The general who led military relief efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is denying a report that he may challenge Louisiana Sen. David Vitter in 2010, calling it "speculation and rumors" Sunday.

KEYWORDS: election; senate; vitter
Usually when they say it's "speculation and rumor" it's a trial balloon to see what the reaction would be. If he runs then will Vitter be in trouble?

I liked that man. There’s an awful lot of ‘stuck on stupid’ in Washington.

Vitter is a strong conservative vote. If a democrat had done what he did, he would be majority leader now.

A general with much more honesty and integrity than the vast majority of congress critters may challenge a Lousiana dim-bulb-crat?

(Where Louisiana actively challenges Illinois, New Jersey, and Massachusetts for voting the most corrupt, idiotic, and stupid senators ever?)

I’ll vote for the general.

Especially that general.

Vitter has pretty solid support in LA...I’d like to seen Honore challenge Mary Landrieu next time around, which will be 2014. Honore ought to spend the interim trying to pick off one of the Dems in Louisiana’s house delegation (i.e. Charlie Melancon).

I imagine Vitter is breathing a huge sigh of relief on hearing this news.

Should have run against Landrieu in 2008. Honore could be an attractive candidate, but Vitter is not the one he needs to oppose. Vitter is one of the strongest conservatives, and needs to stay away from call girls.

If I were a Louisianian, and could vote for him, or not...I’d certainly be open to the possibility, pending further revelations of his political views.
