“I am not sure you fully realize the danger of post-modernism and the pop culture that values style and emotion over substance...but this is getting off topic from a very good post for those who are still attracted to logic and reason.”
All people are attracted to logic and reason but some need the most elemental version in order to grasp the concepts. “The Law” delivers in terms that everyone can understand even if the logic circuits in their brains are missing a few synapses.
Thank you for the link.
Government is the collective power of man.
As such, government can have no power over man that any other man might have over another person or group.
For example, you have no right to chain lesbians to a fence and whip them. Nor do you have a right to simply walk in to Chinese Americans homes and take what you like.
The great conflict now seems to e between the “Government’s job is to protect my rights and let me do what I need to succeed” faction and the “Government owes me everything and should take care of me no matter whether I try or not” groups.
Governments job is not to be our parents. Or our Pastors. Government rarely even screws it’s own ass on right. It amounts to a summary, a crystallization of what we ourselves are. If we are greedy, can we expect our government to be thrifty? If we are unfaithful, will a dedicated, honest government result?
Impossible.
Government can have no values, it can have no aspirations, it can have no goals or ethics if the people themselves have lost them.
Thanks...A Very Good read.
