New Democratic plan: Delay public option until 2013 ?

It’s only Clyburn’s plan right now, but Clyburn’s number three in the House. And besides, they’re running out of alternatives.

The comeback for Democrats — if there is one — will begin in an all-important closed-door caucus meeting next week in the basement of the Capitol, where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her top lieutenants will try to undo the damage of the August recess and convince their wobbly members that a vote for health care reform will not cost them their jobs in 2010.

Leaders say their strategy is to convince members that nothing is set in stone and that they are more than open to negotiations. And they’re engaging in a softer sell, prioritizing health insurance reforms while pitching the public option as something that’s way, way down the road.

“We’re going to ask, ‘Where are you now? Is there something we need to add to get [you] to vote for this?’” said Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is charged with ensuring that the party’s most vulnerable members are reelected in 2010…

Clyburn, for his part, is advocating a “two step” approach in which the most widely supported health insurance reforms, like coverage for pre-existing conditions, go into effect immediately, while the public option is framed as a distant step — something that would go into effect in 2013, only after benchmarks and pilot programs are studied.

It’s pretty clear that the “Public Option” was a hell of a lot more popular before the “Public” started talking about it...

Incrementalism.

It works. And never to our benefit.

If it is no good now, why will it be any better 4 years from now?

Studies? Already done. Massachusetts, Oregon, UK, Canada. Cuba.

...a vote for health care reform will not cost them their jobs in 2010.

Ha. As angry as most of the Country is over the proposed "reform" ... anyone that votes for it is just about guaranteed a very tough time in 2010. The 'rat leaders can try to sugar coat it, but all they're doing is lying to their 'rat contemporaries - just like they've all been trying to lie to us. But the ugly, socialist, fascist, break-the-Country's-back expensive truth is coming out.

They need to dump the bill altogether.

You are absolutely correct! If you have read "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", by Stephen R. Covey, then you know that he advocates envisioning the end product or "first creation" as he calls it, when you set out to make goals and plans.

We have seen the Democrat er, Socialist end product or "first creation" in HR 3200. This is it! This is what they want Amerikan Socialized Medicine to be. Any backing off of the "first creation" of HR 3200 would be an attempt to pass an incremental version that is still headed toward HR 3200.

For this reason, we need to demand that there is NO involvement of government in our health care! Find a Tea Party, and let your voice be heard! We could turn this country around 180 degrees in six years by VOTING the bums out!

Best way to insure that happens is for Republicans to say and do NOTHING because Dems will not do anything all on their own. Be completely quiet. Go to the required meetings and sessions, but say nothing. The Dems will crap their pants and quit. End of problem.

Illinois (socialist) Rep. Jan Schakowsky had a townhall meeting tonight, I’m waiting for a report from someone who was there. They showed some of it on the late news, then showed her in an interview afterward saying the Dems would like some Republican support for the bill, but if its not there, she claims the Dems will just go ahead and pass it anyway. Big talk from her—she’s in a safe district. Don’t think those blue dogs will be quite so gung ho about it.

Ah, yes 2013. That’s why we can’t afford to wait any longer! We’ve got to do this NOW or the economy won’t recover.
