Yes. Law-abiding citizens should be able to do whatever is legal.
No. It's needlessly provocative and could be dangerous.

I think its a bad idea, and I am not a troll!
Limits on rights also implies that you would also limit speech, assembly and other rights in front of the Pres[No matter the Party].
No thanks.
There’s no doubt some truth on both sides of this particular question, but you know how the leftist urinalists would view a “No” vote, and it’s not the same as what you’re thinking. They’d view it as evidence that further infringements on this most vital civil right might be feasible.
I think every citizen should have a right to carry a gun at these rallies. That said, I agree with you that strategically it is a stupid idea for any citizen to do this and may indeed lead to needless attacks on the second amendment. I write this as a radical Ron Paulite.
It may not be appropriate but it’s not illegal.....
I’m with you. It’s legal of course, but it is unnecessary, IMHO.
The only reason to carry a gun near the President is if you will be defending him. Otherwise it’s causing trouble.
What is the difference between a law abiding citizen carrying concealed or open? Think about it...It is all about political correctness. It has nothing to do with reality.
Just because something is LEGAL, doesn’t mean it’s RIGHT.
Yes, you have the RIGHT to wear a weapon whenever you want. But you may be a bit STUPID to wear it in certain situations or locations.
No matter who the President is, or what party he’s from, I wouldn’t openly brandish or display that I’m packin’ when a bunch of Secret Service guys are aaround. I think there’s a time and a place for everything.
Some of us don’t think that either the first or second amendment should be limited at these rallies but that doesn’t mean we think it is strategically is a good idea to exercise all aspects of those rights.
So what would we have said if ACORN members or other left wing groups were bearing arms as they protested GWB? I don’t think we’d be too happy...legal yes; wise, no.
"We didn't bring our guns"
"This time"
It’s not a good idea to allow people with guns near the President (other than those assigned to security).
Interestingly, it was legal in California to carry a gun in public until the 1960s when none other than Governor Reagan (wrongly IMHO) pushed through a law making it illegal after the Black Panthers carried guns in a march.
What’s a Constitution?
Sigh.
