Back during the 2008 Iowa Cacuses, a rumor was circulated the night before that Fred Thompson was going to pull out of the race.
During an interview the next day, Thompson said he knew who was behind it, but refused to discuss beyond saying it cost him "a couple of points".
I understand during the election, nobody was going to admit who did it, certainly not until after November. OK, November came, went, and now the socialist-in-chief has everybody distracted, so, I ask:
who did it?
Yep, Fred did himself in. Disappointing.
yet he held the troops back when it came to Zero.
it's not hate, just observation.
“l attacks against Fred Thomspon and his family? His appearance? His age? His trophy wife?”
Seems like the exact opposite was true, as well. Really, by tenfold.
Look for it to be McCain's "turn" again if he lives that long. I would not call it a "mistake" that the GOP co-operated fully in getting The One elected. I expect '12 to be a re-run of '96.
The sad thing IMO, is that what we need more than anything else is a President who is not desperately grasping for the job. Fred appeared to fit the bill.
OUCH!!!
Yeah, I bet that hurt a lot. I thought it was funny how quickly it went from 'after the convention they will campaign separately' to 'they will campaign together for a week or more'.
McCain is not a bad or evil person, although he has a Hell of a temper. I think his 'people' though...well I think they were probably more worried about her upstaging him than he was himself.
Politically, he is a disaster though. I certainly hope his aides, and Romney's for that matter, that trashed Sarah get the full wrath they deserve.
Big Dittos to that!
Fred, himself. His heart wasn't into running.
Beyond that, Romney is always a prime suspect to stab another candidate in the back.
Fred Thompson angered social conservatives by saying he didn’t attend church very often. James Dobson of Focus on the Family criticized him for it. Fred responsed by saying he didn’t care what James Dobson thinks. As a result, social cosnervatives rallied around Huckabee. Social conservatives can be real prima donnas.
Fred was only there to take votes away from Romney for McCain. But something happened...Huckabee started taking votes from both and even Fred.
So Fred did his job and at least took enough conservative votes to water down Mitt and Mike and let Juan McLame win the nomination and start losing the race. Only when he picked Palin did his numbers go up (and his money) and he got close. But then he pulled a Senator thing and went to “fix the economy” and looked like the fool that he is.
At least Fred was a real conservative.
I don’t remember it that way- it seemed Mitt supporters were after us Fredheads from the beginning.
FWIW and IMO only, Romney was set to win the Iowa “caucus” until Huckabee came into the state and swept the Christian vote from both Romney and Fred Thompson.
I’m still waiting for him to announce that he’s running.
LOL. You’re still a kook, I see. Hunter went nowhere fast because he refused to take the advice of the people within his own campaign to go all-in for the Iowa straw poll - his ONLY opportunity to make any kind of a name for himself.
It is no secret that I’ve ALWAYS thought that FDT, a celebrity, was in it to spoil things fore DLH, a Statesman. If Hunter had won, we wouldn’t be where we are today.I fear he was America’s last chance to survive with Constitution in tact.
I think Fred was a spoiler for his good friend McCain.
