The Reno Gazette Journal has a sit-down with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who addresses the Ted Kennedy question in, um, an interesting way.
Q: How will U.S. Sen. (Edward) Kennedy's death affect things?
A: I think it's going to help us. He hasn't been around for some time. We're going to have a new chairman of that committee, it'll be, I don't know for sure, but I think Sen. (Chris) Dodd, (D-Conn.). He has a right to take it. Either him or (U.S. Sen. Tom) Harkin, (D-Iowa), whichever one wants it can have it. I think he (Kennedy) will be a help. He's an inspiration for us. That was the issue of his life and he didn't get it done.
Nothing in here is particularly new -- Kennedy will help the cause, Dodd gets to carry the banner, Kennedy's work remains undone. But the straight-shooting Reid does have a gift for saying non-controversial things in the most controversial way possible.
Well, it certainly helps America, by getting rid of an entrenched communist turd. But don’t think it will help dingy much.
Harry is an idiot and always a day late and a trillion dollars short.
I don't think it's going to "help." The Dems want to keep that phoney Camelot mojo going, but that only works with the Kool Aid drinkers. They've lost the broader American public and Teddy's ghost won't help there.
I agree. Teddy’s death did help. It begins the purging of congress.
LOL out loud
He’s barely cold and this guy says his death was good for the Democrat Party. Thats just cold.
NV does not have a particularly good record of retiring loathsome politicians. And neither does its mother state, UT.
Wow, that’s ice cold.
Election night is going to be a treat when Nevada votes his ass out of office and replaces him with a Republican. The media will spin it the way they did Daschle’s loss at the time.

Well, we should celebrate then!
Good Lord, I can't believe he said that!
"Hey, Bill, I heard your grandpa died. That's too bad."
Yeah, well, it's going to help us because he was really rich and we're in the will.
Teddy is dead, but since he’s a dimorat he will still be able to vote in the senate, Mass, CA, NJ, IL and any other states he wishes for decades to come.
Bush's fault.
Democratcy in action.
No disrespect to Dodd, but aint he sick too?
You’d think some of these democrats would do the right thing and step down. Spend their last days or whatever time they have with their families. Make way for someone else to do the job for “the citizens of their state”.
The Crassness of Liberals. Reid is basically saying he is going to play the Kennedy sympathy card on the legislators using Kennedy’s death as a political tool...
They should all rot in hell.
I wonder does Obama feel the same?
Is it just me that sees that Reid is always 3 days late on his talking points?
