Another Sen. Kennedy in Massachusetts?

Speculation grows about former congressman Joseph Kennedy II

Aug 31, 2009

WASHINGTON - Another Kennedy just might occupy the Kennedy seat in the Senate.

Amid the emotional public outpouring over the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy, talk of a successor has focused on his widow, Victoria Reggie Kennedy, and his nephew, Joseph Kennedy II, the 56-year-old former congressman who could return to politics after a decade's absence.

"Even though he's emotionally drained right now, he can't help but be moved by the enormous flood of affection and respect from all over the country," said veteran Democratic strategist Dan Payne. "He wouldn't be human and he wouldn't be a Kennedy if he didn't give serious consideration to running for what is known as the 'Kennedy seat' in Massachusetts."

Kennedy would be an early favorite if he decides to run, likely discouraging other Democrats who might be reluctant to oppose a Kennedy so close to the senator's death. Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick on Monday set a date of Jan. 19 for a special election to fill Kennedy's seat. The primary will be Dec. 8.

There have been few clues about Kennedy's plans and he has declined comment through his spokesman, Brian O'Connor. Kennedy family sources have indicated that Victoria Kennedy is not interested in running.

That alone is enough to make me throw up everything I have eaten for days. He’s emotionally drained right now. Oh, please! Since when does a Kennedy ever give a rat’s patootie about anything but himself?

I think Michael Skakel would be a good substitute for Ted. After all he killed a girl and almost got away with it.

Kennedy spokesperson said they will cross that bridge when the time comes.

I thought Massachusetts had some kind of law that says that the crown goes to the king’s first born male child.

Massachusetts has been sending idiots to Washington for decades. No reason to think that will change now that Uncle Teddy is gone.

On the other hand, the old lech was effective, which can’t be said for the now-senior senator.

Funny how everyone takes for granted that this is the ‘Kennedy seat’. I thought we got to elect people?

I find having a Kennedy in office very useful.

I don't have to even know what an issue is, much less study up on it, all I have to know is what Kennedy's position is. If for it, I am against it. If against it, I am for it.

Saves lots of troublesome reading for me (and John Conyers).

"...emotional public outpouring..."
It would be useful to have a closer look at the Kennedy Funeral TV numbers.

Ted Kennedy wasn't the only homicidal drunk driver in the family:

Pam Kelley: Paralyzed by Joe Kennedy

Paralyzed victim of Joe K crash: Skinflint won't help

When he was in Congress Howie Carr called him the “Wizard of Uhhs” and used to hold contests on his radio show. He would play a 30-second clip of a JK speech and you would have to guess how many times he said uhh. It was pretty funny.

As Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously said, "Three generations of imbeciles is enough." remaining Kennedy pukes should all be sterilized.

David Kennedy (Pam Kelley's boyfriend at the time) too was heartbroken by the latest island atrocity involving Kennedys and young girls. “You finally find someone to love,” he is quoted as saying in the Collier-Horowitz book, “and you lose her. It’s the sh---.”

That quote really got me. Notice that it is about him and not her - another selfish Kennedy porkface.

I thought Massachusetts had some kind of law that says that the crown goes to the king’s first born male child.

Historically, it goes to the king's idiot brother. If the Senate seat went to the first born male child, then John F Kennedy Jr would have become a Senator in 1962. And he would have been just as qualified under the US Constitution.
