I had never heard of chocolate gravy till a few years ago! It's yummy!
Here is my biscuit recipe:
BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS'
BISCUITS SUPREME
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup milk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In a large bowl stir
together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt,
and cream of tartar. Using a pastry blender,
cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.
Add milk all at once. Using a fork, stir just until moistened.
2. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
Knead dough by folding and gently pressing dough for
30 seconds, just until dough holds together.
Pat or lightly roll dough until 3/4 inch thick.
Cut dough with a floured 2-1/2-inch biscuit cutter,
rerolling scraps as necessary.
3. Place biscuits 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 10 to 14 minutes or until golden.
Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve warm.
4. Makes 12 biscuits YUM! :D

......Is it popular there?.....
“There” is Claiborne County Tennessee, on the Kentucky Border near Tazewell, Cumberland Gap
I’m not sure. My mother told the story that during the war, when I was a baby, we lived summers in a cabin at the mine my father ran for my grandfather. On weekends we went back to Knoxville.
Someone would enter the unsecured cabin and take groceries. They always took chocolate pudding.Somehow she learned they used it to make gravy.
Recently, 60 plus years later, I learned it is still a local tradition. I never heard of it being made outside Claiborne county
Weird? I worked for years with a scout troop and the weirdness of camp food made without what was left at home or not bought can be pretty incredible.

OBX is the Outer Banks of NC. Love that place.
Check it out on a map. I love it there.
The last 3 years I spent one week, next summer, two..... One week is not enough.
