'Feminist porn' movie Dirty Diaries, which received 350,000 kronor ($59,000) in public funding, is to premiere this Thursday in Stockholm.
The collection of 12 short pornographic films, all shot on mobile phones, is the brainchild of feminist documentary filmmaker, Mia Engberg.
All of the filmmakers are either female or identify as female (one of the filmmakers was born male), and the films are underpinned by the 10-point manifesto (See movie website) of the Dirty Diaries project (intriguingly, point 4 is missing).
The project received 350,000 kronor in production support from the Swedish Film Institute, which has attracted criticism from some quarters.
"My main issue with this is that taxpayers' money is being use to fund pornography. The fact that it's feminist porn seems to somehow make it okay but there would have been an outrage had it been regular pornography," Beatrice Fredriksson, co-founder of the Anti-Feminist Initiative blog and a member of the Moderate Party's youth organisation, told The Local.
Vanja Hermele, a gender specialist, journalist and writer told the Dagens Nyheter newspaper that she welcomed ‘Dirty Diaries’. She said that it was nice to finally see feminist porn that does not problematise women’s’ sexuality or deal with it as something difficult and hidden. Rather it “just does it”.
Engberg was only available to speak to The Local briefly, and was not able to respond to the criticisms of the film’s funding.
Dirty Diaries premieres at the Bio Rio theatre in the inner-Stockholm district of Hornstull this Thursday evening. There will be two further public screenings of the film at the same venue, on Saturday and Sunday. Engberg was quick to point out that the film is available on DVD – together with an interpretive booklet – from Wednesday, and can be ordered from the project’s website.
USA is so rich it can support 1 000 000 lawyers. Several of them might be useful, but I doubt there's any sane American who would say all of them contribute to society in a productive way.
In Sweden, people agree to pay a 25% sales tax (or sooner a “value added tax”) on most things they buy. Although I have lived here for 40 years, I've never heard anyone complain about this heavy taxation of private consumption. Perhaps this is because they get so many government goodies in return. Things like Feminist porn!!
Yes, people have too much money nowadays in the industrialized world. In many ways, life was better when my grandpa was young. Everyone had to work hard and they had to live a moral life in order to become successful.
I recently read a book written by Tore Wretman, world's first professor of gastronomy and a legendary chef (although not quite as famous as “The Swedish Chef” of the Muppet Show). At his first job at Hotell Continental in Stockholm during the 1930’s, he got beaten unconscious by the head chef. All the same, he refused to view the working conditions of that particular restaurant as unacceptable.
Furthermore, they had no government subsidized Feminist porn in the 1930s..

I don't know about the "too much money", but I would say they are "too materialistic." I think many families would be happier if they lived simpler lives rather than insisting that both parents must work to make ends meet.

Law schools are easy money and low cost. Never mind the degree is practically worthless with the bumper crop of law degrees in the market.
In fact according to the ABA there are more first year seats than first year students.
yet they keep accrediting more law schools.
Why? in tough ecconomic times, students stay in school longer to ride out the stom in the ivory tower. (did I mention they are making bar exams easier too?)
Perhaps all the nouveau chic worldwide film critics will give it rave reviews and lavish nominations for the Best new films awards and such dreck as all that rubbish entails.

I once had an work mate who was a son of Italian immigrants to Sweden.
According to him, quality of life in Sweden means having a more luxurious Volvo than your next door neighbor, while quality of life in Italy means taking your family to the local “trattoria”, enjoying a glass of wine and a good time with your family, neighbors and friends.
Fortunately, I think we Swedes are beginning to understand more and more of Italian culture while we continue
BUT, it's still like this in my case; when I'm in Italy I get somewhat of a bad conscience if I do NOT sit down and rest after a magnificent meal, while the opposite is the case in “Lutheran” Sweden.
A Swedish lunch break often is 30 minutes. In many parts of Italy, lunch lasts for two hours or more.
This doesn't mean Italians do not work hard. Some of the (seemingly) happiest people I've met have been hard working farmers in places like the Tuscan countryside.
By the way, in the Tuscan countryside, there are very few Liberals, Socialists, Feminists, vegans and such people..

Yep. It’s sick to see that the language of feminist jealousy and rape promotion for women gets a pass like this. Who in their right mind would give a rapist acquital on grounds that “she complains because she is jealous she cannot do it like a man”? Yet it is exactly what feminism is promoting, and it is no irony that they all side with the statutory rapists taking young women to abortion clinics.
Who is the stranger or made stranger to his own house here? Pornography is about exhibitionism in “stranger’s” houses, and it is one of the psychological/drug mainstay on giving up private property rights.
