"Communicating health reform goals"
JIM LEHRER: As you know a lot of the commentary over the weekend was that nothings going to happen getting from here to the final hurdle here unless you really start cracking some heads, and really say, Hey, this is the Obama plan, this is what I want. So much for what this committee wants and what that committee wants. Heres what I want. Im going to push and go. Are you ready to do that?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: You know, the interesting thing is weve actually been very clear on what we want. Ive said that I want to make sure that if you have health care youre going to keep it. Ive said that weve got to reform the insurance industry so people arent being excluded for preexisting conditions, that its not as easy for insurance companies to dump people when they change jobs or if they lose their job. Ive been very clear about the fact that it has to be paid for. Ive been very clear about the fact that we should have a public plan.
So weve laid a whole bunch of markers out there. And this week, as members of Congress have worked their way through this process and examined what all the options are, what were going to be doing is bringing some of them into the White House and
JIM LEHRER: To crack heads?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Oh, I dont know about cracking heads facilitating

CNN Uses Pro-Communist American to Tout Cuban Health Care
NewsBusters.org ^ | August 8, 2009 | Rich Noyes
Gail Reed
Theres something deeply wrong with journalism that scrutinizes and criticizes the institutions of free and successful nations, but produces puff pieces on the supposed achievements of totalitarian dictatorships. On Thursday, CNN aired a piece of Communist Party propaganda about how Cuba could serve as a model for health care reform in the United States, complete with an authoritative sound bite from an American medical expert, identified only as someone whos lived and worked in Cuba for decades.
But the expert, Gail Reed, is a longtime admirer of the Cuban revolution, married to the Cuban official who served as ambassador to Grenada in the early 1980s when U.S. troops liberated the island from hardline communists who had executed the leftist Prime Minister Maurice Bishop. She's also worked at Granma, Cubas official communist party newspaper.
[snip]
As for Reed, she was profiled in the Miami Herald back in 1983 after she and her husband returned to Cuba after American forces liberated Grenada. She talked about the fear she felt at seeing U.S. Marines surrounding the Cuban embassy, and told the newspaper, I feel I have a very strong identification with the Cuban revolution.
When I first came to Cuba in the 70s, I was very impressed with their efforts in building a new kind of society, Reed explained.
Funny how the MSM never seems to find these types of stories - even thought they're repeated in emergency rooms across the nation.
The way I know that NO ONE is being denied medical care is because if the MSM could fine ONE PERSON who was denied medical care, that person would be on the front page of the New York Times. This whole "health care fiasco" is based on lies. Lies anyone who has ever worked in a hospital could refute.
If their solution is based on lies, how good can it be?
Doctors call the poor "Jesus cases" but the cost of their care is subsidized by those of us who have private health insurance. So yes, the system we have for delivering health care to the poor is not that great - unless you're part of the health care rip off - but the Obama solutions are based on lies. And they will make it worse.
The current system is riddled with perverse incentives - and that's what has to be addressed. The problem is that those incentives were placed there by people who benefit from those "incentives". The way out is for citizens to be able to have free discussions about the real problems.
Or - in the old days - we could have had honest reporters looking into this - with fresh eyes. Now the press sits waiting for dems to tell them the right "take" on issues. I'm discouraged - but happy to see that people like you voodoo see a piece of the health care truth. That's the only way out of here...
PRESIDENT OBAMA: “You know, the interesting thing is weve actually been very clear on what we want. Ive said that I want to make sure that if you have health care youre going to keep it. Ive said that weve got to reform the insurance industry so people arent being excluded for preexisting conditions,”

Who is stupid enough to believe this? He says you will keep your existing coverage and then says he will stop insurance companies from excluding people for preexisting conditions. The second statement nullifies the first, if companies have to cover everyone with preexisting conditions then the premeiums will go so high nobody can afford them and the insurance companies will be out of the business. Obama knows this but he banks on voters being too stupid to know it.
Seems to me Lehrer said a lot of the COMMENTARY was that he had to “crack heads.” Jim Lehrer wasn’t saying that himself.
The way he posed the question, he obviously was fully on board with the sentiment, plus “cracking heads” was apparently HIS words, not anyone else’s.

While true, the Republican candidate, John 'Reach across the aisle' McCain was a joke of the worst kind.
Hey LEHRER—any time you want to try and crack my head, just let me know.
