First a church, now a synagogue. It ain't kosher. A union has placed a huge 12-foot inflatable rat outside the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale to protest the synagogue's use of non-union workers to install windows at its new extension. The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 9, is staging the protest. The union is targeting Diversified Glass, a Bronx company that declined to comment. Synagogue executive director Zev Steinberg said the house of worship's board "is aware of the protests and is evaluating the situation."

My first impression was there may have been a good reason for the protest, so I asked one of the picketers what the beef with the dealership was.
When he explained it was just about them not using union labor in their service department I was quite dissapointed in them.
The real "rats" were the ones carrying the signs. They slandered the car dealership for self serving reasons.
Teaching moment. Whenever I pass one of these mobs with my kids, I explain about intimidation sanctioned by the govt.

Unions are destroying our country.
I spent some time in an apartment building on the Battery, when I was commuting to work from Vermont. We had this giant rat outside our front door for a couple of weeks, because the management had fired all the union staff and hired their own people instead.
The hotel owners stood firm, and personally I found the rat rather amusing. If anything, it was a compliment to the management, IMHO.
Two weekends ago some union members were handing out protest fliers at the local Lowes (Sunnyvale, CA). They were upset that some nonunion shop won some work. What was really distressing was that a union goon was filming the entire union protest! Not sure if it was a defensive maneuver for the union in case somebody let them have it or if they were intimidating shoppers.
I would think there would be some adult in the union who would realize this. Then again, maybe not.
Wonder what happened to those guys who rolled a pig head into the mosque. Any one know?
I love the smell of free enterprise.
