Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, the blunt-talking, cigar-chomping military leader who stepped into the political feuding that followed Hurricane Katrina and sorted matters out, will be guest speaker at the annual Freedom Fund Banquet of the Shreveport Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

NAACP to celebrate 100 years
“In a breaking story, The Louisiana Weekly and Bayoubuzz.com have learned that the hero of Hurricane recovery, General Russell Honore is seriously considering entering the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate seat against incumbent David Vitter. Honore, a Republican since the Reagan Administration and a registered Louisiana voter from his Zachary home, has spoken to friends and supporters in the last two weeks signaling that he is, according to one, “more than 50% sure that he will run.””
As of this writing, Honore’ is neither a resident of nor a registered voter of Louisiana, either R or D. If/when he registers here, we shall see what will be his party affiliation. If he chooses R, and decides to run, he will have to run against Vitter in a closed primary.
Vitter is much more popular among the R base here than among the newspaper editorial boards and TV newsrooms in Louisiana. I cite as evidence the media’s attempt earlier this year to float a porn star as a legitimate political candidate against Vitter. Fortunately for us Louisiana Conservatives, the newspapers and TV stations are losing their political influence by the day.

Wasn’t aware of that. Thanks. I’m all for it if he’s a conservative. If he’s just another Colin Powell, forget it.
The NAACP is a partisan, dishonest, anti-American, anti-white, pro-collectivist organization. I would no more speak to them than I would to the New Black Panther Party or the CPUSA.
I hope the general tells them to get a job and get off welfare. It has decimated the CP...(their words, not mine.)
Not likely to happen. He never would have been invited to speak if there was a possibility he would say such a thing.
