10.

Deng said suicide has become the fifth cause of death for Chinese people, with a suicide rate of 22.2 per 100,000 people. Roughly 2.25 million people attempt suicide in China each year, while 250,000 die from their attempts.

A recent global medical research study shows that 1 million people die from suicides worldwide each year, and 30 percent of those are from China.

OK while this is bad i do have to say that China has approximately 30% of the worlds population so it goes to figure that they would have 30% of the worlds suicides. That is like saying that 40% of sick days come on Mondays and Fridays.

I think their population size is a little over 20% of the world. So the suicde rate could be above average.

China's one child policy, combined with the tendency to abort or kill girl babies in order to have a son as the only child, has left a large number of young men with few economic prospects and no chance of getting laid-ever. While it seems some are turning to suicide, I think we need to be on guard for increasing militancy and aggression.

A friend in Shanghai pointed out to me while I was there this spring is that a major problem of this one child policy is the total spoiling of their kids. They can’t function on their own and are used to having their parents and extended relatives providing them with whatever they want.

She’s witnessed numerous times teenagers having full fledged tantrums on the ground like little kids do here...they can’t cope with daily life on their own...this doesn’t shock me.

This reminds me of a post about alcohol poisioning deaths in Russia. Said post was only a few weeks ago and it certainly doesn't make communism sound good.

This Godless communism suicide rate is just like the gay lifestyle which has such a high death rate.

Right around 20%. And a lot of these deaths are in very narrow age range.
