Oh, 'dat be you. How's your gout?

In principle, I have been against term limits in the past but I'm starting to change my mind.

John, what a great speech! It is so important for people to understand these simple concepts that we once were taught in school. Instead, today's students are taught crap like this:

Curriculum Guide: Secondary Education
San Francisco State University

http://www.cnn.com/2001/fyi/lesson.plans/01/02/washington.slaves/index.html

Summary: This lesson plan is based on story that told of George Washington, America’s first president and how his slaves descendants celebrated the day that Washington freed his slaves. The descendents laid boxwood wreaths at a memorial honoring the 316 slaves he had. I like this lesson plan, because it deals with a variety of issues such as slavery, hypocrisy, emancipation, life after slavery, and redemption.

While the subject is very unique, the lesson plan is somewhat undisciplined, as it talks about Washington’s change towards slavery, instead of stating the brutal truth about slavery and how it was a system that the Slavemasters did not want to give up. Including Washington. The lesson plan downplays this, by stating that he gave his slaves up at his death. It does not compare or contrast him with some of his fellow friends, such as John Adams who were fierce opponents of slavery.

Positive Aspects: In looking at this lesson plan, students will see the differing relationships that characters have with each other in story structure. They will learn about the slave system and how it was something that was a fact of life in America. Students may also learn about family trees and tracking ones family lineage.

Development Areas: One of the areas that would be developed in this lesson plan would be critical thinking, rationalization skills and the double standards that they may often see.

Adapting: I would have the students start this lesson plan by having written a family tree. After the writing a family tree, I would have them write down the names of the first 10 presidents. I would make place their family tree under the names of each of the presidents to show the dramatic effects of slavery, by making the family tree, a slave tree. I would then have the students write in their journals and going into a role-play about the life of a slave.

After they wrote a reflection on slavery, I would then have them learn about George Washington and his slaves, teaching them about the first president of the United States and how he was a victim of the slave system.

We love it. Here are some modern days opinions!!!

Important Message please watch both of them ....

The You Tube links below are Part 1 and 2 of a tape made by a 2 senior citizens. He and his wife made the tape from their ranch in south-central Texas.
At their own expense, they made 1000 copies and sent one to every single congressman and senator and some media outlets.
Let’s hope that each and every one of them watched and LISTENED!!!

When the 1st tape ends a link should come up for you to watch Part 2. If you think this is important, please do pass it on..
