In four short years Carol Shea-Porter has evolved from a rabble-rousing, town hall disrupting anti-war activist who once had to be forcibly removed from a President George Bush event in Portsmouth to a Member of Congress who instructed armed security guards to remove a frustrated voter from her own town hall event in Manchester on Saturday.
In the appended video, Shea-Porter can be seen instructing security to remove a man for standing to ask a question without a ticket. Shea-Porter previously held a lottery to determine who could ask questions. She can also be heard taunting the man on his way out by saying, I do hope the movie theater can be a little quieter for you.
NowHampshire.com has learned that the gentlemen Shea-Porter removed, Carl Tomanelli from Londonderry, is a retired New York City patrolman.
Among the press and the public, Shea-Porters abrasiveness, once a hallmark of her putative independence, is now seen as boorish out-of-touchness.
Why does this have to be so hard, asks reporter James Pindell of NHPoliticalReport.com.
She has been getting such a pounding over not holding town hall meetings this week that it is beginning to get weird, especially because she is in the district, Pindell writes.
In recent weeks, Shea-Porter has become, in the words of one Democratic operative who asked to remain anonymous, unhinged.
This week she derisively referred to opponents of health reform as tea-baggers in front of a crowd of liberal activists. She also accused former Attorney General Kelly Ayotte of colluding with the so-called tea-baggers after she bumped into her randomly at a hotel bathroom in Portsmouth.
Ayotte is running against Democrat Rep. Paul Hodes (NH-02) for the Senate, not Shea-Porter and was delivering a speech at the hotel, not protesting Shea-Porter.
During a radio program last week, Shea-Porter waved off a hostile question about the constitutionality of the health reform bill she supports because, The Constitution did not cover everything. Her response to the caller was grossly inapt. She compared Congress efforts to establish a so-called government option for health coverage to the City of Manchester establishing a police force.
The irony is, of course, that Shea-Porter used to be a tea-bagger on the left, writes Nashua Telegraph columnist Kevin Landrigan. She stalked then-congressman Jeb Bradley at town hall-style meetings the 1st District Republican incumbent held throughout his district.
Four years ago Carol Shea-Porter protested at the State House alongside people dressed as Nazis while accusing the federal government of trying to brand us like sheep. On Saturday, she disparagingly referred to people who do not trust the same federal government to run our health care system as these people.
We remember when, Carol, do you, asks Landrigan.
That was totally different. Besides......Bush's fault.
Bump for later so I can put out a NH ping. Amazing how she can dish it out but can’t take it. Oh, Che? We see you hiding there, and we up here in NH have nice long memories. Don’t think people are going to forget this come 2010.
Do notice the SEIU (Sucks2BU) thugs with “tickets”
I live in New Hampshire.
I don’t understand how this cabal of marxist and bolshevik rabble was ever elected, including Rep. Hoades and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen the Abortion Machine.
I pray the citizens of NH wake up and give this rubbish the bum’s rush they so much deserve.
I predict the GOP will win both NH house seats.

That's a man, baby!
Look a bit to your south and you'll have your answer. The people of Nevada, for example, are asking the same question. They can look to their west and see the answer to *their* question.
I hope you’re right. She needs to be forcibly removed from office.........:)
Amazing how she can dish it out but cant take it.
All leftists are like that - thin skinned and misguided at best.
That’s not a fair comparison. For one, Mike Meyers has to TRY to look that butt-ugly. Second, he has a sense of humor and a brain.
NH-1 (Che), yes. Hodes is running for Senate, but some other moonbat will take his place. Sadly, the VT infestation has taken quite a root on the western side of NH. Mark Steyn lives in Lyme, and frankly, I don’t know how he does it.
Actually, look at the people from MA who have moved to NH, and they’re actually MORE conservative than a lot of the natives. Look to those moving here from VT, CT, and NY for the greater influence.
Che-Porter was first elected as a “Bush hater” when anyone with a “D” next to his/her name was a shoe-in. Then she rode the Obama wave into her second term... barely. So she really hasn’t had to present an argument or campaign platform for herself. She is one of the easiest targets of opportunity (for the election in 2010). After four years, Granite Staters recognize that she is clueless... and completely out of touch with NH. This is one district we can take back. Oh, YES WE CAN!
It depends on who’s nominated by the Pubbies. Che-Porter faces a popular Mayor.
NH ping! Freepmail me if you want on or off this list.
Yes, Guinta is popular in Manchester, but he’s got problems of his own and hasn’t had the fundrasing one would have hoped. Che, OTOH, for all her claims of “little people’s” support, sure does have a lot of money (over 60 percent according to OpenSecrets.org) coming from PAC’s.
I have also read that the people from Mass. that move here to NH are generally very conservative. The people who move here and then vote democrate are mostly retires from mid-atlantic states that move into the lakes region and southwestern part of the state.
The fact is the anti-war vote of 2004 is what did us in.
Also, the only US rep./US Senator who was ever really that popular in NH has been Gregg.
Actually it’s more like the folks coming from Vermont and the Mid-Atlantic states. In any case you may be right about the political reality now, but I hope you are not.
I did not see your post before I wrote this, but yes, I read the same demographic study from (I believe) UNH that found this was the primary reason for the shift. Keep in mind NH was never REALLY conservative along the lines of Utah or Oklahoma, and so the demographic tipping point came sooner.
