What lies ahead for the enigmatic and iconic Sarah Palin, who recently passed her first anniversary as a major pop-culture figure?
A little more than 12 months to the day, John McCain tapped the little-known Palin to be his running mate, lifting her into national prominence.
Palin has become a fixture in the pop-culture landscape. On Wednesday, I did a Google search of "Sarah Palin" and found 18.2 million items. With the exception of President Obama, who drew 75 million Google entries, has any individual dominated water-cooler chats as much as Palin throughout the past year?
The question has become one of America's most lively parlor games in political and media circles. On July 3, Palin unexpectedly announced she would resign as governor of Alaska with 18 months left on her term, triggering instant speculation she was headed for a career in the media. We're still waiting for a resolution.

Later in September, Palin will be a keynote speaker at the annual CLSA Investors' Forum in Hong Kong, joining former president Bill Clinton and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. That is pretty heady company, by any standard.

One thing is apparent: Palin isn't going away any time soon.
She is highly popular with a large segment of the American population, and an object of fascination, if not derision, for many. The media will continue to speak and write about Palin for the same reason -- the woman is so utterly unpredictable and will say practically anything, that she is great copy for us.
I thought that Palin's flame would have begun flickering by now. But I underestimated her staying power. People can't get enough of her. Palin's fans rush publicly to her defense amid the liberal media's onslaught, while opponents joyfully slam her at every turn.(continued)

Slick is going to be there? Sarah needs to be on her guard. Why do I have a feeling that this won’t be the last time the Big Creep manages to be in the same place as her.
We are real, they are not.

I bet Clinton will hit on her.
No he won’t- not if Todd’s around.
;-)
I bet Clinton will hit on her.
He will have to do a Dr Strangelove impersonation for the rest of his life.
Liberals acknowledging that her star won't fade.

"I don't think me calling House Republican members would have been that helpful. I tend not to be that persuasive on that side of the aisle." - Barack Obama, (acknowledging he doesn't know how to do bipartisanship and that his whole post-partisan gestalt is about as fact-based as the Easter Bunny. But he does know hope and change. -Posted by Dean Barnett on Weekly Standard
I interpreted that sentence to mean that Clinton and Tutu have spoken before that group, previously, not that they are on the same bill as Sarah allegedly is.
She’d skin that boy alive... he just wants to hit it.

"The woman" is consistent in her viewpoints, speaks from her heart, and is honest to a fault. Perhaps Friedman detests these old-fashioned traits.
As for lauding Russert, Cavuto, Schieffer and opining that he doubts Sarah Palin could equal their 'mastery of the interview' I think Friedman is showing us is deep-seated insecurity and possible fear of a strong-willed, traditional female.
......What lies ahead for the enigmatic and iconic Sarah Palin.......
Perhaps she will develop a new, kid centered Facebook item. She will capture the minds of more kid friends than the President in his NEA implemented propaganda extravaganza.
Poor old Friedman doesn’t know it but his Ivory Tower is obsolete
And then in 2012 it should all become crystal clear.

"...like that grizzly guards her cubs, as a mother naturally guards her own. I will keep my vow wherever the road may lead." - Sarah Palin, July 26, 2009

Say What?!!!!
Unlike 0bama, SP is learning how to reduce her media pressence for major effect when she does say something.
The tsunami of requests would overwhelm phone centers. Heck, there are members of Congress that'd like to have Sarah do an appearance for them!
She could ask students to submit essays on liberty and freedom and what they mean, then select a school among the best submitted in which to appear, and that's after doing a web-based appearance at the request of thousands of schools. No imposition here! HaHa!
Quick, somebody get Axeldumb on the phone and get him to cancel Obama's Public Dis-service Announcement, stat!
Nailed it! Not sure if it's hired help, or if it comes naturally for Sarah. After her mis-treatment by the media, I figure she's making the calls, now.
