“In a breaking story, The Louisiana Weekly and Bayoubuzz.com have learned that the hero of Hurricane recovery, General Russell Honore is seriously considering entering the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate seat against incumbent David Vitter. Honore, a Republican since the Reagan Administration and a registered Louisiana voter from his Zachary home, has spoken to friends and supporters in the last two weeks signaling that he is, according to one, “more than 50% sure that he will run.””

As of this writing, Honore’ is neither a resident of nor a registered voter of Louisiana, either R or D. If/when he registers here, we shall see what will be his party affiliation. If he chooses R, and decides to run, he will have to run against Vitter in a closed primary.

Vitter is much more popular among the R base here than among the newspaper editorial boards and TV newsrooms in Louisiana. I cite as evidence the media’s attempt earlier this year to float a porn star as a legitimate political candidate against Vitter. Fortunately for us Louisiana Conservatives, the newspapers and TV stations are losing their political influence by the day.
