Democrats Eye Maine Senator (Snowe) for a Health Vote
New York Times ^ | August 28, 2009 | Carl Hulse

Posted on 08/29/2009 3:57:47 AM PDT by reaganaut1

As Congress prepares to hit the restart button on the health care debate, Senator Olympia J. Snowe does not relish the prospect of becoming a Group of One.

“I certainly hope not,” exclaimed Ms. Snowe, about the possibility that she could end up as the sole Republican willing to join Senate Democrats in moving ahead on a broad change in health care.

Ms. Snowe and two Republican colleagues, Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa and Michael B. Enzi of Wyoming, have been privately negotiating a health care plan with three Democratic members of the Senate Finance Committee in what has become known as the Group of Six.

But Mr. Grassley and Mr. Enzi have, during the August recess, become increasingly at odds with Democratic approaches to health care.

This has given Ms. Snowe a high degree of leverage as Democrats ask, What does Olympia Snowe want?

The senator, a centrist from Maine who is no stranger to breaking with her party on policy, said she was still working out the answer, though she said the August recess had led her to believe that Congress might have to scale back its health care expectations.

Ms. Snowe says she wants the public to understand that there is a serious problem, that the health care system is in crisis and that even people who are happy with their current coverage will not stay content for long, given rapidly rising costs and steadily shrinking benefits.

“They may say they are satisfied now,” the senator said in an interview, “but it is going to get worse, given the skyrocketing increases that are only going to persist. Something needs to be done to remove the deep anxiety that people find themselves in because of the lack of health insurance.”

shes not incorrect that there are problems with healthcare.
If she believes however that negotiating a deal with those thieves will work to her or the peoples advantage she is sadly mistaken.

“Something needs to be done to remove the deep anxiety that people find themselves in because of the lack of health insurance.”

Dear Senator dipshit. It's not the Governments job. The deep anxiety is precisely because the government is fu*&ing with every aspect of peoples lives. Resign, drop dead, or whatever makes you happy.

Olympia Snowe's Secret Walking Tour

The local rag, Bangor Daily News (Pravda on the Penobscot) ran this puff piece recently on their favorite "Republican." She held a "walking tour" that no one knew about except lefty gov-lovers. See, she wants to hear productive dialog, not staged protests.

Like this piece of Kabuki Theater wasn't staged.

"John Gentzel, a spokesman for Snowe, said the senator prefers this type of interaction as opposed to public forums that often feel like staged protests. “She wants to hear productive dialogue,” he explained. Her stop in Bangor was not publicized, but word got out."

problem is their Southern Democrats, Florida, Louisanna, Arkansas and the Western States are no votes. By the way where is Harry Reid ? Tark’s son has him as a dead man walking as a Senator.

“Something needs to be done to remove the deep anxiety that people find themselves in because of the lack of health insurance.”

Whatever it is, this ain't it.

The very worst pieces of legislationsin American history came from the "We've got to do SOMETHING" impulse.

If the GOP doesn’t discipline these reprobates, they will witness the death of their party. They have done very little for conservative America but use us. “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

“problem is their Southern Democrats, ...”
Wish I had any trust in any politician at this point.
They desperately want one Republican to support this crap so they can shed themselves from the consequences of ramming it through. The legislation was boiler-plated by communists, Obama has surrounded himself with radicals and communists, and those facts alone should have people up in arms.

There is no doubt in my mind that the DemonRAT socialists were behind the crisis that precipitated the economic collapse.

They manipulated and schemed and took over all three branches of government. Every action they've taken since has been to make things worse. They've spent trillions of dollars paying off their cronies, borrowing against future generations so they can “reshape” America.

Doom on them and doom on their spawn.

LOOK, YOU IDIOT LIBERAL TRAITOR!

Getting rid of all the ridiculous ambulance chasing SCUM BAG ATTORNEYS, who sue and get millions, because one poor soul out of several million got a rash from some miracle drug, IS ALL THE REFORM THAT NEEDS TO GET DONE!

Is that simple enough to understand? And, the only real “CRISIS” in this country are the out of control career politicians who sit in their velvet chairs and eat out at gourmet restaurants and go on lavish European vacations several time a year at our expense, while the country falls into complete economic ruin.

Prison is even too good for these thieving ass hats!
