Lots of outrageously outraged e-mails flowing in about this, although its interesting to me mainly as a First Amendment curio. The footage comes from Jim Morans health-care town hall on Tuesday night. The question: Can a congressman bar signs, or certain types of signs, from an event at which hes speaking? The answer (and the ambiguity) turns, I assume, on whether the event is public or private. Its a public school and Moran is very much a public official, but recall that Claire McCaskill evidently got away with imposing a no signs policy at her own town hall where the incident with the Rosa Parks poster happened. That makes me think either theres some sort of public/private wrinkle to these meetings that were missing or that banning signs is valid as a time, place, or manner restriction on certain forms of speech. But if thats so, why does the guard here seem to distinguish between signs with images on them and signs that are text-only? Help me, constitutional scholars and law-school grads, youre my only hope!
Anyone think obozo will say the cop “acted stupidly”?
I didn’t think so.
So is this how it is? EVERYTHING from our children to our bank accounts to our Doctor visits are PUBLIC and OPEN to the government...BUT a congressman holding a townhall meeting is PRIVATE and off limits to us? FIRE THEM..we should send them millions of plastic FIRE ants.
Watchya wanna bet these two in the video end up at the WH for a ‘Bud’ (for propaganda purposes, of course).
Per Wiki for Fairfax County where Officer Cheeks works
72.91% White
8.83% Black or African American
0.26% Native American
13.00% Asian
0.07% Pacific Islander
4.54% from other races
3.65% from two or more races.
The vidoe is unbelievable...the officer was (IMHO) intejecting his own political feelings and opinions of the poster into a exercise of 1st amendment rights on what appeared to be public property.
Folks should watch the video. It is indeed a poster created from my site:
It's the latest one. Really is bringing them out of the wordwork.
Cooments at the yourube site indicate that the officer is Fairfax County Public Schools Security Services.
I got the strong impression that trespassing is just the first thing that popped into the cop's head. The more I think about this, the angrier I get.
thanks for that, just blasted one off his way.
‘I’ haven’t done it, yet. I’m sorry the way I posted it ‘without paragraphs’. The individual said he/she had called them. Not I. Just putting the telephone info up here. ;-)
Fairfax bump
Gotcha! Haha! Sorry! I’m just not ‘trying to take credit’...so to speak.
