at least 3 injuries..one badly burned fire fighter just air lifted out
some recent chatter
"we are loosing structures"
"need air rescue"
"send ambulances backed by engines"
"I guess we can go back in there after the fire passes, pull out for now"(I assume resdiental areas)
local online news media seems to be in "weekend mode" not updating
I should add the “station” fire is a large wildfire(on of several in the LA area)
What is a ‘station’ fire?
We live near, and have friends in the “affected areas” - all the news is about worthless Teddy.

La Canada Flintridge (myFOXla.com) - As of 1:45 p.m. today, the following areas had been placed under mandatory evacuation orders:
In the mountains above Sunland-Tujunga, at 1:45 p.m. authorities began evacuating upper reaches of Big Tujunga Canyon, near the Big Tujunga Ranger Station. Offciials are not sure of the exact parameters of the evacuation area. Thomas Brothers Map page 4643.
In La Canada Flintridge, at 11:45 a.m. officials ordered additional mandatory evacuations from homes accessed by Ocean View Boulevard north of Bristow Road. This area includes Bristow Road, Derwood Drive, Manistee Drive and Highrim Road. This area is the eastern side of Pickens Canyon, along the city line between La Canada Flintridge and unincorporated La Crescenta. (Map 504 H-5, 504 H-6.)
In La Canada Flintridge, an 11:30 a.m. order covers the area generally north of Vista del Valle Road, west of Angeles Crest Highway, and east of Palm Drive at its intersection with Ravista Lane. (Maps 534 J-1; 535 A-1; 535 B-1 and 535 C-1.)
For some reason, the trendy (goofy, if you axe me) thing the past couple of years has been to "name" fires, just like hurricanes. This one's "Station".
It is not goofy, they are named for the place they start at. Pretty simple really.
Jackson Lake's really close to Wrightwood....that little burg would be a firetrap if things got too close in.
The Station Fire started off Angeles Crest Highway (SR 2) about one mile above Angeles Crest Fire Station around 3:30pm Wednesday August 26, 2009.
Sorry, I forgot that.
When there are multiple fires, it is probably helpful to have names for them to assist in directing resources. Otherwise people might constantly be saying, “umm, ok, now which fire are you talking about?”

Hand injuries reported? Whose hands were injured?
30 miles west of this fire our air is really murky. The clouds have a purple/pink tinge and climb miles up into the sky. Must be pretty bad over there to be this bad here.
