'Freethought' Kids' Camp Launches in Texas (Temple of Darwin evangelizes children with evo-religion)
ICR ^ | August 26, 2009 | Christine Dao

Even in the heart of the Bible Belt, Texas isn’t immune to the proliferation of atheistic propaganda, whether in its public schools or now in atheist summer camps.

Camp Quest—with the tagline “It’s beyond belief!”—bills itself as “the first residential summer camp in the history of the United States for the children of Atheists, Freethinkers, Humanists, Brights, or whatever other terms might be applied to those who hold to a naturalistic, not supernatural world view.”[1]

The first UK Camp Quest, which received funding from the Richard Dawkins Foundation and other private donors, launched late July in England, and five other Camp Quest locations have been established in North America.[2]...

Why do you have a problem with this, GGG? It is out in the open, totally above board, and, let’s face it, the camp is evangelizing absolutely no one. The parents have already done so, evidenced by them sending their kids to this camp in the first place.

“Institute for Creation Research”?

LOL.
“Research”?
Really?

Cuz, they’re pretty much relying on ONE BOOK.

I guess they won’t be telling any ghost stories around the campfire.

It has nothing to do with their right to do so...I have a problem with it because that “church” is teaching children to embrace a religion that rejects the God of the Bible, and leads to eternal damnation.

As much as this is distasteful to me, the parents of these kids do have the right to send them to whatever camp they choose.

Of course, parents are held responsible for how they raised their children when they stand before God, so. . .

True...they will be talking about how life sprang up from non-life, how intelligence came from non-intelligence, and how mankind discovered the natural selection god, and how Darwin was its prophet.

It just goes to show that people like to teach their children
their own beliefs, and give them more exposure to reinforce those
beliefs.
At least the freethinkers say they will look at evidence.
If they said that Jesus was “lacking” cause he didn’t talk
about womens subjugation...it may give the impression that these
are very biased folks. Of the many things he talked about, the
most important one appears to be about attaining eternal
life by believing in His and His fathers work...and one of the offshoots
of belief in Him and the Father would be to love your neighbor as yourself.

Temple of Darwin summer camp, because 9 month school year is not enough to keep them in unbelief? I doubt it is ‘freethinking’, imagine what happens to kids who question the flaws in evo.

Hey! Why stop there! Please check out this link:

Various Religious Summer Camps

And I will await your posts on how you disagree with these groups on the details of "creation". Self described groups listed in the summer camp catalog include:
Anglican
Bahai
Baptist
Bible
Catholic
Christian
Episcopal
Jewish
Latter-day Saints
Lutheran
Mennonite
Methodist
Muslim
Other Religious
Presbyterian

And if you drill down on "Other Religious" you get:

Wiki's
Native American Faiths
and (I kid you not...)
"Social Justice and Environmental Stewardship"

Are you going to post diatribes against each of these other "belief system camps" where they disagree with your YEC accounts? Or are you going to go "soft" on them because, "at least they believe in something"? I hear those Catholic Camps might actually mention "evolution" when talking to the kiddies about the life found in the great outdoors. Where is the consistancy of your convictions?

See, in our society, we have the freedom to engage and promote thoughts and opinions we find appealing.

Want to send your kids to Creationist Day Camp? Fine.
Want to start your own Creationist Day Camp? Fine too.
Don't want to send your kids to Atheist Day Camp? Also fine.

Want the entire world to think and believe exactly as you do? Not fine. Not even possible. Dangerous, in fact. If you want to live in a society where religious opinions and beliefs are a matter of law, where opposing beliefs and opinions are illegal try some country under Sharia Law.

I have a problem with it because that “church” is teaching children to embrace a religion that rejects the God of the Bible, and leads to eternal damnation.

So, I'm guessing you probably have the same problems with a Mormon camp? Or a Hindi one? Perhaps Jewish, too?

The way I see it is that religions people should not attack when reality threatens belief.

What was it that Jesus said on the cross?

Cute, but untrue. Of course you know that. You are just attempting to be clever. Maybe next time.

This has nothing to do with the Temple of Darwin’s right to set up a “church” to promulgate their religion. It’s about alerting the church to a new mission field, while at the same time demonstrating just how far and how fast this country is falling to the forces of evolutionary materialism.

PS This stuff should be brought up in the next court case where the Temple of Darwin tries to pretend that is not a religion.
