More liberal than Democrats?
LOLOLOLOL.
That's really sad, if Freepers are willing to endorse a candidate who's more liberal than the Democrats around him, simply because of the letter following the candidate's name.
The United Republican Fund of Illinois is the state equivalent of the ACU, it rates candidates overall on how often they adhere to conservative values. Two rural southern Illinois Democrat state legislators scored the best of all the Dems, with a score of 67.5% conservative last year. Kirk got a 40%.
Kirk doesn’t meet the minimum threshold for a Republican in good standing. His friend Johnny McLame is twice as conservative as him.
No moderate-to-conservative leaning dems are gonna be running against Kirk.
But several democrats in the legislature are to the right of him, mostly downstaters as Billyboy pointed out (in the coming years I hope those downstate seats elect Republicans.), (and there are a few RINO legislators to the left of these democrats) also Rep. Jack Franks of McHenry county next door to Kirk.
The Lake County (part of this is in Kirk’s district) dem sheriff who switched parties to the GOP last December was well to Kirk’s right as a democrat.
