The corrupt political system in MA changes the laws at a whim when they do not align with their leftist agenda. This state is sick. I know this law is different than most states, but the dims enacted it when Kerry was running for POTUS to block Romney form appointing someone to fill his seat if he was elected. No shame.

Isn’t it moot now that the vacancy exists?

If the law can be changed so cavalierly then there is no law at all.

If the law stood, it not only would remove one Dem from a Senate seat but would give the electorate a better chance to actually NOT vote in a Dem (fat chance, but still a chance). Now the leftist state will just plug in another leftist, thus adding the Dem vote back to the Senate.

Of course it would be
reasonable. Everything proposed by liberals is
reasonable. Preferential treatment is
reasonable. Double-standards are
reasonable.
God, we need a Texas-sized broom and get rid of 99% of these cockroaches.

They ought to modify the state constitution. Just insert these two sentences:
"If a Democrat is governor, then the governor has the power to name a successor to a senatorial seat. However, if a Republican is governor, then the successor will be chosen through a special eelction."

Mike Dukakis’ name has already been floated by the Boston Globe as the stooge. The fix is in and this directive is coming from beyond the state.

However, if a Republican is governor, then the successor will be chosen through a special election. Sorry, that still leaves room for inappropriate outcomes. How about this modification;
However, if a Republican is governor, then the successor will be chosen by the State Democrat Party Chair.

Forget what the law says -— just do anything you damned well want. What a sick and twisted place to live —— oh but they did keep electing that fat old sot to office
