S.I. baseball-bat wielding neighbor rescues girl from abductor in woods

A baseball bat-wielding Staten Island homeowner was hailed as a hero after he chased away a man who dragged a 15-year-old girl into the woods, police and witnesses said.

Patrick Klatt, 51, was inside his Great Kills home Thursday night when he heard the young girl's screams from a wooded area across the street.

"He kept telling her to be quiet," Klatt said about the sicko. "[But] she yelled just loud enough for me to hear."

Klatt grabbed a baseball bat and ran out his door.

As he crossed the street, the man saw Klatt approaching and fled.

"I ran in the woods as he was running out," Klatt told the Daily News yesterday.

Ready to pursue the attacker, Klatt saw the young girl instead.

He stopped to help.

"I saw her halfway in and grabbed her by the hand," he said. "She was shaking, crying."

The teen told Klatt her attacker had grabbed her by the throat. She was hurt and her voice was raspy.

Klatt grabbed her hand and helped her to her feet.

"As long as you're with me, nobody's going to hurt you," Klatt assured the distraught teen as he led her out of the woods.

“It is the fault of the reader where his thoughts take him, not the writer.”

The problem with that is that the phrase “get some,” has two connotations.

Nice to hear about the good people - the evil ones are boring and stupid and everyone wishes they were dead...

Good job. Report back if you get any action. We need to band together as citizens to fight this evil that is permeating our society. The cops DO NOT protect & serve. They get there mostly AFTER the dirty deeds are done.

I got a guy living up the street that is a registered sex offender. He moved here from Idaho (I believe) and didn’t register at first. Some locals at the pool called the cops one day because the guy was acting weird and watching the kids. They found out who he was and got him registered. Why he wasn’t locked up I can’t say. He lives with his parents. They are in their seventies. I’m guessing this guy is in his early fifties.

Even the Registry is becoming a joke - with 30-40 million illegals who can’t even be arrested if they BREAK the law, how many of them do we suppose are up to no good?

GOPJ,

That’s why I ttok the time to post it. True hero citizens in our society are too few & far between, unfortunately. Most people don’t want to “involve themselves” where potential danger lurks. Bring back the likes of John Wayne & Charlton Heston. “Real Manhood” is a dying trait...

I believe he was referring to the rescuer getting a piece of the attacker.

I know this probably sounds really silly, but hey, would you want this creep taking pics of your kids?

You really should get in touch with his parole officer. The PD can help you with that.

The PO will schedule an unannounced visit and grab his cell phone. IF he has photos of neighborhood kids, that could be considered a parole violation and he'll back in jail.

You should enjoy anonymity.

Pay special attention on Halloween. They are forbidden from answering their door...These perverts offend every single day of their lives...in one way or another. They can't be cured.

"Stay armed, protect Life and Liberty..."

Got *that* right! That young girl was just seconds from having her innocence & personal dignity taken away forever, and even possibly her very life. (rapists don't like "screamers.") I'm sure if this happened in Texas, the thug would be just about pushing up daisies in a few days.

In my humble opinion, probably 1/4 of the people here illegally are criminal in one way or another. This is in no way scientific. That being said, the other 3/4 are humble, hard working people struggling for a better life. The 3/4, inmho, are being used in any number of ways.

The mind naturally goes where it lives...it appears that there are a good many here who need to examine their thought patterns. I was aware of the two alternatives, but I understood where the writer was headed, I didn't immediately leap to the worst connotation and then post a knee-jerk reaction. I read the words and then attempted to understand what it was Appy was attemtpting to say and I would be very surprised if anyone here would say what the gutter connotation implies.

Conservatives take responsibility for their actions...and reactions. If you mind goes to the gutter automatically then you need to do some soul searching.

“Conservatives take responsibility for their actions...and reactions. If you mind goes to the gutter automatically then you need to do some soul searching.”

Not at all. In the context of the thread the post was easily misconstrued. Everyday we have people come on here and say outrageous things.

You were able to separate the connotations only because you know Appy.
